Pic of the day. This may look like a side-scrolling action game, but it's actually one of the stages.

That spring... that definitely looks like a custom Stage Builder stage.

Damn still veteran reveal. interesting pic though. Perhaps its part of the palutena stage assuming it functions similar to the fire emblem stage in brawl.

Yeah, you're right. This spring looks different from the springs in Kid Icarus and exactly like the one from Stage Builder.

Would be great if this indeed was a custom stage.

There's two ways I see what this stage is.

Either the stage is from the new stage builder, and if so that'd be pretty exciting because the creation pieces in this shot look more interesting than Brawl's.

Or, it is part of a stage. I don't know if it would be KI:U (it's been a while since I played that), but no matter if it is or isn't, this is definitely part of a moving stage. Still stages like Battlefield show to have more work and detail put into them

Really doesn't seem like stage builder to me unless they've seriously upped their game when it comes to the backgrounds, lol. I mean, Brawl's stage builder had very limited static background choices.

Plus you'd think he wouldn't flat out call it "one of the stages." But that could just be Sakurai being Sakurai.

People are seeing elements from Kid Icarus Uprising.

Yet the Stage Builder spring's also there.

I don't know if that's what's happening in this specific pic, but now that the idea's been brought up, I really hope the Builder goes all out and lets us put actual Nintendo elements in it! Imagine if that's what's occurring here, and you're at freedom to put backgrounds inspired by Nintendo titles, alongside items and such...Mario's pipes, Yoshi Story’s clouds, DK’s barrel cannons....I want this so bad!

Don't actually believe this myself, but it'd be a golden troll move by Sakurai if he referred to this as "one of the stages"...as in, the pre-built ones that come in the Stage Builder section.

Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. Yabuki turned off voice chat in Mario Kart races. True artists of their time.
Not really seeing the KIU resemblance... My money is on custom stage builder. And an awesome one at that.

It's a custom stage, just look at the randomly placed spike ball.

I get the feeling that spike ball is falling into that pit like an obstacle though... Are we sure this might not be part of the adventure mode somehow? The springs were also in the SSE. I mean I understand that Sakurai's comment would pretty much contradict that but the comment itself is quite vague. You'd think he'd be excited to tell everyone the Stage Builder was returning.

I wonder what the stage hazard would be? I mean look at the size of that corridor in the background.

Edit: Maybe it's the Wii U version of Find Mii?

Maturity, bitches.
Final Destination is a flat stage because it is a shelf. That is the final destination for a toy when it goes from plaything to collectable item/to be repaired...

That or a bin.

Now that you brought it up, I want the desk from Smash 64 intro as an unlockable stage.

This whole discussion reminds me, I really hope you can play on custom stages online this time around with friends.

The spring was just a red herring.

Remember there were springs inside Palutenas temple in Uprising.

Also rumble Falls in Brawl had stage editor elements in it.

Wonder if it'll be a transitioning stage like the Castle Siege or a big Temple like stage with today's pic being underneath the other shots we've seen (with the spike ball rolling off the top?)

My money's on a Temple like stage.

Maybe you can use stages as a base onto which you can add stuff? Maybe that IS Palutena's Temple, but you can edit it, like how Sakurai put a spring and spike ball there.

It would certainly give variety.
