I wonder if it's as simple as the relationship with Yzerman for St. Louis. I guess it would sting if your GM names your badly injured teammate to the roster and not you, but to uproot completely? It makes me think that either the bad blood is a lot older than the Olympic snub, or that Tampa's chosen trajectory over the next couple of seasons is way out of sync with St. Louis' expectations.

I thought I read somewhere where somebody said that they were surprised he signed his current extension because he had always wanted to finish his career closer to home. Or something like that. I'll to find the link. Don't quote me on that.

Given what he's put up with, and now that they're finally becoming competitive, I personally doubt that's part of it.

The fact that we're playing the queens tonight is bittersweet, with Johnson out our defense is a wet piece of toilet paper held together by Jan Hejda and no one else. Hopefully Barrie has a good game.

Think of it this way... He's trying to jump start Bert with a few easy goals or assists for trade bait. Once the trade deadline hits, he's gone or back on the 4th line.

What a clusterfuck, and MSL backs Yzerman into a corner with 0 negotiating power.

Also said this about Kesler:

I can tell you this, the Canucks are aggressively listening on Kesler and Edler........If the Canucks can find a C that's 20-25 that is a 1B or 2A in a package for Kesler then they'll move him

All I hope for is that Gillis isn't trading for a playoff run because we aren't having one. Trading Edler for prospects/picks would be perfect. I'm a huge fan of Kesler and would hate to see him go unless a team overpays with picks/prospects, then I MIGHT be okay with it.

4 years older then Backstrom, and has had the shit kicked out of him with injuries, while Backstrom remains a PPG player and one of the best play makers in the league. If Kesler hadn't dealt with so much punishment in the past few seasons then it would be more in his favour. Just my opinion, I'm pretty averse to taking on older players with injury problems.

St. Louis always wanted to play for AV.

I wonder if the whole situation made Yzerman step down as Team Canada GM. Can't be easy with that conflict of interest.
