Synopsis: 30 young men and women who came together on a shady bus tour. The tour's destination: an illusive, possibly nonexistent village called Nanakimura. In Nanakimura, one can lead a utopian existence, free of the world's obstacles … or so it was rumored, like an urban legend.
"In despair over the real world ... wanting to escape the tedious daily life … wanting to restart your life from scratch…"
The bus headed deep into the mountains, carrying 30 people each harboring their own expectations and wounds in their hearts…
And so, the place these 30 arrived at, was an uninhabited village with the lingering faint scents of life, even though it was falling apart.
What is the truth of Nanakimura facing the 30?

What's the thread title explanation? They thought they were going to something like Tokyo Disneyland?

Couldn't decide what else to watch for Spring. I'll add this to my list. Thanks for the OT.

is this like Saw on a bus? or more akin to something like Battle Royale? either way I'm expecting some despair and craziness.

It's spelled out a little in the synopsis, but yeah, they were seeking Utopia....

If you haven't seen Another, you will understand the potential direction this series goes by the darker concept art at the bottom of the OT, as well as the first gif.. And yeah, Ms drama is the writer...

Another? damn I've only seen that series through rather hilarious gifs and webms. This should be interesting to watch lol

Watched the first episode, definitely has potential I think. Hard to say much more than that since not too much happened yet but I like the diverse cast of characters.

Masaki is really cute and it was pretty great that she threw up on the driver

Ok this was good! The intros were a little long and I'll never remember 75% of those names but I want to know what happens when they cross the bridge dammit!!

Also this really feel like when something will happen it will be both graphic and full of gore.

Masaki or Lion?

Give it another week, but from the OP Masaki..

Episode 1
Ok, I'm on board. The beginning of the OP was weird, but the rest of the song was good. ED was ok. Quite the diverse cast to start the show off with; everyone from Mits, Masaki, Lion, Speedy and the asshole guy starting shit with everyone. The actual character introductions were funny as hell, lol. They did a good job of setting the tone for the future and included a ton of foreshadowing with sone of the conversations between the characters and the stories being told. Oh,I mean, even the hippo song was a big tip-off to where this is going to go, as well as his "death letter" that will come into play later as he will realize there was no reason to run away from his current life to start anew. Pretty clever (although transparent) if it plays out.

Being an original anime makes this even more interesting because there should be no hinting going on or accidental spoilers.

Episode 1

Well, this definitely feels like another horror-comedy from Mizushima.

The premise makes a lot more sense after watching this episode. It's thirty people who signed up for a bus tour buried in the depths of the internet so they could start their lives over in a legendary ghost town. Why has this town remained undiscovered so long? Who knows. But the online connection that drew everyone onto this tour means that everybody is referring to themselves by their online handles. Thus, we are blessed with some incredible names.

Unfortunately, none of these people seem to be major characters.

The first five minutes or so are entirely self-introductions from everyone in the cast, with characters all across the spectrum from well-adjusted to deeply disturbed. It's a lot to take in, but as the episode goes along it's clear that only five or six characters really matter at this point. It's not exactly an eventful episode, but it does enough to establish that some of the seemingly-normal characters aren't exactly how they portray themselves, and that things are probably going to get violent one way or another eventually.

There's enough absurdity within the cast that you can't take it too seriously, but even so it still manages to build a pretty unsettling mood sometimes. As I said, if you've been on the Mizushima Express before, you know what you're getting into. And if you haven't, why not see what it's like?

The ED seems totally unfinished.

Best characters: Rapper, Narna (the one who brought candy), the couple.

One of the oddest first episodes I've seen in a while. Tonally all over the place, couldn't figure out if it was taking itself seriously or had its tongue firmly planted in its cheek. Pacing also made no sense with all those introductions and the driver going from sane to breakdown and back again in record time. The hippo song was pretty funny though.

I couldn't spot a single moment when the show was taking itself seriously.

Lol, the bus scene it did, well, until Mizushima left her dinner all over the bus driver. I think they mixed the comedy in there to show the mood of the passengers on day 1. They mixed in sone of the underlying tone of darkness and despair though....

I can see the despair miles before the bus gets there

Yup.. it's about to go down...

What did I just watch. Almost School Days level of randomness. Think I'll hold off on this one and read further impressions.

While the opening episode was definitely eccentric and random, I have faith in this staff that this was done purposely to exemplify the diverse and eclectic nature of the characters and their dispositions. Hopefully, they clean this up a little now that most character introductions have been done and can get to the meat of the story.

Hell, I'm in. I have no idea what I'm supposed to expect, and this won't be a proper mystery show, but I guess I can enjoy the ride. I mean, you have 30 characters, a lot of them are going to die and if this is going to be a hilarious dark comedy as people say, I think I'm in. First episode was enjoyable, even though I don't remember most of the characters. The girl that was crying because of the hippo is cute, I hope she won't end up as a crazy person, because she totally seemed like one.

Also, I just saw that Masaki is 17. I didn't expect this. Everyone looks so younger actually.

I really liked Another and it's batshit insane ending so i'll definitely give this one a go since the director worked on Another and the premise is interesting.

So I've watched Another over yesterday and today, and this has opened my eyes. One of the better comedies I've seen. Has a very nice blend of eerie atmosphere, comfyness, intrigue and hilarious situations. The endgame was delicious.
Can recommend.

I now know how to watch Mayoiga and this is going to be a lot of fun if it's going to be similiar.
Looking forward to seeing all of them hilariously die. I'm all aboard the bus-ride for now.

Now that's the spirit, lol

Thought I would love this show, but after 2 episodes it still feels like it's stuck in the prologue. I'm really not sure what type of vibe this show is going for. It doesn't feel eerie, just absurd. There was a couple moments in episode 1 that had a Paranoia Agent feel, but aside from that I'm really not sure where this show is headed. I guess we're about to start getting some Battle Royale elements, and probably some paranormal stuff too, so I guess the show's gonna kick into gear sometime soon.

Right now, I'm not loving it, but I'm still interested. My plot twist prediction:
Hayato isn't real

Ok, this was all set -up for next week. The rapper dude is a creepy rapey douche and needs to die first. We know the girl lives because she is all over the OP and concept art, but interesting way to set everything up. Not too shocking that the village is empty and the weird stuff going on. Decent set-up episode, but a little slow. Hopefully, the real action and drama starts to kick in next week.

Offscreen kills are cheap.
Everyone is either dumb as a brick, insane, or both.
Chuuni-eyepatch and execution girl continue to be entertaining.

In short: it's pretty fun.

Ok, wtf was any of this in the episode? What kind of writing is this? What even happened at the end, I couldn't see what Mai was yelling at him about after Loveporn tried drowning him. This is just messed up in an awful way... I don't know if I should be laughing histarically or crying...

She saw the guy who went missing's dead body floating in the water.

Well I watched the first three episodes and I don't know what to think. It's not bad, but its not great. I just get this feeling that this show has some potential. Like this village could be anything. A monster could show up and start killing people. Who knows wtf is going to happen. I want to see more of lovepon at the very least. Best girl lol.

Edit: I don't know what else to watch this season. I'm loving my hero academia, but that is pretty much the only new show i'm really into. I hope lost village gets better.

ReZero and Twin Star Exorcist are both pretty good.

Mayoiga has great potential as a comedy. They're also obviously (and hopefully) going to die one by one. No other reason to have such a huge cast! That will be fun.
Except Lovepon and Hyouketsu-kun, those two have to survive until the end, because they are the best.

Crackpot theory: Rapper dude could have been killed by the bear or whatever else is out there. But what if he was killed by Masaki and her story was really a lie?

Here's a list of the good stuff (imho):

Re:Zero: boy transported into fantasy world... with an interesting twist. It also has some very good dialogue, character interactions and action. The first episode is double length and a bit slow, but the second half should have your interest and so far it's only been getting better!
Kagewani S2: 8 minute anime, so the first season should take you about 2 hours. Its an excellent creepy/horror/atmospheric anime.
Kiznaiver: I'm still not exactly sure where it's going, but so far it's been a great ride, it's full of energy. It's about a group of people who get 'connected by their wounds'.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: If you liked Attack on Titan, you may want to check this out. And if not, you may still end up liking it. It's basically Attack on Titan in a victorian steampunk setting with zombies and trains. It's also pretty stunning visually.
Bunguo Stray Dogs: It's about a group of people with supernatural abilities, the Armed Detective Company, who have to solve supernatural crimes. Has a nice mix of comedy and seriousness. I personally didn't like episode 1 all that much but found 2 and 3 very great, but it was the opposite for others so ymmv with this one.

And then of course there's also always JoJo, with part 4 airing right now (and it's great). You could in theory watch it on its own, but I'd advise going through the other parts. They are all pretty good on their own, and it's just cool seing both the artstyle, storytelling and powers evolve.
