Swordman attacks people at school in Sweden

I live pretty close to Trollhättan, about 50 km away from it.

This is fucking depressing, who would do something like this to small kids.

Shock. It's been said, but at least it wasn't a gun.

Looks like a Nazi helmet...

latest

Yep. Probably a radical right winger like a skin head or something. (The helm in the pic might be from WW1, but they were the same helmets used in both conflicts) Funny enough, I just mentioned this helmet in the other thread. What are the odds?

Attacks like this wouldn't happen if everyone in Sweden were allowed to carry a sword...

OK. That's awful, but I kinda' had to. I can actually envision a couple of right wing media personalities in the states saying as much.

According to the translated story next below it:

Unless he painted his weapons before going in then it looks like he took the time to pose for a photo between stabbings.

I don't think "bloody" in this context means the blade had actual blood on it, I'm guessing it's the British use for "bloody", kinda like "he had a fucking knife".

Guys in the heat of the moment, nobody has time to disect the individual characteristics of the helmet and the mask. For someone that is panicked, stressed, and not looking closely, it resembles a Darth Vader mask. That doesn't need to be ran into the ground being corrected.

Edit: I've seen people mention a starwars mask, I guess they're talking about a Darth Vader one? Looks like a cut up airsoft or paintball mask, or just some flimsy plastic.
He played music during it?

Out of personal curiousity I wonder what exactly he played.

Prayers go out to the injured, the fallen, and their families

So, according to Aftonbladet, 3 people are dead, a male teacher, and an 11 year old boy and the perpetrator, and another 2 people are injured and at the hospital (a teacher, and an 15 year old boy), which of the teacher is in critical condition.

... why? You do know that Rammstein is left oriented?

If you want some cliche nazi band, take Lanzer.

Why everything must be political? Damn...

It's just because of his supposed Facebook and Youtube account, he seems to be a big fan of the band.
If I was about to die, I would like to hear what I like too.

Rammstein is one of the bands he Likes on his Facebook profile. He was also into Marilyn Manson, static-x and some other.
I see. Sorry, I am a bit thin skinned since people for some reason like to bring up Rammstein in the context of right wing actions.

He played weird music and didn't say a word. The music was horrible, like Halloween-type music.

Her friends thought the man was joking around, and wanted to take photos with him. Sara took the photograph.

One of the teachers came out and asked the masked man what he was doing.

"You are scaring the children, you can leave", the teacher said according to Sara.

- He just nodded, then he stabbed the teacher with the knife in his right side. The last thing I heard him say was "call an ambulance", Sara recounts.

She and her friends ran out from the school. The man chased after them but they managed to get away [...]
Sounds like he chose his targets pretty randomly. Psychosis?

People completely misappropriating music is a pretty common thing. Like Ronald Reagan using Springsteen's Born In the USA for his re-election campaign.

I can't fathom how traumatic it must have been for the kids, this scene is straight out of an horror film.

Best wishes to these kids, hope they pull through.

The police have said it could be related to racism, but it's really too early to say.

edit: "The Swedish Schools Inspectorate found that the school is located in a segregated area and has many newly arrived students. The school has not succeeded in giving many students the support they need in their school acitivites."

Personally, I think it's probably a mix of racism and your typical angry young male (edit: added) edgelord cynic.

It's scary that me and my dad was the killer's teacher, he attended a cnc education for like 10 months and just finished 2 months ago.
He was the silent type, always wore military pants and boots.
What's scary is that we both said he was a "Breivik", that he could snap anytime, and he actually did.

The blurred guys on the picture seem white (too difficult to tell though), Sara sounds white (doesn't have to be of course), and he chased after those too. Teachers have a bigger chance of being white too (but don't have to be). It's obvious I'm speculating wildly here (sorry if that's not allowed), but it feels like he would've approached it differently if it was purely racially motivated. Though he does seem to fit the angry white boy demographic.

Whoa, are you serious? How do you know he's the one? They didn't release a name yet, did they?

If swords had been banned he would have just gotten one off the black market anyway.
If only they had swords to protect themselves with, ect ect.

All that aside, I wonder what his motive was? or why a sword of all things.

When I saw the thread title, I came in looking for this reply. Did not disappoint.

The news talked about him and showed his Facebook pic but censored, the police went to his home, it's pretty known here that it's him, it's a small city.

No way it was just about racism though, we have a whole class of Syrians and Eritreans in the classroom next to the one he was in, there must have been something more. We suspect he had a really hard childhood, he was very proper, he didn't dare to laugh and walked with his arms straight down, didn't move a muscle, it was just really weird. :s

It's kind of weird because I'm sure a lot of teachers can see a kid that could potentially be a problem like this but what options do they have? I feel like you can't just go to someone and be like I have a gut feeling this kid is gonna try and murder people. At least if you haven't seen real evidence.

Exactly, we had another who just finished his education, laughed for himself while not doing or watching anything, watched comic porn and wears military clothes, it just feels eerie, but like you said, what can we do. :/

There was a sentencing today of a guy who murdered three people in a nearby city, and guess what, he was also my student, wtf is going on? :s

I don't understand how a guy like that could hang out around an elementary school and no one called the police. Story is bizarre.

not everybody immediately suspects a person just because they have unusual apparel. People wear all kinds of stuff nowadays. Even if I saw a guy walk into my school with a sword in his hand I wouldn't give it much thought (mostly because I carry my sword around the school all the time)

I don't think it says that he hung around the place before the deed, though? He just went in afaik. And the police apparently arrived quickly when called.

But on that topic...
Teachers have informed the The Swedish Schools Inspectorate that the school environment felt unsafe, as the building housed several facilities open the the public; a library, café and some others. So there have been some political fractions in the municipality about if the café should be allowed to be open during school hours and such.

Wait what, do you do fencing or something?

The school is located in one of the most dangerous and criminal parts of Sweden, I'm not justifying it, I just mean that they're probably used to weird shit going on.

I also heard that school has an open cafeteria or something for everyone, don't quote me on that though.

Your school is not a sword free zone?
Not even concealed carry?

There is a joke there that I do not dare to make.

But on the serious side, I am sure that there are a lot of kids with social/functional problems, and the only thing you can do is to do what you are already doing: Trying to teach them / help them. Some may broke in the future and bad things will happen, but clearly not all of them will broke. It is dangerous to label them. Do your best and hope for the best.

I honesty expect things like this from someone who finds family guy funny. Although maybe it would be better for me to imply it somehow instead of simply stating it.

Iaido, people call me ninja :)

Honestly, nobody cares, if I don't hurt anyone, I even practice in the hallways and on the courtyard and mostly people don't care at all.
I bet you get compliments on your fedora and anime-waifu body pillow as well.

Fuck. You never imagine that this kind of messed up shit could happen on home turf.

Crazy people can be found in every country. Don't get a false sense of security just because the crime rate is low in your country. Even though there might be just a few crimes per year in your country, there is always that off chance that you might be one of the victims. We must always be careful.
