I only eat the Massive McMuffin and BK's equivalent here. Both have always had ketchup lol.
Look, tomato sauce goes with everything, mate. Especially breakfast items. Put a bit of brown sauce on it as well while you're at it. Wallop.

Breakfast sandwiches aren't saucy, period. Maybe a rare bit of hollandaise, but that's what melty cheese is for.

Nah, I wouldn't say it's an American thing, I grew up non American and we!ve been putting ketchup on breakfast sandwiches since forever.

That bacon has meat on it. American bacon is just crispy fat covered in syrup.

I'm sure a lot of people do like it. I know people who like ketchup on their eggs. Not my cup of tea though. Tried it once and it was disgusting.
