Starfox |OT| Copilot.....Do a Barrel roll!

Man the gameplay loop in this game is addictive and I mean Armored Core VI level addiction.

Mission structure can be soooooo good if it's done well.

Indeed!

Now they just need to put in more sexy furry ladies star fox characters lol

That's why it's so easy to play this game over and over again. I did dozens if not 100+ runs back when SF64 released. I did the same with the original SNES StarFox too. None of the other games have compared at all.

No one dies, they leave the battlefield.

If anything, I'd like to see some resentment toward Peppy. Like, my father died so you could live? Fuck you rabbit.

At the end of the day, Fox and Falco are the two predators on StarFox.
What is this, Zootopia 3? 😂

I finally got all the medals on Normal mode and all alternative routes. Going to take a break from the game and work on some other stuff but I'll keep it installed so I can work on challenge mode and expert difficulty when I need a quick fix.

Maybe this is just a Mandela Effect thing but does anyone else remember the fake out from the Meteo Crusher boss being different in earlier games? I swear he said something along the lines of "I admit defeat…. IF THIS DOESNT WORK!" Instead I see that Falco interrupts and says essentially "Don't trust him" and the boss basically agrees with Falco. Apparently Falco had always interrupted him? It doesn't feel right.
Funny you say this, I thought the same thing. Apparently its dependent on a certain factor when you get there. I think if you take too long to beat him is when it triggers but I cant remember. All I know is I absolutely love the line.

I like it better the way he shouts "IF THIS DOESNT WORK!" Kinda adds dramatic tension. Also Falco breaking in to state the obvious just kinda makes the set up fall flat imo. I think I'm just going to take the boss more slowly then whenever I get to him in further playthroughs.

Dude I love this game so much. Even the multiplayer is fun, in a Halo 1 LAN sort of way. Velan really knocked it out of the park. I hope we see more from then on Nintendo's behalf.

I never got the impression from the original that 'Star Fox' was a band of mercs just mostly doing it for money, more that they were a military special forces type thing. Am I wrong on that?
I thought the same but then I realized, why would the Corneria military ask Star Fox for help if they were regular military? They'd just tell them to fight and stfu.

Me too, I love that line. That said it wouldnt surprise me if the remake cut it.

I'm enjoying it. Def think there's a bit of wierdness with the aiming, I'm pretty sure I'm doing good. Not sure I wanna go mouse controls.

I like the alt routes scenarios, it forces you to replay the game but it's fun and the levels aren't very long. It's almost like a rogue-lite in that sense.

For the next game, I think they should allow you to upgrade in between.Make it a full rogue-lite and have you comd back stronger and stronger.

Completed most of Expert challenge mode objectives of Venom 2 and the 4 vs 4 final dogfight again only with the weakest single laser. The expert mode dogfight was pretty tough, but managed to clear the dogfight without any wing damage and managed to take down 1 Star wolf member within the first 35 seconds yay!

Recorded the play:

Amazing. I cant aim that well. What do you recommend?

Just finished my first play through last night. I loved it. I'm glad they kept the bright colors of the original N64, Great graphics too. I wish it had multiplayer like on N64, but I've not had time to play an online match and not sure about if I would like to co-op with one flying and the other shooting - seems odd to me.

Thanks man!

Try to aim at where the bandit/target will be, rather than where it is (lead pursuit). Try to guess on where the bandit will move and aim there. And also use the break often to give you more time to aim (lag pursuit).
Eventhough Star Fox is a flight arcade game and not a combat flight sim, the game has a dogfight shooting mechanic that forces you to actually use lead pursuit maneuvers like in real air to air combat (an aerial maneuver where a pilot points their aircraft's nose in front of an enemy's flight path to score a hit with guns. This technique effectively "cuts the corner" to close the distance quickly and aligns the plane's weapons to intercept the target where it will be, rather than where it is) and lag pursuit maneuvers (to prevent overshooting the target, slow down the closure rate, and maintain a constant energy-saving distance). Also Wolf and his gang actually pulled high-g barrell roll maneuvers correctly like in real air to air combat to force an overshoot by the shooter on their six.

Arwing is supposed to be a really advance fighter and yet its HUD and aiming reticule is rather primitive. In a real F/A - 18 Hornet for example when you have locked a bandit the hud will show a dot that will move around in accordance to the target's speed and direction and thus you aim your gun sight there insteadof at the target to score a hit with guns. The targeting computer of the Hornet will also calculate bullet drop. It shows exactly where the bullets will go in the sky. Though of course even with the circle it's still difficult to score a hit with guns since the bandit will do evasive maneuvers and try to force you to miss/overshoot.

guns only dogfights I did years back in DCS that I recorded:

Got my nephews hooked on this game now hahaha. Downside is I'll be the one buying them a copy of lending mine to them a lot. They are starting to check out starfox games as well and are enjoying them. Please hope this does good enough for a new game

Finally beat my first run through last night.

They did an absolutely stellar job on this remake. It's got me very excited for the Ocarina of Time remake later this year. I know it's a different team, but I'm liking the vision of what these can be.

The graphics, HDR implementation, voiceovers, and soundtrack are excellent.

And I'm sure this engine will be used for a new Star Fox game within the next 2-3 years.

Is it me or there's a bug in Area 6? I had at least 10 fights with the area boss and most of the times damage bar didn't appear on screen...
Anyone had similar problem?

Finished my first route yesterday (across two sittings) and man... Velan knocked it out of the park with this remake. The original is probably my most played game of the N64. Used to play that thing over and over again, so much so that I knew all the enemy patterns and bosses were gone before they could spout all their lines.

That said, I'm 39 now and very very rusty lol but so much of it is still familiar to me. The voice acting is a bit iffy sometimes but otherwise the new cinematics, visuals and soundtrack really knock it out of the park. Had that melancholic feeling while the credits rolled and I really hope they do a sequel. Can't wait to dive back in again and start working on the challenges as well. Good shit!

I had an audio bug where the audio cut out for a couple seconds and lines said nothing but that's the only one I've noticed so far.

Was Slippy downed? Slippy is the one who makes the boss health bar visible in each level so if he is downed it doesn't appear.
So not only does he partake in the missions as a pilot and provides intel during said missions but also develops new weapons and technology pretty much non-stop and also has to hack the enemies' systems in-between missions to acquire more info ahead of time. Man, that kid does it all no?

They should've called this Star Toad!

I remember getting out of the SF64 official player's guide that Fox was eager to pay off the loan on the Great Fox. Pepper also waited until the enemy was at his doorstep before contacting them. They're mercs.
