I hope this is a list of modern games from the last few years, if this is all-time I weep for the future of gaming...
Indeed. No mention of KotOR or Baldur:s Gate saga either. No mention of MGS3 in the list at all. Null and void.
Is the Saturn one just called bomberman, because that's the one they should really be picking.
Dark Souls and Bloodborne in the top ten is interesting. I guess clunky mechanics and poor combat need love too.
They are always gushing over Destiny.32 - Destiny
This can't be real.
87 - Puzzle Bobble (1994)
82 - Bomberman (1983)
63 - Castlevania SotN (1997)
60 - Earthbound (1994)
57 - Puyo Puyo (1991)
31 - Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991)
21 - Super Metroid (1994)
15 - Super Mario World (1990)
13 - Super Mario 64 (1996)
08 - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
06 - Tetris (1984)
:-(
So many glaring omissions. Awful list.
In the Bomberman article of 2007's list they specifically state that Saturn Bomberman is the best one.Bomberman?
I hope that's just a listing for the series in general because that's definitely a game where the sequels improved on the formula.
For example Bomberman II is the game that introduced battlemode, which the series is famous for.
3 Souls games in the top 20, but only one Bayonetta game on the entire list.
Madness.
Dark Souls and Bloodborne in the top ten is interesting. I guess clunky mechanics and poor combat need love too.
I don't agree with a lot of it, but kudos for ignoring nostalgia & not giving games points just because they were older.
I'm willing to respect the rest of the list.... but Drive Club?????
Driveclub should be higher
Dark Souls and Bloodborne in the top ten is interesting. I guess clunky mechanics and poor combat need love too.
There's no Devil May Cry period, or Ninja Gaiden. List is trash. No Devil May Cry 3 either.
Drop 7 is a better video game than Skyrim.
Still can't get over Destiny...
No Suikoden 2 makes the entire list invalid.
To be fair it's virtually impossible to make a list of the top 100 games without glaring omissions.
Agreed. Almost broke my hand clicking on the list last time someone did thatThanks for not spoiler tagging the list, OP.
I understand that, but no Chrono, MGS 1-3? Missing some classics.
I think it's interesting how most of these lists that feature classic games typically have games that haven't necessarily aged well or are outdated compared to later titles. And then here's one that just decides to omit most classic games entirely.
If anything I think it shows how segmented the retro gaming community is from the modern gaming community. You don't see tons of people who heavily follow the latest releases scouring eBay for some sought after Sega CD game, so it's not very likely that the publications covering new releases will have played those games.

TLOU should be No.1TLOU and GTA5 before HL2
Wtf is wrong with gaming press
