I'm considering buying a used PS4 (hopefully I can get one by next weekend). Should I also buy a Playstation Plus subscription? Where could I get it for the best price (in Europe)?
Yes, get PlayStation Plus. Plus codes are country based so you'll have to look in your own country.
no reason at all. i also buy psn cards from amazon.com to spend on the US PSN so i can get my games cheaper

It's fine. But you have to remember that you can't combine US dlc with EU game or EU dlc with US games.
Bought GTAV PSN version for PS3 over amazon.com when it had a sale and payed less than half of the price i would had to pay in germany. But when they release DLC for the PS3, i'm going to have to buy the US dlc for it to work.
Hmm. I guess it's only a problem if you buy EU PS4 games on disc then. And I could still buy the DLC for such a game from the EU store, right? Just won't get the PS+ discount or whatever.
What about playing online though?
yeah, you could buy the dlc from the EU store. and playing online you can do it on any account if you have at least one account on your PS4 with PlayStation Plus

I just ordered a PS4 and was wondering can I get plus now then add Mercenary Kings to my cart on the website and download it when it comes in? I thought I had heard you needed a PS4 console to get those games but I'm not sure if that was accurate or if it is still accurate.
Nope, just go through the website. I don't have a ps4 but I do it all the time.
I tell everyone with PS+ planning on getting a PS4 "next year" to do this. When I got my PS4, I had 5 PS+ games waiting for me. It was an awesome feeling.
I did the same thing with the vita.

Got a PS4 yesterday and it was nice having 3 free games to play off the bat due to PS+.

I keep the PSN+ free games page bookmarked, anyone know why earlier on that I was seeing Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PS3) listed in the IGC, with no option to buy. I have been slacking on the news of what's coming, is that showing up this month? (US account)

At a time, yes. Once you get a game you can play it forever while you have PS+.
Those of us who had PS+ since launch have 7 PS4 games.

Anyway, it's too late to get all the free games I've missed :/
By the way, I had to create a brand new account because Sony wouldn't let me change my old PSN ID to match my username on GAF. That's annoying as it would have been cool to have my old trophies show on my profile. Now my list is pretty much empty.

Get UK account. I think the prices are usually the best there.
Wouldn't I have issues with my billing address though? I have a french debit card and an american credit card with which to sign up, but I'm not sure how I could go about creating a UK account.
It's really surprising to hear UK being cheaper
