Rare Replay |OT| Jetpacks and Googly Eyes, Here We Come

The only notes I missed and had to use a guide for in my recent Kazooie playthrough were the ones behind the camera in the snake charmer room.

Is there any way to check how many mumbo tokens/skulls you've found on each level? I am 100%inf each level but I noticed the skulls arent included. I would hate too 100% everything in the game only to realize I missed like two skulls god knows where

No, there's no way to check how meny you've gotten--or how many there are--on each level. There are 115 Mumbo tokens in the game; you only need 75 of them for all of the transformations. The designers clearly did not intend for you to get every single one.

If not getting them all really bothers you, though, you're probably going to be playing the game for a long time if you don't use a guide... Also, one of them is permanently missable, so keep that in mind.

I never thought that in 2015 I'd be spending so much time playing a 360 remake of a Nintendo 64 game on my Xbox One.

If I were to start banjo kazooie right now and play a decent amount tonight, tomorrow, and monday..would I be able to finish it before I pick up Until Dawn on tuesday morning? How long does it take to 100% it?

You should be able to beat it in 15 hours or less for your first time.

Don't rush BK. Come back after Until Dawn and take your time to enjoy the masterpiece. IMO it's 20-25 hours to 100% at first playthrough.

i started it...but I think I already missed a honeycomb. In the first area, there is one too high above the totem thing that I already broke. Did I just miss that completely? or can I get it later?

Edit: nvm, left and came back and it was there again

I've tried Perfect Dark yesterday and ran into a room and pushed accidently a table in front of the door. Couldn't leave the room any more. This probably put me off the game for quiet some time. :/

Damn, JFG has not held up as well as I thought it would.

Still enjoying it, but damn if my hype for this wasn't the clearest case of rose tinted glasses ever.

Blast Corps though. Glorious. I need a new game using the Geo Mod 2.0 engine or the cloud tech MS is working on. Either one works for me.

How many notes can I miss in Banjo and still beat the game? There always seems to be a few I can't find in each stage. It kills my enjoyment having to search around and around. Eventually I give up and look online but I hate doing that.

In the last area that I did, Clanker's Cavern, there was some pipe that I had to jump onto that I could barely see on the screen.

There's 6 notes yet again I can't find on the swamp stage. Maybe it has something to do with the indestrucable egg. I wonder if I should just leave.

Thanks! Guess I won't go for all those.

So I have 100%ed 7 levels and found two cheats. Can someone tell me if the clock world is next or the 9th level? I'm ridiculously stumped in the gruntilda hub world.

EDIT: Well, just found the third cheat. Was really hoping it would lead to a switch or something but I'll take it

Edit 2: Nevermind! It was a switch, yesssss

Just finished Banjo Kazooie for the first time ever last night; never played it on N64 despite owning the system. I think my final time count was around 22 hours. Very enjoyable! Will definitely be starting Tooie soon.

There's 900 notes in the game (100 per world), you need 810 to open the door to the final boss. You need 882 to open some extra bonus power-up doors there, but they aren't really that critical.

And man, if you think it's bad here, in the original N64 version if you died you had to recollect all the notes again to break your previous record. Took me forever as a kid.

Unless you stop every three steps to pan the camera that's way to long. Back in the day I 100% the game in just over 8 hours first time through. Second time was just over/under 3 hours. When I replayed it on 360 it only took 4.5 hours and I had forgotten most of the game. Banjo kazooie isn't a long, Banjo tooie on the other hand is but its a slog.

Speaking of Tooie, i think i'll take a break from that one. It is somewhat of a culture shock to see how different that game is. Ive just passed world 2 and while it is a well made game, i just dont dig the design at all
I'm curious, what's drastically different about the structure?

Lol, I am actually playing the N64 version. I don't own a Xbox One. Everything I've been reading about Banjo and Conker has made me want to play them. I already own Conker. I ordered Banjo last week from Amazon.

So that's been changed? I was wondering why everyone was complaining about Conker being frustrating and letting Banjo off the hook. That would turn Banjo Kazooie into a completely different game if you didn't have to recollect the notes.

This is why it's such a big decision for me whether I want to leave with 6 missing notes or not. If I leave and it turns out I actually need them, I'll have to get all of them over again.

Camera is inverted for me.

Is the camera different from the N64 game? For me, it controls just like Banjo and Mario, but better since it's smooth. You can press one camera button to have it spin around you.

Anybody els notice the controller delay in original battletoads? Makin lvl 11 nearly impossible. Had to give up on the joystick and commit to double handing the d-pad

Ah, yeah, they changed them to permanent collectables in the XBLA release, not sure if I like the reduced challenge or not but it's less to worry about.

Tooie is more of an adventure game than a platformer.

Yup Tooie feels like a bunch of hub worlds with mini game events spaced into each corner. A lot of the time is spent walking from point A to point B.

Kazooie was a mix of mini game and Mario platforming. Tooie is largely mini game focused and walking around big boring spaces.

Thinking it's because I've been distracted by MGS coming up, but I haven't felt compelled to play this collection AT ALL since I bought it.

Maybe it's because I ain't crazy about all the N64 games, maybe It's because I'm not that much of a Rare fan to begin with?

I just know I bought this collection on principle alone and don't even feel like touching it :(

Only games I'd considering playing are:

Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Kameo
Perfect Dark/PDZ

...and that's it. Banjo doesn't appeal to me at all (don't care for it's aesthetics) on the older games are merely mild curiosities for me at this point.

I beat Grabbed by the Ghoulies with all 100 bonus books, but the achievement for collecting them all didn't pop up. I got the stamp for it, but in the achievement app it says "Done... Unlocking".

Afterwards I platinumed the first 20 challenges, and I got the achievement for that, so I'm worried that this achievement will never unlock.

Yeah, I've got a stuck achievement from Solar Jetman, which has been that way for a good few days now. I'm hoping that I'll not be waiting *too* long for it to unlock - and the same for yours!

I beat challenge 21 in Grabbed by the Ghoulies! Took me just over 3 hours to do. How the hell did they expect kids to beat that? For those of you who don;t know challenge 21 has you play through the entire game again with only 10 health in every room and no power-ups are available.

Thankfully the achievement that didn't pop Yesterday popped while I was doing the challenge.

All I have to say is man, Banjo is a masterpiece. You know how? It still holds up today.

For me, it is hard to play classic games if the graphics are bad, even when I played these games at the time. I am not a graphics whore, but there needs to be a balance. But nope, not for Banjo. The graphics does not bother me at all. It's just a great game and really enjoyable to play. It has stood the test of time. And really, a lot of Rare games are like this, even their old NES games. I am having a blast with Rare Replay. People should support it!

Pretty similar situation here, bough the game at launch and since then I was out of town for about half the time, that coupled with my inability to start series of games knowing won't be able to play them back to back has put this on the back burner (due to MGS5 and a few other things). I have played some of the N64 titles as a kid for 5 or 10 minutes here or there but not most of the other games.

Still see the collection as great value and definitely want to play the following at the very least, even if it's not right away.

Perfect Dark games
Banjo series (will try N&B and see if I like it)
Conker
Viva Pinata TiP
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Kameo

Such a bummer Diddy Kong Racing isnt on this.

I was reading up on the development and it was originally a follow up of sorts to rc pro am. It would still have the animal characters and setting of Diddy Kong Racing ended up with, but Diddy Kong wasn't going to be in it. It was mainly Timber (the tiger) and they did set it on his island after all, but Miyamoto suggested they add Diddy Kong to it, and all because of that it now stops it from being in this collection even though Banjo and Conker are there as well. :(

Actually, I don't think Miyamoto really made them put Diddy Kong in the game. I've read that Nintendo gave Rare a choice of putting either Donkey or Diddy. Rare went with Diddy because he was their own creation since Donkey was created by Nintendo themselves.

Not sure why Nintendo felt the need to turn it into a DK related game. Maybe because it would sell better? I've read that the DKR team was actually very upset about it at first, but then eventually got over it.

I've just about managed to 100% all of the pre-N64 games now - all milestones and snapshots done - except for 'Beyond the Impossible' on account of the accuracy of that achievement's name. I think I'm going to have to pass on the 'Precious Seconds' snapshot playlist as well given the inclusion of Turbo Tunnel Infinite, but I've got enough out of these (16!) games from the milestones and standalone snapshots.

Time to check out Killer Instinct... but I'm particularly looking forward to getting to a replay of Banjo Tooie soon now!

If I recall correctly, Nintendo made Rare put in Diddy Kong because Banjo Kazooie suffered a year long delay, and Nintendo still wanted a major game for the holiday season or something like that.

Anyways, I've been playing Rare Replay every day since I got it, what a great collection!

Button mashing is an f'ing joke in Pro Am 2. Shit is impossible to beat

The snapshot? Yeah, that one was a pain - you need to find a 'cheat' method that works for you. For some, it's just a matter of setting the controller down and using fingers from each hand; in my case, what worked was to put a piece of fabric (even from your shirt!) across the A and B buttons, then rub your thumb rapidly from side to side across them. The fabric means that you can move smoothly between the two buttons with minimal delay. If you don't get it after a few tries, wait a little to clear any lactic acid that may have built up before trying again.

About to have to look at a walkthrough for Banjo.

For what part? Refusing to look at walkthrough bit me in the ass in the few days ago. I looked over and over in the desert stage and tried to do everything I can think of to get the last jiggy and the few remaining notes. I tried everything I could do with the bullseye. Turns out I did the stages out of order and didn't have something I needed. That pissed me off. Don't let me go to the next stage out of order if I need a weapon from the previous stage to get all the notes. That meant I had to get all 97 notes over again.

Conker > Banjo

It's not the games fault you missed the incredibly obvious passage that led to the portrait of the fifth level. Why else would those boots be in that room?

The 360 version (and by extension Rare Replay) saves your notes as you get them so you don;t have to recollect them all if you die or leave a level.

Played PDZ MP for the first time tonight. Holy fuck. The menus make it seem like it's a 20 year old title. Cannot believe that came out last gen.
