can I play my games at 30 and 60 fps without screen tearing yet?
One SKU? Thank you.
OT but who is this dude?
I'd say so. PS3 didn't sell until it got down around $300. But that's saying that it's even $400 which I doubt.
Where are you getting this price from?
It means if they make a chip with 18 CUs you can get chips with bad CUs and you would have to throw them away if 18 is the target. If you target 14 but make 18 you can have 4 bad units and the chip is still viable. If all 18 are good then 4 will be deactivated or just not utilized.
I'm not saying this is what they mean with that statement, but it's my guess.
I hope it's good because I do want a console but I definitely don't want the WiiU and I don't think I want MS console.
LOL, I remember when everyone here was convinced the Vita would cost $400 when the specs were unveiled.
This will be a $350 launch. Bank on it.
Sony is ready to regain the number 1 spot. Well done!

They're just listing input peripherals.
There's no way you'll find a move, a ds4, and a new pseye in the box.
They're not that stupid.
I'm assuming the camera and move controller are optional.

how come the ps3 didn't get that #1
Thank you for the verification.
Still, the texture unit count (deficit) is rustling numerous jimmies, including mine.
They are counting the 18 CUs for 1.86 Tflops, but 4 may be placed between the GPU and the CPU.
The 'hardware balanced for 14' CUs thing sounds vague, but I do not think it is a reference to disabled CUs for yields.
It's probably something to do with a hardware level optimisation of task balancing for graphics vs gpgpu...maybe? Which isn't to say you couldn't massage your resources in one or other direction, but they might have some low level optimal balance in there.

You can do it now with the current consoles...
Yeah, if the price is around that I think it is. It'll be worth it, but it'll be a lot money.
Durango: Chiaotzu
That is total system ram though.
In these consoles they are using one set of RAM to account for graphics memory and general system memory.
To compare to a PC, you probably have 8 GB of DDR3 system RAM, some of which is used by the OS. And 2 GB of GDDR5 on your GPU for graphics memory.
Latency on VRAM is a considerable factor in a good GPU, and Durango seems to have a fairly slow latency, Orbis seems to be faster.

Thanks for the explanation. Really appreciate it.
no way is a 14CU southern islands chip pushing 1.86 TFLOPS.
sorry @ 1080p
It's gonna happen.

Are people clinging to the $400 price tag, just so they can post negativly when this thing launches at a higher price?
$400 for these specs is far from "a lot of money". Ipads cost $400......
Resistance and Motorstorm were the flagship titles at launch.Price
Difficult to develop on
LTTP
Either the 14 CU is wrong or the 1.86 TFLOPS is wrong.
How about you guys don't even start with this?
Already happened.
Not so sure that's a wise assumption.
just further confirmation of the completely awful CPU going in these systems.
The new "Move" will be part of the new DS4, and the new PSEye will be built into the console and/or controller.
And yes, they are that smart.
