APB must have been a total hell.
You got one of the most expensive games ever made. You're trying to make a GTA MMO, you have the creator of GTA behind you. The publishers go in and force an insane business model that dooms the game.
The developers cannot make a good action game, and they cannot make a good MMO. The game is fucked. So they delay it. The driving sucks, the shooting sucks. Delay it some more. It is totally fucked, and it just gets worse and worse.
Once you reach a certain point, you cannot stop. You're over 100 million dollars in the red, and you need to recoup what you can. So you have to release a broken game and essentially do the best to get people to buy it.
This is going on, while F2P is being revolutionized on PC. Suddenly, there are good F2P games, and you're stuck with these publishers who are completely clueless and who think they know better than the developers who make the game. Nobody was going to pay a subscription for a online action game. The people who made these decisions where insane.
It's really sad
