Selling to the first trillionaire. He loves the name Xbox. He wants his own video game studio. He can take any losses needed to turn things around. All hail Elon!!!

I like that part about Fallout and TES.

It's fucking delressing to think about how long we're already waiting for TES VI and we have no idea when it's coming. Bit let's not forget Fallout either, the wait for 5 already has been long but it's going to be insane at this rate.

We really should've had a spin off by now already.

If XBOX is sold to an outside investor and becomes a joint venture, there's a very good chance only the software publishing arm survives. I don't think the Chinese or Saudi would want to enter the console hardware business at this point in time. They'll only lose money, there's not a cent to be made with an outrageously expensive new console.

They'd only want the AAA titles in the XBOX portfolio (COD, Elder Scrolls, Halo, Forza Horizon and a few other titles). All those other studios are just dead wood. If Asha Sharma doesn't close those studios, then an outside investor most certainly will.
Entering the hardware console business would be a poor investment imo against established players like Sony and Nintendo

Crazy how MS can't ever keep there customers happy with there hardware or anything. MS always fail on the hardware and understanding of it. The moment they lose there business connection. MS could fold bad. 5-10 years from now, customers may not be even using windows of the os
unfortunately i think that google android os for computers they are cooking up will take over. espescially for offices, schools, ect

Oh, it's you guys again. Guess this is never gonna get boring, because it seems to be in your nature?

I wonder if you still will be so satisfied about Xbox going down, when there's basically a Japanese monopoly of Sony and Nintendo.

Only a moron wouldn't want any competition!

A Japanese monopoly in the video game market? Don't threaten me with the best years in gaming.

Nothing wrong with Japan dominating.

The industry was better than ever when we had Sega, Nintendo and Sony in the console space.

Japan clealry knows what they're doing.

He can put XBOX data centers in SPACE! And Elon gets to be the king of any MP ladder that he wants to play.

Edit: Oh God, I can only imagine Grok and X integrated into XBOX platform. It would be amazing (to watch with some popcorn).

Edit 2: Do it Elon, give Satya $100bil worth of SpaceX stock as it's overvalued as hell anyways! 🧐

What would that entail? I'm not sure what that means. So would it be its own company with visible numbers outside MS? Would that help it somehow? I'm genuinely confused.
It would still give Microsoft a lot of control, but XBOX would be accountable for their own financials and could no longer hide results by throwing everything into a bigger Microsoft basket. It could also make XBOX a bit leaner and more agile. They could also form their own partnerships with other gaming companies. Even though I do not like the idea of someone else coming in and swooping them up, it does make it easier for Microsoft to sell if they decided to do that.

Abox, coming to you soon with Apple silicon inside. iBox?

Kidney trades accepted.

(NB: I'm a lifetime Apple user and would actually be stoked.)

Also surely no one could do a better job than Microsoft? O wait...

Does Sega have enough money to hypothetically buy this spun off Xbox entity? Would SNK be interested? Would valve be interested? They've built a strong brand with Steam and are releasing Steam handhelds/pre built PCs. How would you merge the Steam brand and the Xbox brand?

Elon bought Twitter and remolded it into his image. I could see Elon buying Xbox.

They're not selling Xbox you guys. They're outsourcing the risk of the being a hardware manufacturer to the same OEMs who make PC parts. Book it. When buying an Xbox next gen you'll choose between ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and Galax. The PS5 and XSX are the same fucking console. There's no longer a need for special console chip recipes like OG Xbox and PS2. There is no need for Microsoft to burn a single dollar on that stuff. It's all gonna be AMD and Vulkan shit either way.

Xbox said prices are gonna go up 5x on hardware parts. Its clearly not possible to sell a console that is 5x more expensive. That can't be an accurate number surely

All they need to do is publish spec and I/O standards and lets whoever wants to take on the risk of manufacturing them get "Xbox Certified". They could even have 3 specs for different trim levels. Developers get the specs as well and ensure certain levels of performance, and then developer can label the game "Xbox Certified" and you're off to the races. Push all the ecosystem development cost onto hardware OEMs and developers and you've got your middleman fee, but more importantly, the captive audience.
