No New Final Fantasy XV Info at E3 2014

It's pretty cute watching people get so excited year after year about one single project at Square Enix, even though everything I hear from people in a position to know about it behind the scenes is that the company is a complete and utter disaster. Every year, or every 6 months or so, people hype themselves up believing the the company must be just turning the corner, and that hope can be restored. Every time there's something remotely positive shown for it, so many people want to believe that it's finally on the right track and it'll be coming out, and that it'll be good. Hope is the root of all disappointment. :)

As a long time Square fanboy I've given up on expecting much from them. People went crazy over KH3 last year and I merely shrugged and said. Cool, i'll be excited when its actually coming out. I did expect them to show something for FFXV at e3. Not because I'm looking forward to the game but merely because its kinda expected after such a long development cycle. Though if they're a no show then i wouldn't be shocked either. Square is like that good friend you had when you were growing up who you're still friends with because of that reason but they've changed into someone who you expect disappointment from.

Y'all shut up. This is clearly a controlled anti-leak.. They are simply making this up so they can drop a megaton at E3. IT'S ALL A CONSPIRACY I TELLS YA.

Could you give an example of what you heard? What could possibly be taking so long with this game? Multiple reboots? People getting pulled off the game for other projects?

I think that has been stated in public.

Same exact reaction.

I'm not sure what's worse. The fact we're not getting anything, or the fact I'm not even remotely surprised and don't even feel disappointed

Realistically, is there any conceivable scenario where games like this and The Last Guardian will live up to the immeasurable expectations that time has given them?

I've heard various things over the years from different people about how bad the development situation on Versus and S-E Japan in general are. Poor management, resources being wasted, gameplay not coming together, staff getting frustrated with how things are going. Doesn't paint a particularly nice picture. The concept for the the game has been really appealing to me from the moment it was announced, but it's been really disheartening to see clear signs that the company is really struggling to turn it into the big blockbuster success they need this to be.

Lol, did he just say optimal timing? Game has been in development for what 8 years now? At this point they should just rush it out and start on something else.

So how much is this game costing them now? I'd figure past the $100M mark by this point?

And people mention The Spirits Within. Folks, we're already at that level of disaster.

But FF XIV is not sucking resources anymore!!

But Luminous engine!!

But west feedback!!

Is it weird that a new Dissidia reveal would get me more excited than any new FFXV info?

Also, about KHIII I just realised the sheer obviousness in my mind, that it'll have a Frozen world. Easy to realise, no real A-list actors involved, and that would be millions of sales right there if you plaster Elsa etc. all over the marketing.

But, but they've said that the development is coming along well every year!

I'm starting to think this is all a big scam.
Like they don't have assets outside of those 3 corridors and that plaza we saw at E3 last year.

Like they just have a "FFXV" folder in Nomura's laptop, and it's like 45mb.

To be fair, they managed to pull out FFX|V reborn, which is one of the gaming industry's most spectacular metaphorical rebirths ever seen.

Of course going by that established pattern, we'll have to see XV completely fail before we get a revamp - but because there's no opportunity to logically revamp a single player title that's been released... you might just be right :<

I wonder when (if) FFXV and KH3 are completed, we'll see a mass exodus of employees leaving/retiring?

They should change their name to Eidos

It's typical SE. We can continue their flow chart now as hype is destroyed. We enter the period of despair and please understand. A glimmer of hope shines through as they say we will show something at a later date which desperate fans believe is TGS. PLEASE BE EXCITED enters their minds. TGS comes and we get nothing.

They should change their name to Eidos.

Eidos Japan, studio structuring and resource management now handled by Eidos.

Also I have a question, does the Enix side of SE run independent of the Square side? It almost seems like two different companies still honestly.

The game isn't out, and won't be out anytime soon, so yeah anything could happen. I think the main difference here though, is that FFXIV always looking to be a totally rushed disaster before it came out, and the beta went really poorly. They went ahead with the launch, and to the surprise of no one at all, it was a total disaster.

When they decided to reboot it with 2.0, everything about the reboot looked good from the point they started engaging with the public. The PR was done well, the development updates were promising, there was no evasiveness or empty promises.

I don't think we're at that point yet with XV because they're still being evasive, there are no real signs that the project is coming together well, and there's a lot of big talk but very little being delivered. No real reason to be optimistic or hopeful about this game at all right now. If they do manage to turn it around, I think they'll want to show that it is the case.

A no show at this point is really just scary more than it is hype building... Dare I say bomba.

Worse thing about it. The hype was so there after last year but c'mon...Just release new character information or world pics. It's not hard.

Well, looks like we have to wait for the next generation of consoles to see another FFXV trailer)))))

How dare you SQE, how dare you?! Uh, I don't care anymore.

It would be absolutely hilarious if somehow the last guardian wasn't vaporware and came out before this game. What a shit show. Amazing the incompetence shown here. This game must be the very definition of development hell.
