State of Play announced for June 2. Over an hour long, with an extended look at Wolverine

I feel like this was the last "masculine focused" Sony game. And it even had a female gay couple in it, except their relationship was so tastefully done (the little you saw of it) and grounded that you thought nothing of it.
If anything that couple made the retards even more mad at the game because rikki has a brief moment of weakness and flirt with shirtless deacon.

Well, you got balls Sony. I will give you that. This better be the handheld or PS6. If you are live streaming at movie theatre's.
Wolverine alone doesn't cut it.

I hope the hardware reveal is amazing, and you better have software to go with it.

Full transparency. I have not been impressed with Sony since ps3/ Vita era. I am not a Sony fanboy.

Could have changed since then but the info going around in 2023 was about missions structured by regions with hub areas. Some missions are labeled "open world" but I understand that those are done inside the hub areas.
The slides inside the spoiler, last one specifically has names attached for the hub areas and quests.

Yep. They would be open within hubs. Wide linear, as they call it these days. Essentially 30 straightforward missions and 10 where you will get to roam around the hub, assuming the leaked scope still holds.

Listen I hate woke slop too, but I think some of you are forgetting that Xmen ( while actually having sexy charactets) has ALWAYS been "woke". So Wolverine will most assured will be that.

yes, but Spider-Man 2 was an absoluzte atrocious piece of shit game, and not because it was woke, so Wolverine will most assured be that as well

Not true. I don't recall as a kid X-Men being woke AT ALL. Neither the old movies and neither the cartoon. They address racism and others things very sudden and discret. Is really disrespectful comparing old movies and old cartoons talking about racism with full woke games like those.

Now, If you are talking about modern movies like 'Dark Phoenix', maybe you can talk. Otherwise is just BS and bad faith argument.

Is like saying LOTR is feminism because of the scene 'No man can kill me, 'I'm not a man'.

It was also before Debra Wilson blew up and became the go-to strong, older black female character. She was excellent in DG.
Days gone is honestly relatively well written imo. I expect John Garvin's departure from Sony will be felt and we'll see a drop in the narration quality in Bend's next game. He's a way better writer than Druckmann.

But the question here would be what 3P exclusives? Realistically we can rule out Square-Enix, Capcom, SEGA, Shift Up, and likely Kojima Productions as well if we are speaking of genuine exclusives. Wouldn't expect anything from the major Western 3P on that front, too.

So that leaves Konami (good likelihood), Koei Tecmo (maybe), and smaller 3P studios.
I wouldnt be surprised over a deal with Capcom, at this point. Or Bandai Namco/Kadokawa.

Will watch for the third-parties. IIRC Capcom showed Dragon's Dogma 2 in a State of Play and there are rumors of a DLC, so...

I'm ready!

i dont think he was talking about movies, after this one we never got another Super game.
Different times and that game is famous for being literal trash, at least the spidey are somehow fun to play and have fun traversal and decent combat.

They should lose all the talent to turn wolvy into another suppy64...

Yes, it'll have a 10 minute side quest about a blind black bald trans woman out of a 30 hour game and gaf will have a meltdown over it just like they did with SM2.
what about the possibility of a gay Logan ?

I would not discard this possibility at all, like i said Insomania + woke Sony.

She doesn't look bad here. A lot of white women decently in-shape and mostly modest make-up on tend to look something like this.

Mary Jane was never a porn star.

If we're talking internally-developed 1P games, most of what they have coming is either GAAS or basically pure speculation at this point. Non-GAAS wise the only titles coming which have been confirmed/revealed are Wolverine, Intergalatic and GOW Trilogy Remake.

Everything else is either long-rumored speculation (TLOU Part 3), recent speculation (GOW spinoff), GAAS (Fairgames, 4Loop), or developed by external 3P partner studios (Kena 2, Silent Hill Townfall, Marvel Tokon, Phantom Blade 0).

Yeah, stands to reason they could show a few more of their internal 1P titles now.

E3 had a particular energy that these new events can't replicate, because with E3 you had the big platform holders all at the same location putting on their very best with their conferences. Why? Because the pressure to beat the other guy was high, and to "win" E3, as it were.

None of the digital events post-E3 have been able to create that same environment, so the quality of the shows have gone down as a result. That pressure combined with the live audience factor also led to some genuinely great (if completely accidental) meme-worthy gaffes that made E3 entertaining and were much funnier than the stale, canned, super-sanitized and pre-scripted "comedy" lines from things like Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards.

I also appreciate that while Hollywoodification was definitely starting to take effect with latter E3s, it never "took over" the gaming the way it has now with the new shows. Since the platform holders largely dictated the pace of things, the Hollywood talent and advertisers never upstaged the actual games or hardware reveals, never got the lion's share of coverage etc. It was much better that way.
Disagree only due to Todd mcfarlane's depiction of MJ.

Not open world. There'll be quite a bit of mobility within the levels, but still separate from each other. Like R&C Rift Apart. And given the story, I wouldn't be surprised if it's totally linear and doesn't allow for traveling back and forth, but that's just my speculation.

Thank goodness it's not open-world. Open-world is starting to get played out honestly, unless you really push it to a limit like Crimson Desert has recently.

There are very few Crimson Deserts in the world.

Wolverine's full leaked story board is on youtube for those curious.
So far nothing shown has indicated they strayed from it.

Personally the only Sony game I'm interested in is Tokon. Give me a release date already.

They've barely shown anything of the story tho, so for all we know a lot may've changed.

I can't remember Sony announcing a State of Play this much in advance. One hour long and they will even be broadcasting in theaters? I think it's the time, this will be a big one.

Let's hope so. It'll be so much egg on their face if this ends up a repeat of the May 2023 SoP.

One of the few problem i had with his writing in days gone was the cringe names he used for some things and maybe too much swearing even if the protagonist was the type that swear a lot in real life too.

Freakers must be the worst name ever invented for zombies and i rolled my eyes everytime they described staying outdoors as the "freakshow".
I know he wanted to somehow emulate naughty dog and their iconic clickers, but clicker is actually a good, fitting name.

But yeah, if you aks me dg was at least overall better written than tlou2 or unchy4, with faaaar more likeable characters, but not perfect.

I would pay good money to see where the story was going after that secret finale, my biggest blue balls momemt from past gen.

My favorite Debra Wilson role will always be her portrayals in MADtv.

No PS6. Maybe a tease of the handheld tho. The handheld would be seen as more of a complement to current PS5 on the market and less of a cannibalization on whatever PS5 hardware sales they're aiming for between now and PS6.

No, Xmen was never "woke". It was progressive, but there's a world's difference between the progressivism of the '60s - '90s (even '00s) and the woke-progressivism that started becoming super-popular in the mid-2010s.

The former didn't denigrate entire majority populations just to spread positivity for minority groups, didn't police language due to "micro-aggressions" (obvious stuff was rightfully condemned tho), didn't ignore context when the topic of language was addressed (i.e you weren't automatically called a homophobe by saying a boss killing you in a video game was "gay"), didn't do rampant race-swaps or gender-bending of established characters just to subvert expectations and divide fanbases, didn't actively antagonize fanbases who disliked changes to beloved IP by calling them istaphobes, etc.

There is a world of difference between the progressivism of stuff like X-Men from those decades (of which the vast majority could and did support, because it was natural and non-invasive/non-antagonistic) and the hardline "woke-progressivism" we've seen over the past 10-15 years in media. No room for conflation here.

Can't see anything with Capcom, but Bandai Namco is a possibility. Particularly if they are still sticking with the current publishing agreement for old PS games on other platforms. If not, then less likely because I can't see what Bandai Namco would get out of a deal otherwise.

Kadokawa is possible but it'd be super-recent, like "title card only" type of reveal for now. Don't expect anything ready for release until 2029-2030 in that case.

Okay I take back what I said earlier. Good Lord MJ is stacked in the back 🤤

Really looking forward to the announcements, besides Wolverine I hope to see the new God of War game with Freya and something from Naughty Dog (either Intergalactic or the new rumored Uncharted game).
Third party I guess FF7R Part3 will be announced either here or at SGF a few days later.
Anyway they have given notice of the event unusually early, hopefully it's because they see this as an important show.

Wolverine deep dive
Firesprite horror game
Intergalactic gameplay reveal
Cory Barlog's new game reveal
Bend announces they're working on Days Gone 2
New partnership between FromSoftware and Sony

That would be one hell of an event and would bring back the feelings of 2015/2016.

They showed Wolverine gameplay on september 2025.

znYK3PmNJrXULJxk.png

They can label the video whatever they want, but if I don't see a hud, that's not gameplay. That trailer was a carefully curated collection of shots from the game. I'm not doubting that those clips weren't in-engine shots, but when we say we want to see gameplay, a one minute 50 seconds video collage is not what we're asking for.
