What do you mean, "Samaritan is real"?
Yep, that's what made so many of the PS2 Mortal Kombat games terrible. They were more interested in adding bulllshit to the games rather than fixing the basics. They need to pay attention to movement, normals, and character speeds. Make each character feel unique. That shit shouldn't just be defined by their special moves.Yep, that is my fear as well... They need to work on their fundamentals before padding things out with in stage gimmicks.
... Why was that human SubZero? I thought that with Noob Saibot and Cyber-SubZero in the last game we were effectively left without a SubZero now? (Thus leaving the door open for Frost's return).
It looked good(well it's not in-game lol), but there were two things that really felt off to me:
1)the music, what was that shit? I don't want that in a fantasy, dark, bloody fighting game like mortal kombat, original music or metal are the only options for me.
2)voices, this is just me, but those voices seemed too equal to the ones of the previous MKs, i mean i love them but it seemed like they copy-pasted the audio files of a previous mortal kombat, another thing is that the video was serious while for some reason i have always considered those voices(and MK in general) not serious, so they don't blend well together imo.
UE3 is disappointing though.
This is UE3 LOL? WAAAAAT!
Just how much better is this going to look than MK9 on PC?
And isn't Injustice running without many jaggies on PS4? I can't see how UE3 is going to push the fighter much. Hmph.

When the series started to devolve and focus on dumb gimmicks is when we got stuff like Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon. I enjoyed those games for what they were, but there is no question about it that their scaled back focus for MK9 resulted in one of the best MK games ever made.
Reptile's new MK9 theme is great as well. Skrillex did a good job. It gets you hype
Was this actually made for the game?
Because I didn't hear it anywhere and thought it was just something Skrillex made for one of his albums.
The (first two I guess, the third sucked imo) 3D games were pretty good though and responsible for MK coming back after all of those terrible games prior. Deadly Alliance was a better fighter with a more interesting story than MK9 even if all of its combos were basically one string.
I loved Deadly Alliance (and Deception) but, nope.
Well Arkham Knight is using a modified UE3.
Look at the difference with the two face model in Arkham City and Knight
"The team has worked hard to make sure Mortal Kombat X delivers everything fans expect along with new characters, new game modes and an all new graphics engine."
Just no, you can squeeze UE3 to an infinte extent...you will never get the things any vanilla UE4 game can do. With UE3, you will be always stuck with last-gen behaviour of the engine in every aspect and you can't bypass its limits.Yep, I'm not seeing the issue. It's even say in the WB statement in the OP:
It is not the same as MK9 but it also not UE4. While UE4 is more capable, the modified engine is clearly very capable
UE3 ?
So basically MK9 with new characters and story mode.
Lame.

Edit: Here maybe the real reasons for not ditching UE3: https://twitter.com/Kitatus_Studios/status/473845861685161984
I agree, but I also don't see it as a major problem for the game. The game releases in 2015 but has likely been in development since 2013. There are very few games in that space of time using UE4 other than Epic's own games (feel free to correct me though I could be wrong). Point is, the expectation of UE4 for this game is unrealistic and unnecessary for a cross-gen title. Of course a UE4 game would be great, who wouldn't want that. But this is also absolutely fine. Again, why are there no complaints for Arkham Knight and it's "last-gen tech" that is exclusive to the new consoles?
And the fake leaks begin:
No names, no source, nothing.
There are many games using UE4 (most of them are indies though) and one game from a big company (Sony Bend). Big companies want to stick to UE3 and last-gen consoles to maximize profits because they have already big names and have nothing to prove, they can just rename the same game and people will still buy it while Indies HAVE TO prove themselves, that is why they always choose newer techs or engines to prove themselves and engrave their name and if one day they will become big enough, they will follow the same path (of laziness and easy money) of the big companies. Sadly, this is how this corrupt business works.

I agree, rain looks like a normal human being and not some dude on steroids or hgh. I hope these are real.Oh even if the leaks are fake, the characters' design look the best in the series and the creepiest too.
No way those leaks are real scorpion looks completely different.
*Sigh*
I'm slowly coming to the realization that the game, among others, will never be released on the Nintendo Wii U.
Disappointing that I know they're fake. Loving each of those designs. And the fake leaks begin:

Never buy a Nintendo console for anything but Nintendo games, anything else that happens to come along is an exception.
I disagree, metal is a very vast universe, there are probably more metal subgenres than other music genres all together lol.Metal would have been just as awkward, if not more in that trailer.
Fake or not they look good. And the fake leaks begin:

I love my system, don't get me wrong. But it's incredibly frustrating that WHEN a 3rd-Party game is released & when you try to support it (such as Need for Speed: Most Wanted), it fails at retail, all because no one else bothers to purchase it.
WB is under contract to use UE3 until the end of either this year or next.

"injustry"
Mmmm...
I seriously cannot stand that MK movie music soundtrack. I think its fantastically cheesy in the worse of ways and any use of that track should be barred from any version of the MK video game.
If you want something awesome, then the dev really should have listen and stuck to their own trumpet, the trumpet of skills used to make this badass soundtrack that was utilize for the MK9 promo:
Bummer about UE3
Bummer that you guys are still talking about the music.
hmm, didn't notice that.... i think you're onto something.
this with the "hard 2 explain" part, and the "x" => MK x Injustice?
Or probably just more Boon being boon?
