Nah, the story to me doesn't matter in the slightest if the game is fun/balanced, etc... Granted, that was an issue, but I don't think it's at the forefront of the game's problems. Removal of features/game modes, map breaking abilities/perks, map design, lack of incentive to win (ranks), dull or overly repetitive modes (SpOps, etc), net code/lag, and similar would all take precedence over the story not making sense or being easy to follow... for me anyways.
I know people are heavily invested in the story of John Halo & co. though so I can see why that would be off-putting for some, but if the gameplay is fun, it shouldn't be the biggest issue on the board.
Wasn't this the Bornstellar Didact, or did I totally misunderstand how that went down? My understanding was the original Didact is dead and that Bornstellar eventually became the Didact memories/personality/appearance and all.

He just did.

You need to read the rest of the books but
I thought the Terminals in Halo 3 showed that the Librarian died on Earth just below Mt Kilimanjaro whereOnce I played multiplayer and realized that the game wasn't really Halo and went further with the formula introduced in Reach that I hated, the campaign was the only thing I was looking forward to.
The campaign is awful not only bc of the story but also bc of level design. After finishing the campaign I thought that all the levels were ripped out of previous halo campaigns and were put together to make a "greatest hits" version. I wanted something fresh and all I got was rehashed levels.
You need to read the rest of the books but essentially,
The Didact is sent to die in a flood system but comes back to stop the flood. He doesn't really help the Forerunners out much bc he hates humanity. he goes to Omega Halo and uses the composer to kill all the humans on the Halo. The Librarian then forces him into a Cryptum where he sleeps until he is awoken by Chief in Halo 4. Bornstellar or IsoDidact activates the rings and then along with the Librarian reintroduces humans back into the galaxy. He then leaves with her to an unknown location. He's still out there probably.
Chief would never go rouge.
I thought the Terminals in Halo 3 showed that the Librarian died on Earth just below Mt Kilimanjaro where, and the Isodidact died with all other life on the Lesser Ark when he activated the Halos?some flood gave her a final message from the gravemind
Not spoilering because the terminals are ~7 years old now.
The sand planet, is it the Elite's home world?
He just did.

Possibly. It fits the bill of being Sanghelios with the two moons as long as we're talking about the concept art with the buildings and not the Chief and other Spartan temp box art.
Hopefully they bring back Neil Davidge, and hopefully they actually put Neil Davidge's score in the game this time. That would be real swell.
I think they will set him up as an ally to Chief and keep Chief the main character for this game and then if the new guy is well liked they will give Chief a hero's death in Halo 6 and make the new guy the new main character.
You're right about her. She did die but in the booksGuilty Spark believes she is alive and then hijacks the UNSC ship to go to her

According to halopedia theIsoDidact exiled himself with the rest of the forerunners in order for humanity to grow without the interference of the Forerunners.

Two 'women' are the reason Chief survives in Halo 4.The Librarian gives him powers to survive the composer, and Cortana saves him at the end with all her cloning magic
They need to pick up Marty
Eh, it would be pretty cool. However the reveal trailer at E3 2013 had some pretty cool music in it.
Just finished halo 4's singleplayer, it was pretty amazing. I don't have gold so I won't be trying halo 4 online.
Its hard to take chief seriously since he never takes off his damn helmet and you can't read his emotions. Add onto that his monotone voice and it's kind of awkward to see him in these dramatic cortonna/chief scenes. He's almost as bad of a protagonist as kratos is, as far as the player being able to relate to. I guess chief's humanity is one of the themes they're going to explore under 343's direction.
The MC wasn't originally designed to be relatable. There are quite a few quotes from Bungie both past and present saying he was meant to be a vehicle for the player, a shell for you to place yourself in and become the hero that he is. This is something that has obviously changed direction with 343 in control, but it will probably be a while before we see it pay off in any way.
Oh god, please no.Does anybody else think that the Chief will be getting powers in Halo 5? I won't be shocked when he does bc of the Librarian

He had far more depth in the novels, so there's that.

I'm going to laugh so hard if we find out that Chief has Bornstellar's gees in him.
Gameplay aside, it would just take an already awful narrative to new extremes. I don't want Chief to be a pre-ordained Superman. If they are only at the campaign and firefight/spartan ops it's alright, just keep them out of the multiplayer.
Chief would never go rouge.
He just did.
They know better by now than to do something like that in a game. The vast majority would be completely without context if that was brought up.
Yes, Halo 4's music as whole was amazing too.
Halo 4 is easily my favorite, but I agree with just about everything you say here. The villain could've been much better, but the sad thing is that he still ended up being better than the villains in any of the other Halo games. I'm confident he'll be back in part 5, so maybe they'll step him up a notch.
The sand planet, is it the Elite's home world?
Plot twist: Chief was Simmons all along.
I think you're wrong there. I could read every emotion of him because he was me. That's the concept of a faceless hero. Its hard to take chief seriously since he never takes off his damn helmet and you can't read his emotions. @Halo 5 discussion
I think 343i has to introduce a new enemy. Not just one, a whole race with thinking individuals, like the Elites in previous Halo games. I don't like the concept of 1 enemy with brainless robots.
