DF: Orbis vs Durango Spec Analysis

No, but they have had a ton of input on the Nokia designs, to ensure they co-ordinate with the rebranding of Windows Phone. They're fairly responsible for what they did to make those look "different."

Nah. This is baseless. Especially for the 800/900s which are using a design made before WP came into the picture.

In case anyone missed my edited post. Heres how it compares to the Wii U. Its overall smaller! Twice as thick(this thing is fat!), but its shorter and a not as wide.

Orbis: 25cm deep x 14cm long x 10cm high vs
Wii U: 27cm deep x 17cm long x 4.5 cm high

I dont know if I believe this... does Wii U have an external PSU?

Anyone know what the PS3 super slim dimensions? here how it compare to the Wii U for examble:

How can you determine design just based on dimensions?
You can determine the shape. Again, I would be fine with a similar shape to the 360 slim or PS3 slim.

It's the 'thickness' of the console that worries me. Look at the Gamecube for example - it looks atrocious, and would not fit in my TV stand (which has gaps for DVD players/PS3/360 etc)

Perhaps it's 14cm deep and 25cm long

I would guess that based on the designs of previous PlayStations, the PS4 will be wider than it is deep. With an asymmetrical disc slot. So the opposite of the WiiU, which is deeper than it is wide.

So the PS4 is likely to be:

25cm Width x 14cm Depth x 10cm Height

Yea you both may be right. Compared to the Wii U though, how would this thing avoid overheating problems? The total power draw has got to be a lot higher. The GPUs and CPU are a lot more powerful. I know Nintendo said they had a lot of issues with keeping the heat down.

edit: I'm assuming thats what the extra thinkness would be for if it wasn't already taken up with the HDD and disc drive.

I wanted something a bit bigger then a ps3 slim. Why are all these companies so focused on making everything small? Especially on something that will not move from your living room. I'm worried about cooling and clock speed. If they go a bit bigger, I bet they could more easily raise clock speed which the cpu probably needs and gpu would benefit from. Cooling wouldn't be as difficult. It's a stupid compromise just for the form factor.

Thuway is there any upgrades to ram or orbis that we don't know about? No need for details, just rumours are saying both consoles are a little updated from vgleaks and wondering if your sources said the same. Need some hope lol

Less/smaller materials = Less cost to manufacture
Smaller/less weight of a product = Cheaper to package/ship around the world to different retailers

"Deep"? Volume is typically length, width and height. Deep sounds like a synonym for length, not width.

All of this > 4 GB GDDR5 talk needs to end. I will eat my feathers if the machine has a single MB greater than 4 GB GDDR5. It is quite an accomplishment they even have that.

Additionally, some people's consoles, do in fact move from their living rooms, at least enough to warrant these things not being the size of ,say a pc or something. Then there is a matter of if these things aren't gonna be decently sized compared to, once again, say a pc, what's the point?

Poorly worded! There will be some storage MB for firmware. Prepare to eat those feathers. :D

Hell jeah at that form factor and external power brick. Hoping for a top loading spindle drive with properly sound dampened lid/enclosure although with that much internal volume kinda doubt it. :/ The simpler they make it mechanically, the less can go wrong. After last generation shenanigans reliability is a key feature to me.

EDIT: if the front of the console were slanted they could make it a front loading spindle drive similar to some Bang & Olufsen CD players. That would be too awesome to actually happen though.

I haven't seen PS4 people. -_-

This is the last major leak from me, and honestly, it's all I know:

25 x 14 x 10
external psu

Figure the dimensions out yourself and get to drawing :).

Only just seen this, interesting. Surprised it's not spread to the other threads?

It will either be 4 or 8 [most probably 4]. Chances of them redesigning memory controller are 0.

Agreed. Just to give you guys any bit of comfort, Leadbetter has told me himself, he has heard nothing beyond 4 GB GDDR5. So squash it, unless Gopher knows something last minute.

You hinted at something. The hype gates have opened...
