I'm 100% sure there is no "save scum protection". The game just reads the data, it doesn't write it. And if you are loading a previous save it doesn't save anything so to the game it is the first time you have scanned it today.

I have noticed that if I load my game and scan immediately, I get repetitive results. If I move just an inch or face a different direction, it seems to return to random results.

I never tested beyond three scans without moving because it was already taking hours to get the Time, Hero, Wind, and Twilight outfits, Sheik's Mask, Twilight Bow, Sword, Big Goron's Sword, and Epona.

Yeah, definitely seemed like the best two of the bunch. Picked them up at Walmart yesterday.
