I understand but I think the day of is too last minute, I think the day before would be best.
I agree.

Alrighty then. While I support the general idea, I'll echo the thoughts of some other posters saying the day before would perhaps be most appropriate. They tend to be Monday's for many releases and it seems logical to throw the thread up at the beginning of the week just before the game is released.Generally these should follow the same rules we've had before, i.e we typically don't encourage directionless hype threads.
it was always fun seeing the hype accumulate in OTs over the week, until it exploded magnificently like a giant penis ejaculating on release day
seems like the right move though
Are we going by NA releases?

Agreed, 24 hours prior to release, a place to get excited with others and even get some feedback from those who got the game early.
The "place to get excited" part is one of the main concerns in the first place. We get communities forming before the game is even out that are established based on being incredibly hyped for something (which, by its nature, is all positivity), and then someone comes in with a dissenting opinion and they're run out of town. We want OTs to be where people talk about the game they're playing, not the game they're anticipating.

Hmm, I think some of the most fun and 'hype-inducing' convos happen in the week lead up to a game's release, that's too bad.
In all seriousness, where then to start a hype thread where you and other like minded hypist can hype each other up?
Great idea. Destiny was on its 2nd thread before the game even came out lol.

You guys should make it so that users should wait till games are officially announced before they can claim to do the OT too. Not just hinted at in development.

Good idea but I agree day of release is a little late, day before would be better I think. Also maybe we should have prerelease/hype threads too.
