The Amazing Spider-Man 2 PS4 gameplay

MUnited83

For you.
Not exactly a looker, but I'm interested. Seems they took a lot of inspiration from the Batman games( a lot more "janky" though).

The city looks dreadful, like it is in alpha, and the stealth/combat sections look like a poor man's Arkham. Swinging looks Spider-Man 2 levels of fun at least.

That's actually the best part of the whole thing. Even Random Young Dude is a better Spider-Man that the one I won't even mention. I want to watch the first movie, but everytime I remember who is Spider-Man I just can't.
He's better than baby face tobey and his unfunny spider man.

Asm was good for what it was. I legitimately feel sorry for beenox. Stuck making games incredibly fast with crappy, low budget engines. Give them a full 3 years, proper funding, and a good engine and they would be able to release a great spiderman game.

Swinging looks fun, but dammit I want my comic based game. I also dislike the use of free flow combat, I fits Batman but not every superhero game needs it. And while the web rush features is a neat idea, it just takes away way too much control and needs some serious re-tooling.

Some nice ideas overall but I think it being a movie tie-in really limits how great some of the stuff will be.

It honestly looks like a decent sequel (I played the first at launch), and they clearly listened to fan input. Combat still doesn't look as fluid as I want it to be though, which was probably my biggest issue with the first game.

I'll buy it when it gets cheap.

This game seems like a "be careful what you wish for" kinda game

Every improvement is directly what people have been asking for on this forum. But with limited time as a movie tie-in, something else had to suffer and thats the graphics.

I don't care about the graphics. As long as the game is fun, that's what matters. Looks decent enough and if the webswinging is good, then that's great.

Comparing this to SM2 when all that game really had going for it was the swinging and the post-game side missions is lol when this game looks to have the same shit and more

Comparing this to inFamous, a purely next-gen game for one console when this one is cross-gen and cross-platform, is fucking hilarious

It looks sterile, lifeless and bland all on its own. No comparisons needed.

As a Spider-Man fan, I'm intrigued, but they better improve those visuals and pop in. And why are the enemies lighting up? He's Spider-Man. Have his spidey sense go off instead of making enemies glow.

Yeah but that could also just be the lighting.
Spider-Man 2 looked lifeless at certain times (day, dusk) too, and the first Amazing Spider-Man game also had the ability to change the time of day (in which night and morning look the best).

given the hardware, spider-man 2 had a good amount of civilians on screen.

also, them pizza missions were fun as hell.

Maaaan they better have pizza missions. Also needs more variety in the crimes so Spidey can once again strut the streets with a purse or a balloon in hand.

The fact that the city is the way it is, all packed together and no space for anything makes it seem like there are no side things to do, simply because it all looks the same, and there's no damn space lol. It's probably true too, but for a single story playthrough; it could be fun.

I had realistic expectations for this (it has a lot against it, being multi-platform, cross-gen, and needing to come out by a movie's release date), and I'm still disappointed.

I don't blame Beenox, though. I'm sure they did what they could with the time and budget constraints they were given.

I actually really enjoyed the first amazing spiderman movie, despite the web slinging being fake, so i am really excited to see how much they improved on just that aspect alone.

If we can do double webs or hold a single web a.l.a spiderman 2 this will be an instant purchase. I would love for the city to be more varied though.

Definetely want to see more of the web slinging first , i enjoyed the little sub missions (batman takedowns e.t.c) , but most of my time was just flying around the city.

1) Camera is going wonky.. How difficult is to get a third person camera done right after ths many years of 3D games.

2) Why is Spiderman playing hide and seek ?. This look like they are trying to copy batman/rock steady games.

Eh, looks ok. Nothing too spectacular.

On a side note: I still play Spider-Man 3 the game from time to time. Love the free-roaming in that game.

I did notice the pop in, but I don't know I didn't care? Only thing I really care about is load times. If I can go anywhere in the city without it loading up too much them I'm fine.

I haven't bought a Spider-Man game in a long time (since PS2), but I dunno I guess I one of the few that liked what they saw.

LOL--Spidey has an in-game cell phone? Where's he keep it???

Haven't bought a Spidey game yet. Looks like I won't be getting this one either. "Hero or Menace" sounds too much like inFAMOUS (and every other black/white "morality" choice game out there).

Original Spider-Man game for the PS1, first mission:

Batman is the copy

ASM Spider-Man has a backpack, and he uses his phone in the movie all the time. He's a teenager.

I'm usually not the negative type but this game looked like a work in progress with the pop-ins and oblivious AI (hopefully because it's the first level or something), but judging by the release date it's probably not going to change much. Spidey swinging looks fun, though.

lol,

"You can notice right away that the web swing mechanic feels different"

No, what you notice right away is the massive popup this game has. Also, the city still looks dead.

This was my first thought, then the pop-in issue.
The rest looks great but the city looks bland and lifeless.

Sooooo I just watched this video on Spiderman 2. I think I might just spend my money on an original xbox and a copy of the game. Even at only swing level 3 Sp2's web-swinging and wall run is so fast. The combat looks way better than this arkham clone......all the control you had over the web, the sprint/boost button, and the air combat DAMN

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mRM6uZ9jJ0

That footage of Beenox's game honestly doesn't look too promising now. I'll wait for user impressions of the web-swinging before jumping in.

I'm gonna buy this game either way, but I just wanted to reiterate on that sprint button and charge jump, sprinting and jumping from rooftop to rooftop was so awesome.

Well damn, looks pretty awesome to me! :D Loved ASM1 and this looks to improve in a lot of ways. I'm holding out hope that the pop in and graphics get slight improvements between now and release, but I think it looks pretty great!

Had it pre-ordered and paid off on PS4 for a while now, can't wait! Just wish it came out on the same day the movie did, so I could pick it up after seeing it.

As improved as the web swinging looks, I feel it could all be in vain if Spidey doesn't gain actual momentum the way he did in SM2. I hope I'm wrong because they do mention they have a swing boost as well.

Looks great, I am 100% sold on this. But I also loved the hell out of Spider-Man 2 on Gamecube, I'm just here for the web swinging and open world.

Any word on an actual day/night cycle?

Web swinging with the city lights glimmering and that woooosh sound effect would be pretty glorious.

I had to laugh when I saw they were still doing the freeze-time-and-teleport thing. Y'know how they handled the problem of landing exactly where you wanted to land in Spider-Man 2? They made an awesome swinging system with perfect controls so you could land Spidey on a dime wherever you pleased.

The swinging here does look better than the last Amazing SM, at least. Although I'd argue that game didn't really have swinging at all; you just held a button and steered Spidey around while watching him do pre-canned swinging animations. Switching to something (hopefully) physics-based and having the webs stick to buildings is a big step in the right direction.

Graphics look like absolute shit and the gameplay has me interested. Not sure what i was expecting from a movie tie in.

I don't even care about the graphics (but they do look plain as hell and not interesting or detailed) but the gameplay looks so boring as fuck. There's no originality, takedowns look weak, fighting looks weak and unco-ordinated and the gimmicky aspects that are new are not the least bit interesting or intuitive or any fun.

Even that spider-man 2 video posted had a more interesting fighting and dodging stuff.

Spiderman 2 was such an awesome game. It's a shame that they could never improve on what made that game so awesome.
