I suppose this is a valid enough reason to keep a thread open.
He clarified later he meant it was buried by placement. He could have been covering for his urgency, or he could have been telling the truth. I did find it somewhat buried, especially compared to the placement that other types of gun stories get.

The idea that this should be front page news. Why? Should we be cheering and celebrating?
Is it supposed to be 'educational' for people that want some smart gun control?
Is it to be an advertisement that more people should have their weapons on them because we expect more public shootings?
I am not a big fan of CNN, but it would be a bit strange to see the day lead with this story. Buried but not ignored, if that what it was, makes sense.

I agree it would be strange if CNN preempted their daily Trump farted, Trump banged a pornstar, etc., with something like this. I'd be running to my Ipad to see if they finally fired the guy who turned them into the anti-Trump tabloid they seem to have become.

Unfortunately, there really aren't that many. Which is why CNN transformation pisses me off. They were what I considered my go to for years. I admit it is quite possibly my views have changed and they were always this way, but 2017-2018 CNN is not much better than the tabloids these days IMO.
I’d say there aren’t any. All news sources get money from viewers and readers. So they are gonna promote stories that gets viewers talking and reading and coming back. Front page and 24 hour news cycles are gonna be focused on that and it’s the way it gonna be
It doesn’t mean that all the news posted is fake. It certainly doesn’t mean that they will refuse to print real news (which was the cause of this wonderful thread backfire). But it does mean you are gonna wade through some sensationalism and over reporting because that’s what pays the bills. For some what about ism, I checked Fox News and literally the first article had Obama’s name on it. Fucking of course. Doesn’t mean the story isn’t true.... but fucking of course
I don't agree with the Faux News talking point, but I do agree they are partisan and hyperventilate way too much. Sucks, but I am afraid you are right that it won't be getting better. I'm not giving up hope yet though. I'd like to think someone could start small, essentially as a news aggregator while they build a revenue stream to start hiring reporters, prohibit commentary in actual news articles, and completely walling off their opinion page from the first page from day 1 until the end. I'd like to think there are enough people sick of the partisan crap to prop that up.
Just look at this forum and what topics get the most views and most play. Usually something partisan. Partisan shit is like college sport rivalries, people just can’t get enough.
