"Whether I'm fighting for my life, plundering forgotten barrows, or just watching the sun play across the water in a calm moment of respite, Valheim has created a world I'm consistently joyful to live in and discover more of. It's definitely a traditional survival game at heart, which means the further in you get, the more you have to put up with some tedious grinding before you can get back to the good parts. But even at its early access launch, those good parts are already very good, especially when you get to take to the seas or test your skill against its imposing bosses. And the simple but exceptional art and music create a strong sense of place in which to do it all. Grab some mead and come join me by the fire. I don't think you'll be disappointed." - IGN, 2021 review (9/10)

The true omega genre.

I love Valheim, played it 3 years ago and have been waiting for the final release so I am looking forward to jumping in again. Same for Palworld.

This has been the forever game for my wife and I since 2021. We play it so much we had to start calling ourselves Valheim players, not gamers lol.

Super stoked. Might even take some PTO, ha.

A one of a kind game. Played it twice with friends, once vanilla where we rented a server and played for like 9 months, and a second time with mods with a ton of QoL features. Fantastic game.

i love this fkn game. a year ago i was trying to find a fun game to play with my little nephews and found valheim. i had no idea the game even existed. i went full hardcore and beat the game up to that point of what you could progress to.

Here's a video of my final base and some gameplay if anyone is curious about the game. It's pretty fkn fun, and challenging (video has spoilers)

It was very fun both alone and with friends when it launched. I played it for 136 hours.

I don't know if I care to go back though. But back then at least it did the procedural open world adventure survival thing very well. Immersive fun.

Wonderful game. Was the first I played through completely on XCloud.

Not interested in revisiting it for 1.0. Got my fix in EA and left on a high note.

But if you haven't played this yet... It's a must-play! I will be very surprised to hear it doesn't end up in your Top 5 (maybe even Top 3) of the year.

I tried this game a while ago, but the texture graphics were so blurry I refunded it.

I wonder how much it improved during EA, because I gave it a try in its early days when everyone and their grandma was raving about how great it was and frankly I found myself vastly preferring the (even older) Conan Exiles to it.

damn it .. its that time of the year. My Wishlist is lighting up with all these games i wanted.
Valheim vs No rest for the wicked.
By the way is this cross play? can i play with my son if his on Ps5?

Help me understand because I tried and it was boring as shit, what is this game, why is it good?
The optimum way to play this is coop with a crew of people who can play regularly, like a D&D campaign. The world is procedurally generated so there is no guide. The goal is to progress through the biomes and kill the end boss of each biome. In order to do this, you will need to establish a base where you can manufacture the food and gear you will need. Player power comes entirely from gear and food buffs, so higher tier biomes have the mats for higher tier stuff.

The gameplay loop is that you build a base (with fortifications because it will get attacked), explore the biome, gather materials, build the highest tier stuff for the biome you are in, and then kill the boss. You have to find the boss, which often involves clearing dungeons for location clues or just exploring. With friends it's a very fun time. Best to eventually get a persistent server so the hardcore can farm mats and group time can focus on combat.

Thank you sire. I get it now. Not my kind of game but it does sound very cool.

Valheim and Enshrouded get 1.0 within days. RIP free time… Add also that around the period RS: Dragonwilds get 1.0 as well.
