Isn't the reveal supposed to be due in the next week or so? Always happens in the first week of May for CoD reveals..

You know what would be great? a cod that travels through time, ww1, ww2, Vietnam, modern, future, far future etc. could build an interesting campaign out of it and multiplayer, like switching maps, say a ww2 map and than next one would be future and some maps could mix futuristic weapons with a ww1 setting.

Just stop already! Go back to WW2 and show us how its done on the next gen hardware. Then I will be happy to play a COD game again. But yet another futuristic shooter? No thanks.
People were crying about how tired of ww2 they were. Now you want it back?

So you want a new Timesplitters then? Me too!

That's why devs can't win. Repeat something and tons of people demand change, change something and people want to go back to the same old again.

In their defense: they've never done far future before, with full on space battles and the like.

Well yea, so burnt on future wall running exo skeleton super power having soldiers, its getting cheesy now. I think games like overwatch and battle borne will scratch the hero/character itch far better than COD could ever dream of, so let's go back to guns, grenades and some non op perks...and maps that aren't all the same 3 lane snoozefest

Its been almost 10 years since a proper AAA WWII game. We need one that is built with the scale and detail possible on the current consoles. Look at Star Wars: Battlefront and imagine that as a real WWII game (instead of being WWII inspired).

World War II would also promote traditional boots on the ground gameplay, I know a lot of people are tired of the extra-spastic nature of the wall running and boosting gameplay.

I've had enough boots on the ground gameplay for a lifetime in my 25+ years of gaming. The more mobility the merrier I say.

That said, I doubt IW has a great game in them. All the talent seems to be at Respawn now, as proven by the excellent Titanfall. So I guess I'm more interested in TF2.

They should be separate games then. A spastic wall-running nonsense title and a classic boots on the ground title. I don't know why every COD ever year now has to be the same fucking thing. For a while they were doing good with MW1, WaW, MW2, BO1. Then it started to be pretty much the same damn thing every year.

Have they? I mean I can count exactly 1 CoD game will wall running stuff and specialists. Good or bad, Black Ops 3 is very different from any other CoD game, even the first 2 Black Ops games.

It would still make CoD 2016 the third furturistic shooter in a row.

I get that enhanced movement is exciting for some but for those of us who play a lot of shooters, its oversaturated right now. And its not what I go to Call of Duty for. Enhanced movement is nothing new or progressive, we had it back in the 90s with Tribes and contemporaries like Counterstrike were just as compelling, if not more.

I didn't evel like Black Ops 3. Just refuting the comment that the last few CoDs have been the same. Compared to CoD4, MW2, Bo1 and MW3, Black Ops 3 is the biggest change the series has had in years.

To be fair, we don't know how this one plays as it's setting allows the devs to move far beyond what was possible in AW and BO3. It probably won't be boots on the ground though.

I don't want to come off as argumentative but, aesthetically, it is true that the series has been set in the future since Black Ops II. The series was at its most popular with the modern setting, so naturally that's what a lot of us want to go back to.

Also, much of Black Ops III was directly lifted from Black Ops II. That's another story but I was expecting a lot more from Treyarch in three years.

I still can't believe that there isn't any modern WW2 shooter out there. The last WW2 shooter stems from early in the PS3/X360 generation.

The new Sniper Elite. Different kind of shooter, but still.

What if the new COD was a Independence Day: Resurgence tie-in!?

We need to switch to WWII so everyone can complain they want the future back.

Which is why we need variety. Activision is very capable to deliver a WWII CoD one year and a futuristic CoD the next. Best compromise for gamers honestly. Either way...Activison makes a lot of money lol.

Enemy Front came out in the past few years I think. Not very good, though.

If there is a wish for WW2 amongst the mainstream then Activision will move on it. But I imagine that the mainstream wants what they're getting now.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
It will take place in a WW2 setting... but in a parallel universe, with boost jumping and plasma rifles.

No one wants WWII anymore. It would be seen as a step backwards.

The issue is that for die-hard CoD fans, there's value in consistency. Removing things like wallrunning & double jumps creates an incentive for players to just stick with the earlier games in the series.

Clearly the answer is a CoD title centered around either time travel, or hologram 'war training' - so they can create historical campaigns, with the narrative excuse to have jetpacks and shit in multiplayer.

No they won't, iw practically had to beg for the original modern warfare to get made.

With 3 decks, there's no need for each to be making a future cod.

Call of Duty was a different thing before Modern Warfare.

It's one of the biggest things Activision has going, so they're going to cultivate it and they probably do a ton of market research now.

If course of a studio brings a good pitch for a way to take their specific branch of CoD, I doubt Activision wouldn't hear them out, and then see what the focus groups say afterwards.

Three studios all working on their own sub-series inside of an overarching series that's supposed to be about various different theaters of warfare and all of them are "hoppy-jumpy-laser blasty" future settings.
Which Titanfall did a hundred times better anyways so why bother...
At this stage, I really don't care if one of the studios goes to WW1, WW2, the Civil War or fuck, even some medieval shit, just somebody, for the love of God, enough with the science fiction future shit for a bit, yeah?

I agree, but in all fairness, full blown space combat is something they haven't done. I'm assuming we're talking laser weapons all the way.

Thankfully there's always Battlefield to offer an alternative, especially if they're going with WWI this year. Talk about polar opposites.

There was a laser gun in BO2... But yeah space isn't something they've done.

They have 3 teams now, I don't know why they don't just have IW do WW1, with Sledgehammer doing futuristic, and let Treyarch to modern. Best of all worlds instead of having futuristic every year, when a lot of people don't even like futuristic to start with.
