Glorious feels isn't it?

Seriously, I actually rewatched Clannad After Story 16 last night and I said damn.
The way Tomoya tries to get Nagisa to speak a little more because deep down he knows something's wrong and will probably get worse and is denying that with all his might. You could freaking see himself struggling to hold it together. Just damn ;_;. It gets sadder every time I see it.

Man, I hope you do another one of these challenges soon. I love the fact that more people are watching Clannad. Too bad I can't take you up on it though. I have like, three shows I'd like to see your impressions of.
At first I was like hey she is opening her eyes it's all gonna be ok and then... ;_;

I know. When I watched there was a point where I almost dropped the show because I couldn't deal with how it made me feel. I did have to take a break though.
No breaks here, I watched all these episodes in the past 48 hours, time to finish the journey today

Yup. The only time it's not totally unfit.

I was always puzzled by the way the ED began, glad they got a good use out of it, at least once.

To those who's been watching Log Horizon do you think it's better than Sword Art Online because that's how I feel.

It's like unanimously agreed upon by those with taste that Log Horizon is better than Sword Art Online. What it lacks in production quality it makes up in world building, characters and dialogue. And having an actually great semi-Gary Stu vs Kirito-kun. I mean the latter is only doing it for his country.

Buddy Complex 11

I'm starting to lose interest, but there's only a few episodes left anyways. Like 1 or 2 more. So I'll finish it. At least Aoba made it clear what his goal towards Hina is to his team. Also the albino kid is always angry and brain washed.

Is it a staple now that if there's a white haired military character he has to be cocky/douchy? Seems to be the recent trend

It's too much to hope for a good Gundam after this, isn't it?

When was the last good TV Gundam series? Actually legitimately good, just just moderately good like Gundam 00 S1.

I don't think we can look to the quality of the writing in GBF as an indication for the shape of future Gundam works. It's seems to have been envisioned as a fairly throwaway kids show that was meant to sell merch and as such it was never designed to be the classic, over-serious Gundam war/space opera. Because they were making a really silly kids show they got away with a ton of stuff that would probably get drummed out of a serious business show. G Gundam got away with being essentially a martial arts show as well because it was so clearly not a mainstream Gundam property.

When they sit down to come up with the next Gundam show it's going to be what people expect and what Sunrise think the want. It's going to be a serious space opera thing. It's going to have to tick all the traditional boxes e.g. it's going to need to appeal to otaku and fujoshi. They're going to need to sell BD's. Etc etc etc.

Well this Gundam is good BECAUSE it's not just another Gundam. So yeah.

Fair enough.

I remember when they first revealed Build Fighters it looked like the stupidest premise ever to me, and fast-forward to now and it seems like one of the most universally-loved Gundam series ever.

I might have to marathon it anyway later even if 100% of the references will fly over my head, since the core plot still stands on its own.

The fact that it's actually good for a change is what really sells it.

Excluding Unicorn it's been a long, long time since we had a really good Gundam series. I think Build Fighters really proves to me that Gundam is at its best when it discards as much of UC as it possibly can. I mean, I enjoy the UC Trilogy for what it is, but being trapped in UC is a huge part of what ruined AGE.

So at the risk of my neck, when does Princess Tutu get good? I mean it's not outstandingly bad, but considering all the "It's way different" and "What I expected what I got" that preceded me watching this I was expecting . . . something more?
Last two episodes.

...of a 26 episode series.

To those who's been watching Log Horizon do you think it's better than Sword Art Online because that's how I feel.

It has too little action and spends too much time on being a simulator than a fast paced true experience of an MMO. The times when it is on SAO->ALO level is when it focused on Tohya's crew. If it had more of that then it would rival SAO for me.

in the aaaaaaaaaaaaarms of an angel

*salutes the fallen

This shall be mine.

already in my cart!

Almost done with Another thanks to those awesome gifs posted. It really is a stupid show. Got one episode left and can't wait til I get off work to witness the conclusion.

Damn you watched it fast lol.

Pilot's Love will Save Us Song 11

LOVE. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE. LOVE IS THE POWER!

No seriously lol. At least next episode seems like it'll be chill, but I'm already expecting that
either Kal-El or Claire will die. This is a partner to Princess and the Pilot, it can't end with two people in love staying together

I'm not sure which Another death is more brutal, the
umbrella through the throat
or the
elevator faceplant
.

I still think the most disturbing is the
glasses girl getting hung. Though, I kind of have a pretty big aversion to death by hanging in the media for a variety of reasons.

K-On! 02

Love at first sight.

Yui finally got a guitar after getting an advance on her allowance, some hard work and haggling. Too bad she'd rather want to pose with it and uh... sleep with it than to play it...

Already gotten used to the English voices. I didn't notice when watching it the first time, but the animation looks a bit rough sometimes. Guess I just remember the much better looking movie more.

HappinessCharge RevisitCure 7

Guess looking back on this for a moment, because my mind clicked on something. While I mentioned this was one of the weaker episodes so far (and in terms of falling out with your teammate, it was also weak), it pretty much preys on both Megumi's and Hime's flaws.

Hime's inferiority complex certainly comes at works here, which is rather consistent, but I think Megumi's was more telling in a way. It reminds me that she was considered tactless, despite being compared to Mana and Nozomi (more like Erika in this case), and her rather condescending remarks during the MotW as well as wanting to help a little too much is called upon here. It's still staying consistent with everything we know of them, so I can't really complain about this. Will say though... I'm still pondering about their current chemistry, which still seems rather weird at the moment.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 1

I think this is officially Miyano Mamoru's best role ever
that isn't called Berg Katze.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 2

Well, the bass track is always the most fun part of every song. Band Bros P has taught me this.

Alas, Wooser, we scarcely knew ye.

Dat end card <3

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 3

Since Wooser died in the previous episode, I'm just going to assume the entire rest of the series is some kind of twisted Wooser-heaven. This is my headcanon, and it explains why today Wooser gets to be a king and then laze around doing fuck-all for the whole rest of the episode.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 4

Wooser for bestest MC. That's Master of Ceremonies, not Main Character. Though either way works.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 5

In which Wooser dreams of delicious legs. I like your style, Wooser.

Also, a carnivorous melon.

And oh look, a JoJo reference. There can never be too many JoJo references. Which is a good thing, because if it were possible for there to be too many JoJo references, I'm pretty sure it would have happened many years ago. And then again a few minutes later. And again. Not only would JoJo references have got old, JoJo references getting old would have got old. And then Jojo references getting old getting old would have got old. We're talking exponential here.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 6

Nice boat beach.

All the swimsuits are sukumizu? Good job, Wooser. Good job.

Wait why are you a robot.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 7

Wooser death count: 2. I think the "heaven" idea may have fallen apart at this point.

Unless! Wooser is secretly a huge masochist who enjoys being eaten by lions.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 8

Wasting precious free time? I know that feel, Wooserbro.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 9

Make your mind up, Wooser. Are you Okabe Rintarou or are you Wooser?

...or Gregor Samsa? Or a robot? Or meat?

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 10

Magical girls ktkr! For some reason Rin is giving me Cure Pine vibes.

And then SUDDENLY GUILTY CROWN

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 11

Wooser is better Milky Holmes series than Futari wa Milky Holmes.

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 12 END

Thank you, Wooser! You make the world go round! And by round I mean...Wooser-shaped!

Wooser no Sonohi-Gurashi 13 (OVA)

The game cartridge was Wooser. The controllers were Wooser. The hoodie was Wooser. The salt and pepper were Wooser. The pan was the same colour as Wooser and therefore probably Wooser. The Wooser was Wooser.

I think you might want to rename your Wooser Buster Beam if it doesn't work on Woosers though.

I'm pretty good at this anime watching thing. Not sure I can match Kirby or whatever, but the other week I caught up to Koroko's Basket in 2 and a half days. Watched Durarara Sat night/ rest a bit/ finish Sun afternoon because I read the news on the new season and wanted to watch something.

Thinking about it episode 18 of After Story is
a pretty good ending point of the series. Tomoya is able to get over the loss and started caring for his daughter, they had a nice crying scene, he realized his dad's care, it pretty much concludes everything about the characters. There is the stuff about the little girl and the robot which I'm still not sure how it would contribute to the story, but outside of that it feels like the main journey of Tomoya is pretty much done barring any major events in the next few episodes.

I am actually moving through my backlog and challenge animes pretty fast. I am hoping to be done by the end of the week.

And yes Clannad After Story feels are the best. It invoked such a strong emotion out of me that I didn't think I had anymore. And for that the Clannad series will always be one of my favorites.

I've read the Clannad VN. It has its moments, though the ending is bad enough to almost retroactively ruin everything. Fortunately it's easy enough to ignore it in the VN format.

In my opinion, the VN and movie don't hold a candle to the show but if you don't want to that's fine. I know 48ish episodes sounds daunting but it's good. I hope one day you can start it.

The problem is I don't have anything I want to inflict on you to justify my clannad time.

Come on dude. No need to be mean about it. ;)

I won't recommend an anime if I wasn't sure you were to get something out of it. That's why I didn't recommend Angel Beats to you because I know you. Even Branduil is giving the show a chance. And that contract is sealed... in blood and tears.

Clannad After Story 17

Better than Usagi Drop :p

Well, that was about as a perfect use of an ED as it can get.

Laying down the gauntlet huh? I like it.

It's in these episodes I get the most satisfaction. It's the moment when people realize that Clannad is no ordinary anime.

Clannad After Story 18

that entire scene in the flowers field ;_; it's raining a lot

Yup. This episode probably got to me the most. Tearing up a little just typing this out. The whole second half of that episode had me in tears. From the
flower field to Ushio crying in Tomoya's arms to Tomoya struggling to keep it together describing Nagisa to Ushio
.

Probably my favorite episode of anime ever.

"I don't have to hold it in any more? Sanae told me. The only times I can cry are either in the bathroom or in Daddy's arms."
God damn. orz

Yeah that scene had such powerful imagery.

This episode was the crowning moment of feels for me.

:,)

The final 5 episodes each have their moments. But this one is really good, yeah.

*nods*

It would have been perfect ending point... I really didn't like the actual ending but I am in minority so you could still love it. Few more eps.

I think it's basically confirmed split-cour now though

Hmmmm. Well a season off might do me good to regain interest. But if
at the end of the 20+ episodes it ends how it began
, I'll be so disappointed

D-Frag 11

This latest arc is ok at best. I guess this'll be the end of the show. I feel like the show would've ended better if they had finished it with a regular episode over this. The new characters just don't interest me. And it heavily lacks Takao.

Master of procrastination

Studying is hard work. Both for maths and chords. Good thing Ritsu is helpful to have around... or... maybe not. At least the actual test went fine even if certain things were forgotten.

So when I eventually have to get to Space Bros and Hajime No Ippo, which one should I watch first if I decide to just marathon one before doing the other one? I see both are very well loved in the anime community.

I am not mean! It's a simple case of "I can't think of something I want from you so I can't take that deal" and simply pushing it over the tomboys and mofus on my schedule is out of the question.

Gintama does the switch from comedy to serous back to comedy better than any anime IMO. I love how the serious arcs can be pretty violent. Also, the arcs get better after Benizakura.

Also, as for your complaint about Gintoki getting back up quickly...better get used to that :x He usually ends up being very injured in a lot of arcs but can get up in a short time. That said, he's the main character, so he has to get up, but you start to notice it once you watch more arcs. It's one of the few complaints I really have about the series.

Also, Takasugi gets a little more exposure with more arcs, but even up to the point the anime ended, his motivations are still rather sparse. It feels like there's a ton of set up for something big, but neither the show (nor the manga probably) have gotten to that point yet.

Gintama has a bunch of cool villains though, many of which are frequently introduced in new arcs, so eh.

Thanks for reading and the reply. Well, hopefully those moments aren't too distracting then. Yeah, it's been fun meeting more and more new characters added to the cast.

This then also works as a segue in some comments I have.

Gintama

Episode 64

I've found a lot of Gintama episodes to be entertaining or funny but this one focusing on Katsura and the news crew following him I think might be one of my favorites.

Just things like the conversation near the beginning going something like...

"We're here with K-san"
"It's not K-san. It's Katsura!"
"Ah, I think you might have accidentally revealed something K-tsura-san."
"It's Katsura!"
"If you say that then everyone will know your identity though."
"Oh right. Just put a beep over it then."
"Ok, Beep-san"
"It's not Beep-san. It's Katsura!"
"Ah, whatever. Let's just move on."
Haha.

I've heard other jokes before such as...
"Are you sure your friends are trading information on government secrets? It sounds more like they're just talking about celebrity gossip."
"We have our own code speak."

With the situation and context and everything though it was still pretty funny. Just a pretty funny and entertaining episode.

Episode 67

Watching the opening and seeing Gintoki crash caught my attention. They then use that as a lead in to the episode which was pretty neat. I think this has been mentioned before but was the delivery girl here really part of a fan contest? or was that just more Gintama 4th wall type meta humor?

That bit near the end with using regular delivery people to help transport bombs to embassy's, reminded me of the very first or second episode and how Gintoki gets involved with Katsura and the Shinsengumi guys via a similar situation. Another entertaining episode anyway.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic Episode 23 – The Djinn Warriors

tumblr_n2j9cyWrVb1s02dsmo6_500.gif

This episode was incredible. Kouen is litrally the character that Sinbad needed to be next season. The characters aligned with Kouen are all much more entertaining and epic in their abilities, all the Djinn equips are well designed, and Ill throw Alibaba's in to, and just the personality and everyone combined. Kouen is the true leader needed to unite the world and one that must succeed in this arc and beyond. Hes excellently written and wonderfully equipped. I thought Ren was the best one in the family, but Kouen is definitely right close behind him.

Volcano scene was the best. And the comedy through the episode was hilarious.

Well at least according to websites it's a 12 episode anime. I might be mistaken. I hope I'm mistaken but this doesn't really scream 20+ episode anime.

In other news, I want Monster in blu-ray but probably wont ever see it.
