.Because they are not.
.Because they are not.
Because their amazing game was released on vita.
I absolutely hated both Little Big Planet games. The floating jumps just turned me off from the game instantly.
That Said, Tearaway is one of the most fun and inventive platformers in years. This is what I want from Media Molecule games, and not stuff like Little Big Planet. I want a Tearaway style game on the PS4 that uses the touchpad in cool ways. Probably not as much as what they could do with Vita, but I'd like to see them continue working on Tearaway as a series instead of LBP, or atleast make their next game using what they learned from Tearaway.
<3 Tearaway.
If their output has been so good critically and commercially well received too (ok Tearaway wasn't. God) why have they only still got about 47 employees? Why doesn't Sony pour some funds into these talented Brits and let them shine on the PS4?

I was referring to Tearaway. MM makes games that are incredibly charming, but not all that fun to play
There are 4 fantastic, top tier studios. SSM, MM, PD, ND. Everyone else is rated to good to very good but not in that tier of caliber from WWS.Just reading a Tearaway review the other day and I have been thinking in the run up to E3; there has barely been any hype or anticipation of Media Molecule's next project. Certainly not as much as other studios under the Sony Worldwide Studios banner.
Why is this? They are in exalted company based on their (I don't like using this but...) Metacritic ratings for their games:
Little Big Planet - 95%
LBP2 - 92%
Tearaway - 87%
Secret PS4 project - ??
MM is made up of former Lionhead guys who also worked on Rag Doll Kung Fu. Pedigree is top notch. Granted their output is not massive yet (only 50-odd employees iirc) but you can only judge them on what they have put out.
I'm personally really excited to see what they reveal for the PS4. They have been pumping out top, top quality stuff for years now. I feel they need to be given more of a centre-stage by Sony this gen. Their next title could be a game-changer.
Sucker Punch and GG's get a lot of the spotlight but neither has created a title as highly rated as LBP. Sony should get their damn priorities straight when it comes to the funding of their studios imo.
If you play LBP by yourself, you're doing it wrong.
Does quiet love count?
It's one of the best games on Vita. I don't see why it's on Vita, it diminishes their capabilities.Because all they have done is LittleBigPlanet. There's Teraway, but it's on the Vita...and a good game on the Vita is like that old saying "If a tree falls in the woods, but nobody is there to hear it, does it make a noise?"
Where as Naughty Dog has Crash, Jak, Uncharted, and Last of Us on their resume.
They are my favorite Sony studio.
The second LBP was a better product, but it lacked the element of surprise that characterized the first.
LBP is stupid.
Its like half a game. We play 2d platformers to stomp on enemies. Or to hit things.
Sad as that sounds...
And LBP never lt you do anythign more than jump and grab bubbles.
I duno. I wish it would be Sony's Mario instead of Sony's ...w/e the f it is.
Its not terrible. But it could be a lot btter.

They made one game, a sequel, a vita game and now they're making a Move game.
Overrated.

Yay?
Not hating on GG's here or anything because I love those guys and their technical brilliance.
But how come they have 270+ employees when MM's funding only allows them to employ 47?? It can't be to do with sales:
Little Big Planet - 5.4 million ww sales
LBP2 - 3.2 million
Killzone 2 - 2.9 million
Killzone 3 - 2.6 million
Overrated.

Yeah, compared to what most of Sony's other studios create they're the odd man out. :/Because Naughty Dog is mainstream while Media Molecule is "quirky."

You can have a competent, enjoyable platformer with floaty jump physics like DKC and Rayman Origins. LBP is definitely not that.
Me too.I was referring to Tearaway
Why?
Wasn't it just a tech demo.
Yeah, compared to what most of Sony's other studios create they're the odd man out. :/
MM is a "Nintendo-like" developer stuck on systems where most of their games are niche products.
It kind of makes sense that they don't get talked about in the same way that Naughty Dog is talked about.
:/
I have no idea why it would dampen hopes, unless it was completely misread.
LBP is far from niche in terms of sales and appeal. I get that Tearaway was dealt a bad hand, it really needed to be bundled and that release that was awful, but that doesn't make the studio niche. Also Tearaway was made by a very small team, so the risk on that game was likely low. The critical reception for that game at least provides a big boost of confidence in that team to deliver on the PS4.
W..what am I reading..?LBP is stupid.

LBP as a franchise isn't niche, but the genre it's in definitely is on PS3/4.
Care to explain why?
It was. The potential of the tech they showed went right over the audience's heads. If Media Molecule had said, "our next game will have 3D creation and we're going to show how that works" it would have gathered so much more hype, but it didn't, even though that's still exactly what they showed.
So... they've made four games, one of which is a sequel?
