CW Confirms Arrow/Flash Spin-Off Superhero team show starring ATOM/Firestorm/CC/BC

I was kinda wondering what was going to happen with ATOM since he seems super out of place in the Arrow show universe at the moment.

His humor and positivity is definitely appreciated in what has been an extremely dower season so far, but his storyline was such a minor part of the season up to this point that barely (never?) really tied into the main story at all.

I'm up for this series though. If it manages to have any of the fun of this first season of The Flash I'll definitely watch it.

EXCLUSIVE: Another popular recurring DC character from the Arrow-Flash universe is boarding the CW’s proposed spinoff from the two superhero dramas. The new Flash villainous duo of Captain Cold/Heat Wave will be staying intact as Dominic Purcell has joined Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber and Caity Lotz in the superhero team-up show from Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.

Purcell will reprise his role as Mick Rory, a pyromaniac who finds an outlet for his obsession with fire when he teams up with Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and becomes the villain known as Heat Wave. The new project, eyed for a midseason launch next season, extends the Flash reunion of Prison Break stars Miller and Purcell and would mark the first series regular gigs for both actors since the cult Fox drama.

Routh and Garber also are set to reprise their popular Arrow/Flash characters — Arrow‘s Ray Palmer/The Atom (Routh) and Flash‘s Dr. Martin Stein (Garber). Because her Arrow character Sara Lance was killed off, with her sister Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) taking over as the Black Canary, it is still TBD whether Lotz will play the same or new superhero on in the spinoff.

Speaking of Flash dynamic duos, Garber’s Stein is flying solo on the new show for now as Robbie Amell, who has played his other half, Firestorm, did not sign for the project. As we previously revealed, the spinoff series will include three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a TV series.

Flash and Arrow trailers released this past weekend tease upcoming episodes of the two series featuring the Atom, Captain Cold and Heat Wave. You can watch them below.

Berlanti and Kreisberg, who also co-created The Flash, executive produce the new series alongside Guggenheim and Sarah Schechter for Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Prods.

I'm guessing the main draw will be the three people not announced yet and they're just filling the support staff with recognizable names from Arrow and Flash.

A guy who's one half of a dude that can turn into a flying fire thing
A reincarnated girl who can became an ancient Egyptian winged warrior when she's stressed
A time traveling rogue
A hammy swaggerific villain
A pyromaniac

And we're assuming time travel shenanigans? Something involving mysticism? Good guys turned bad? Resurrected assassins or time displaced?

Man, I'm lost but intrigued as to how all this is gonna click together.

I totally missed this news until a day ago. Not sure what to make of it, but I loved Sara in Arrow and Captain Cold in The Flash, so I'm intrigued at least.

god damn captain cold and the hot guy are the worst god damned actors, i almost have to not watch the episodes theyre in. its just sooooo terrible.

Heatwave does nothing for me, but I just don't see how anyone can hate Wentworth's Captain Cold. It's so fun and perfect for the tone of these shows.

Funnily enough me and my wife have just started watching Prison Break for the first time, watched the first 4 episodes i believe. Enjoying it so far, the twists and shit going wrong for the plan is fun to watch unfold.

As for their performances in The Flash, i really enjoy hem too, a lot of fun and just the right amount of cheese for the characters.

Yeah, I think Wentworth hits the right amount of cheesy. Purcell on the other hand just goes too far into it, he always looks and sounds ridiculous.

they werent that horrible in the only season of prison break that wasnt garbage but they are god damned terrible in this.

I love Captain Cold, he is both awesome and fun.

Whatever this is, I'll watch. Just wonder what the premise for the show will be. Like what will be the focus. I really hope this is alluded to or something in either Flash or Arrow before end of the season. Like how Arrow was hinting at Flash all season long for season 2.

Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter is a pretty cool casting choice ... I'm interested. That, and Brandon Routh has been killing it on Arrow, in my opinion -- even if he doesn't really belong there.

Would watch it even if solely for the Miller/Purcell duo, and Routh has really grown on me as Palmer as well.
