I switched to an alt account to ditch my embarrassing tag so I could be an embarrassing Naughty Dog fanboy in peace. Ask me anything!
Honestly I liked Matt Damon more than Leo. He's better at portraying emotion and his fit of rage in the buggy was more sincere than an entire movie of Leo moaning, breathing heavily, showing us his disgusting spit bubbles and showcasing a bad accent for the millionth time.

As Mike and Jay said, Lep has wool over everyone's eyes for some reason that he's a really good dramatic actor.

Matt Damon does not belong in the best actors nominees imo. If anyone deserves to win over Leo this year it is Fassbender. This year's performances were all weak.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
LOL Leo's victory speech will be glorious. It will be sad that all the internet meme will need to stop.

I don't think Leo's should get it this year. The Revenant may have been a good performance but it certainly wasn't his best. I think he's a good actor but no one should get Oscars just out of pity or because they didn't get them for preceding years.

That said, if he does win, congratulations and maybe we can put this whole silly petty Oscar business behind us and just have Leo giving a good performance because the movie requires it, not his ego for the accolades.

Real talk: Ave Maria winning its category would be the worst pick of any category. That film is awful and I'm shocked no one who nominated it looked past the surface of it being tangentially about Israeli/Palestinian relations to realize that it's a 15 minute comedic short that is never once funny. Pandering definitely carried that much further than it deserved to.

So, no cable here. How streamable is this? I'm getting conflicting reports. One say that ABC will stream it, in which case I can watch it, but others are saying it's only streamable in less than a dozen cities? Is that true. If so, what the fuck is that all about? Why only allow online streaming in a few places?

I don't either, but do you have a OTA antenna?

I'm not sure how reliable it is though. There are quite a few restrictions with it.

Are we allowed to post stream links for people that are asking?

I'm not sure what the actual forum policy is on links to those kinds of streams, but it might make sense to not loudly broadcast it just in case ABC or AMPAS is trying to stamp them out.

I thought Brie Larson was just okay in Room. Even though it won't happen, I wish they would give the award to Saoirse Ronan. She gave a much more nuanced performance, and it was one of the first times she's played a grown woman in a film.

Still need to see

Brooklyn
Carol
Room
Bridge of Spies
The Martian
The Danish Girl
Trumbo
Joy
Straight Outta Compton
Anomalisa
The Look of Silence
Amy
Son of Saul
Mustang

Revenant is totally cleaning up.

I'm kinda interested to see just how large Iñárritu's ego gets after this night.

Well if you didn't know already The Revenant was just a survival and hard shoot so of course it's going to win...lol

I can't bring myself to watch bridge of spies, Brooklyn or The room. I usually make an effort to watch all the nominees but I just couldn't do it.

The Room is a hilarious Tommy Wiseau film. Room is what you're looking for.

All three films are good but sentimental. Bridge of Spies and Brooklyn are old-fashioned.

Both BoS and Brooklyn are better directed than Room.

Bridge of spies is surprisingly good. Brooklyn is for Film majors. Haven't watched the room.

Still SMH that Martian made to the oscars.

So I just glanced at the Best Actor category again. You gotta understand I like Leo, but I don't really think he's as amazing as people say in The Revenant. But compared to other actors up for the award...well, we didn't really have a great year for Best Actor performances this year, huh? Compared to Best Actress, which seems like a huge competition with Larson and Vikander and Ronan, et al. And Best Supporting which has got some huge competition, too.

Anyway, Leo is going to run away with it now that I'm really looking at the other nominees. I guess Fass could spoil but I really don't see that happening.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. I think Spotlight is going to take the Best Pic. It has got that Oscar vibe already, and it's a really good film.

Mark Rylance is seriously overrated for his work in Bridge of Spies. He's good, but he just doesn't have enough scenes of any import to warrant the award.

I can see Mad Max eating REAL good tonight.

I rewatched it again last weekend after not seeing it since the summer and it really didn't hit me how much attention to detail and just overall design had to go into the whole production.

Im not the type to get heavily behind hoping this or that wins but I would love to see Fury Road get some love.
