You get dedicated servers.

I think the problem nowadays is that people aren't happy unless what they are paying for something that gives instant gratification upon purchase. Let's face it, dedicated server support for all developers and free for all games you play(albeit after paying for gold) is insanely awesome for the gaming industry and should be a new standard going further.

More people will come to the realization that paying your PS+ and Xbox Live Gold subscription is more than just a nice sale every other week or maybe a free game a month, it's a investment into the future of the brand. Azure dedicated Xbox Live servers? That exists because we paid for online services for so long that Microsoft decided that it would be worth it to them to dedicate their own cloud services to gaming.

You can also thank Xbox Live Gold's premium subscription for Sony now deciding to use PS+ to invest into cloud services and most notably game streaming.

This is just a case of competition creating something great for all of us to enjoy.

Not for every game you don't. AFAIK, only Titanfall and Forza use Thunderhead. Everything else is either P2P or running publisher-operated dedicated servers.

All exclusives are using Azure servers, it only makes sense that not many 3rd party titles are not using them. They were only just announced for their use for about a year now and even less as being free. Most games nowadays have to be built from the ground up to take advantage of features like dedicated servers. It's going to be much more prevalent with Indie titles at first when it comes to 3rd party. I'm sure most large publishers were waiting to see how Azure would handle Titanfall before investing their multi-million dollar game with the service.

The point is that the support is there and it's free and it also includes cloud compute, setup and everything else for free.

Don't think so, dude. Currently it's just Forza 5 and Titanfall, at least according to Xbox.com.

FordGT, I believe I finally have an avatar suitable for the hype train. If you or anyone else could Spencify it I would be eternally grateful.

Could we see anything Windows 8/Phone/PC related for E3?

With Universal apps and DX12 being mentioned at BUILD this year, I thought maybe Microsoft might show us more (gaming wise) about the PC/Mobile side of things.

Maybe even something about a Halo/Forza game powered by DX12 for Xbox/PC 😜

It could well be shown however I very much doubt it would be at the main conference. If it was it would only be a casual mention of it.

They might show something in the pre-show.

jem0208 you managed to get the badge on the most inappropriate spot you could find :p
Dualshocker's comment section is comedy gold.

It seems the gaming community is becoming aware of the unstoppable hype train.

When the trains arrive at E3, we need one of them crashing through that comment.
LTTP as fuck, sorry guys. But anyone has got a link to this particular thread where this post was made?

With Titanfall looking like it didn't sell loads for EA is there any chance that MS secures exclusivity for the IP?
First game has so much potential. Could be a pretty big franchise for Xbox in the future.

Doesn't use Thunderhead, they use their own solution.

Nah, I think TitanFall will go multiplatform

After reading the Final Hours of Titanfall, it's a miracle they even released a game. Not sure what EA expected, they sold ~1m in the us, not count digital, to around 3m x1 owners. And it's a really fun game too; tried playing ghosts again and just couldn't put up with it. I could definitely see a second one even being more impressive.

I doubt it. I don't understand the deal they made to be honest, they funded its existence, but EA still publish it and originally only for 13 months exclusivity? Doesn't sound like a good deal to me, they should have paid for it and bumped EA out of the picture if they're going to spend all that money on it.

925k in its first 3 weeks in NPDs right? Roughly 300k in the UK? We obviously don't know digital sales, NPDs with 360 release and other regions but when you consider the XB1 install base, I think its not a bad number at all if I'm honest.

Microsoft can secure the exclusivity by cofunding the development and marketing for the sequel(s) like they did with GoW (with EA getting primary investor status, meaning they get paid first before anyone else) . Now before people get up in arms with "No way will EA leave all dat PS4 money!" EA is in a win/win with this deal: if the game tanks/doesn’t hit the projected numbers, Microsoft takes the hit since EA will get paid off first and won't have to front all the capital for game, the game does well EA reaps the profits. That kind of deal off loads most of the risk to Microsoft and allows EA to use its development dollars on IP that the company itself owns.

One thing that a lot of people don't understand is that companies do not like risk, which is why you see sequels and reboots. If a company can do anything to reduce its exposure to risk and still maintain a healthy profit it will do it.

I love how the hair looks in Quantum Break, assuming is not CGI. I dislike how it seems like a solid chunk of plastic even in realistic games.

I have to say, the Sony thread has cooler gifs. Step up my Xbros.

I actually quite like the fact that Xbone hype threads aren't usually so full of gifs of MS executives punching Sony executives or whatever. I find them all pretty cringeworthy.

Yup, gifs celebrating games, and not antagonism between personalities is what I want to see. That hype engine, for instance, is fantastic.

actually a gif fight like this is very easy to win. just get a few good clips from ryse decapitations and amputations, and change some heads making funny expressions and a punchline
wanna go crazy? use mayhem clips from dr3, squashing of pilots in titan's hands, etc
