Until a few days ago i was saying it would never happen. Damn how good it is to be wrong in this.

Fatal Frame is just a great series, can't wait to play it again.

If the game gets localized and makes good use of the gamepad, I'd be willing to buy it (wish I was still partial to J-horror, though). As others have pointed out, a series like this one was born to be played on the Wii U. But there's one series for which the Wii U itself was born for, and sadly it's dead. How I wish Nintendo had the same interest in the Trauma games that they do with FF. :(

A bug free eshop version of FF4 would be nice too.

it doesn't even need to be remade in HD(IMO) as it already looks absolutly mindblowing on Wii( even in SD).

Not going to let myself get excited before i hear about a localization announcement for Europe.

me too, but considering that we got both fatal frame 2 and spirit camera, and that fatal frame 4 was almost ready to be printed and distributed and that probably just a last minute issue was the reason for its cancellation, I'd be positive about this!
in any case...OMG YES!!! one of the best fit for the gamepad and a great series in general

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.

Where did you hear that about FF4? Wouldn't that mean there's an official English localization somewhere?

Well, this would be absolutely incredible if it gets localized, but given we're dealing with Nintendo here I have no doubt something ludicrously stupid will happen.

I'll still hold faith in a North American release.

Wow, game, live-action movie, novel and manga all planned at the same time, they're going full transmedia effort on this.

Makes me think the game's been in development for a while (given how much longer game development is compared to the other formats).

I should expect a worldwide release to be standard, but knowing Nintendo/NamcoTecmo Koei/Japan... eh. Not getting my hopes up quite yet.

I still can't believe the Wii game never saw release in other territories. Nintendo's bullshit region locking prevented a lot of us from ever having the chance to play it. Hopefully they do release it in NA this time.

FF4 was promoted in Europe with AD printed pages on official Nintendo magazines and in-store promotional materials, and insiders I was able to reach back in the days (both Nintendo and another company) confirmed me that they were planning the launch of the game.
I don't think that Nintendo let the translation leak, tough.
FF2 and Spirit camera flawless PAL versions too give me hope for this new episode

This game + $59.99 WiiU bundle with unlimited girlfriends and then ill think about buying a WiiU

i do have one for the past 12 months so this is obviously just a joke - somebody said "unlimited girlfriends" one time and i found it pretty funny

Do you know if the Fatal Frame 4 translation was done by NoE like FF2R? Was it completed and voiced and everything?

Of the games inTecmo/Koei stable Fatal Frame and Kagero are made for the Wii U Gamepad.

Not pretty fond of the Wii U but is good to see things that make sense becoming reality.

Also add me to the rant list on how it was possible for NOA to not localize the 2 Fatal Frame games for the Wii, specially one most of the work for Frame 2 was mostly done.

That's a bit disingenuous, it definitely takes some messing about to get up and running. Even though most of the steps are well documented its not a foolproof process.
Way worth it though.
Thank you, people that worked on translating it.

Though the original method doesn't work anymore, does it? I think it used a loophole that was fixed with 4.something.

I would be very surprised if this ends up not getting localized. Nintendo needs every game they can get if they want to revive the Wii U.

I don't have specific info but considering the promo materials published and distributed I'd say that the localizationg was almost done. by whom, I am not sure.

Pity. It would be nice for them to do a HD eShop release for the Wii games. It probably wouldn't cost much, and it'd be nice to get Fatal Frame 4 without the game-breaking glitches.
(Or awful Wii controls.)

To be honest, I'm not sure what qualifies as "the original method." I did it about a year ago and it took looking through more than a few outdated pages and resorting to the wayback machine to find some now-deleted forum posts.

From what I remember, basic process was:
Fresh install of homebrew
Install an application that allowed for the patch to be loaded and used
Install the patch
Run game

Puyo Puyo Tennis?
Taiko Drum?

I may be getting these horribly wrong. I'm trying to remember MC threads.

That typo. I would TOTALLY play a Puyo Puyo Tennis, though. Have to hit the slimes into place with a tennis racket or something I don't know. It can work!

I enjoyed the first Fatal Frame and have been waiting forever for a sequel but I don't have a Wii U. :/

Would've loved to have seen this made from the ground up on PS4.

Yeah, seems they released a version of the patch loader for HBC. Originally you could run a program that didn't need homebrew installed since it all did it by itself in the background. There are still two different ones for Wii version 3.2-4 and 4.2, so it seems 4.2 was when Nintendo fixed it. With a HBC version, that isn't a problem anymore anyway.
But I just saw this has an update with some bug fixes now, I didn't know about that, I'll have to apply that later on.
