I will boycott next-gen consoles if they are digital-only, what about you?

It seems Microsoft wants to completely get rid of physical media; in fact, they tried this with the Xbox Series S but kept a Blu-ray drive in the Series X.

I don't like losing my rights, and I think indignation needs to be shown now, or soon our hobby will become a real prison being sold as freedom. Digital is not preservation, digital is not preservation.

Boycott if you don't have the option of a physical media drive, boycott, whether it's the Sony PlayStation 6, the new Xbox, or some Nintendo Switch cartridges.

I'm willing to trade physical games if Sony and Nintendo adopt better digital rights management for multiple systems. I should at least be able to authorize two systems to play games offline.

Physical is the primary reason I have consoles now. I'll just stick with PS5 Pro until that dries up and then go 100% PC

If you can do it then more power to you, but where will you go? There are no alternatives.

I think the PS6 will have a drive though.

Yeah boycott consoles and go to PC which has been digital only for over a decade, that'll show em.

Yeah, go play on PC... Oh wait...

I've been all digital since the start of XBone and PS4.
Be warned that when the zombie apocalypse hits I will be raiding your library for something to play.

Boycott next gen consoles - you mean boycott gaming forever.

It's not like they'll suddenly decide to stick a disc drive on the PS7 in 2035.

Moved to 100% digital on Xbox, so this won't be a decision factor. I have other platforms where I am 100% physical.

Complain if you want lol, nobody cares. If 90% of the consumers have already moved to digital, I bet publishers will soon don't give a fuck about the 10% remaining that are harder to satisfy.

I want to own my game and lend it to whomever I want. Didn't we fight for this years ago? So what has changed? Nothing has changed, we don't want anything to change.

So you stop playing new games?

I've never owned a gaming PC (or technically speaking, I owned many powerful PCs but always used them for work), however if all consoles were tu become digital I would consider going PC for living room (with either ValporwareCube or a custom PC) instead of buying a console, especially is such console would be priced at over $1000.

I won't be buying PS6 day1 if that happens, I will do it if the bluray will be available as a separate product (and in stock). Next Xbox is going to be all-digital for sure (regardless what it's going to be), so it won't end up on my shelf.

Why would anyone buy a console if there are no physical media?! I might as well just switch to PC gaming.

The games are significantly cheaper there, too.

No disc drive, no purchase—simple as that.

There is a huge difference in how open PC infrastructure is and how many more options you have as a user in purchasing games (and software in general).

Consoles, especially PlayStation, are much much more restrictive.

I've stopped buying physical since the PS4 (so doing this for 13 years now). Hasn't affected my experience in the slightest.

Maybe I was already conditioned as a PC gamer, but I really don't give a shit. I do sympathize with collectors though.

I will never stop gaming. But if consoles become digital only they better have GOD LIKE exclusives to keep me from going PC. Physical Media is the thing keeping me around mostly this gen so far

a digital only console ecosystem is a worthless investment.

at that point PC is objectively the better platform, as there you have multiple stores and you have easy ways to either obtain DRM free games or circumvent the DRM through hacks.

Physical and great (Sony)exclusives were the only reasons I kept a console around. That both pretty much ended with the ps5. Pc only from now on.

I've owned 2 ps5's and a ps5 pro, all with disk drives. And none of them have ever been anywhere near a disk and never will.

I only got that there as the digital only was hard to get.
