Would anyone think he'd even respond?
My apologies to all indie devs - I forgot that you only tell the truth on internet forums, and I won't question anything or play devil's advocate again in the future. Best only to see one side of the issue anyway, right guys?
This should be brought to court, this is disgusting.
Looks neat. Did they provide you with sales numbers or were yours goofed too?
Hope shit works out for you and this bad press greases the wheels.
I personally haven't had a big company screw me...but I've had friends chase money from big companies for weeks before getting paid. It's sad how big corporations think they can walk allover the little guy.I've worked contact work almost all my professional life, and sadly stuff like this isn't rare even with big corporations.
Indeed.

XBLIG sale stats are regularly frozen or sometimes disappear in a black hole for weeks, I stopped paying attention to it a long time ago.
Your seething sarcasm comes across as amazingly arrogant, and I don't think you're going to last very long. Acting like a jackass on here, for no reason, and especially when you're speaking from a position of total ignorance, doesn't reflect well on you.
Maybe nobody bought his awful looking game, thus no check?
No really, what were the sales? Do we know? How much does MS take? Doesn't look like a #1 best seller, just sayin'
You guys are classy as hell, damn! No possibility this dev is salty about a $2 check from MS? How credible is this dev? Are we being reactionary by throwing MS under the bus with a huge lack of facts? Sorry for my useless input!

You started the atmosphere with your wording.Judging from the response to my original post in this thread, this isn't an environment I'm interested in posting in anyway. Good day to you sirs!

Hey look, the shitty business practice defense force! Awesome!

I've worked at one of the larger credit management/information companies for quite some years. This is par for the course. They're banking on these small devs swallowing everything because they don't have money to lawyer up. Basically if a company like MS is one day late, you should immediately send reminder invoices and threaten legal action / enlisting a collection agency. And even then they're calculating only a few go to court and they make enough interest off the rest. But the moment lawsuits are being fought for a few dollars, credit information agencies know what's up.I personally haven't had a big company screw me...but I've had friends chase money from big companies for weeks before getting paid. Each quarter Microsoft then pays said developers their portion of the games sales. The system itself also includes a clause that payment is not considered late until its beyond 45 days after the stated payment date.
the new parity policy meaning an indie game cant be released on the Xbox one unless it either releases first on Xbox One or on all platforms at the same time.

That doesn't sound good at all, especially so when you're selling digital products that should be easily traceable and difficult to account forbon your end since there's nothing physical to account for. How are you even sure that the amount you sold is actually accurate if you can't trust the system to give the stats? Do you have such problems with Sony, Nintendo and Steam, if you have games on their services and if you can comment?

Of course that is his answer, was anyone thinking he would say something different?

This is a silly statement.
Less competition is never good for the consumer.

And on the 3rd day Lord Bish said let us moderate GAF in our image. Browsing the threads of the land he found one primitive creature resigned to tactics of debased tomfoolery. With his swift hand of justice given unto him by the hands of Evil surname Lore, he struck him in the ribs and forcefully took them away. "Alas, here is Banned of thy Banned. I shall call it Banned for it is the bane of my existence."Judging from the response to my original post in this thread, this isn't an environment I'm interested in posting in anyway. Fucking hell. I planned on having my XBLIG revenues for next week, but now I'm fucked and I will have to borrow...
What a fucking disgrace.

60 days is not much to get concerned about IMO. Most companies have a 90 days policy for these kind of transactions. I sure know my company uses a 90 days policy.

90 days late?

Yeah. That's NET 60, NET 90. Common business things, but this is like tacking on an extra 3 weeks to NET 90.
That's fucked up.
It varies from work place to work place. I did work for hisd in Houston once and they operated on 90 days.
Thing is, you're supposed to know that policy up front to let your contact work budget around said periods. If I'm expecting pay in 30 days and its not coming for 90, I'm probably going to be living poor for a bit.
