Sure, go into "Manage 3D settings" in the control panel, click the Add button and select ppsspp (if you launched it recently it should be in the list otherwise browse the executable location), then set the "Power management mode" to be "Prefer maximum performance."

It should look something like this:

Sweet. Thanks man. Hopefully that gets my Kingdom Hearts BBS from audio stuttering every time the framerate drops. Added PCSX2 and Dolphin so hopefully that gives it a boost as well.

wow combat is a bit confusing, especially on psp.

it's giving me cramps oh gosh. it's a wee bit spammy.

and dialogue is a wee bit confusing. since we have to read whatever is being talked about through the walkie-talkie/radio, it's hard to follow the story and at the same time keeping tabs of what ace is getting with 'shuffle cards'.

The card down clocks when it's not being used

It's only used when 3D applications are running. Idling in Windows it should down clock anyway. If you were to run a game that didn't need maximum power it would use a lower clock to conserve power based on usage. Sometimes it misbehaves though, as it was for me in ppsspp, though I've only had this problem one other time with TERA.

The most important combat element is the kill sights. If you attack when the sight is red or yellow, you will either kill the enemy straight out or at least do a massive amount of damage. Try using some of the other characters if Ace is too confusing (hold L, press right on the dpad).

Is it possible to only play as the Lancer for the whole game? Or do I need to make use of that switch feature?

You can play as whoever you want for the most part, but you should experiment. There's lots of characters, each with different playstyles!

I am trying to buy the game from the HK PSN but I am running into trouble. I registered a new account but every time I try to sign onto the HK PSN, I get error messages. Am I doing something wrong?

This game is fantastic considering it's on very limited hardware (psp). I would definitely pick this up on Vita or even a PS3 remaster.

Anyone know why Square didn't release this even as a digital download? Even factoring translation costs. There must be enough fanboys to make it worth their while.

I don't want to! It was love on first sight. Only real man in the bunch and I just love Spears. That jumping attack is also SOOOOO satisfying to use. :3

Just got the game running. Great sassy molassy, that opening cutscene was incredible!

Does anyone know if you can play co-op with the patched version on ppsspp?

They already completed most of the voice over work... As far as we know it's because the PSP was hacked to all hell and they didn't think it was worth it. Ironic then that with this translation they won't make any and we'll still play through it.

Question for anyone. There is a disc 1 and 2. Do you patch both or just one? Because I patched both and they look exactly the same on the psp.

yeah that's a bit confusing because i'm so used to using the right analog for camera but here we have to use the freaking d-pad so lock-on "r" is imperative.

Thanks, so it adds everything from the 2nd disc I assume?

Random aside: how is this legal? A patch makes sense to me because it doesn't distribute significant portions of the original code, but if this only requires one of the two UMDs to work, and the 2GB patch adds the code from the other UMD, isn't that distributing substantial portions of the original game? Or do the two UMDs mirror each other so much that this isn't really the case? And if so, why bother with two UMDs at all?

2 question guys

1. Which version of the emulator is the best to run the games with the least issues?

2. Is it possible to create a shortcut on steam that can launch the game directly?

you buy the game and it has two umds packed in it?

and a person who has the game most likely won't sell one umd at a time?

never came across a person who's selling disc 2 of his ff7 game.

okay, maybe there are people out there who want to sell off their disc 2 of xenogears. lol.

I've downloaded the patcher twice and it keeps saying the file is corrupted. I went ahead and tried patching anyway and it's been stuck on "patching...please wait" for quite a while now.

The practicality of it is besides the point if how the patcher works really is the case. It wouldn't be different than distributing the songs off of the second disc of a multi CD album.

Don't know what I need to lower, but it runs terrible in some scenes. The in-game cutscenes and when it brings up the loading icon or Combat End pops up.

Was my thought too. Disc 1 contains the intro and ending portions while disc 2 contains the rest of the game. This means the patch includes substantial amounts of content from both disc. They share most of the assets so only difference is the scenario etc. Legality aside, a patch containing almost the whole game is sure to attract attention. They are basically redistributing most of the edited assets, not just the translation itself.

Heh, well, I get that you're unlikely to only have one half of the game. But technically, even downloading a pirated copy of a game you already own is illegal (though morally I think that's mostly fine). So is this that? Or is there some UMD voodoo I'm not aware of going on here?

Also, this would maybe make sense if you HAD to have, say, the first UMD. But apparently the patcher works with either UMD. Which means it must have substantial portions of both the first and the second UMD, right? Or that the two UMDs have mostly the same code on them, and the patcher only includes the bits unique to each UMD (and that those portions aren't very large)?

I've been thinking about this too, with regards to whether it's kosher to allow it to be linked here on NeoGAF, and I don't have an answer because I don't know what is actually distributed in the patch files.

Except that the patch doesn't work without the game unlike a second disc of an album.

aw maaaaaaaaaan I really don't want to have to ask these questions and risk weird legal takedown stuff, I take it all back!

I'm kidding but man if that's how this works, that sucks bigtime.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
I kinda figured that was why the patch was 2gb. That's pretty weird, since I have my ripped umd's ready to go, I was expecting like 50mb.

I imagine a large portion of the patch files are CGI movies re-rendered with english text in them, but..I don't know. I can tell you that my dumps of the ISOs are way more than 2GB, so I don't know...does the patcher only work with disc 1, anyway, or both discs (if you only had, say, disc 2)?

The patch doesn't work without the game, regardless, so unless that's just a ruse, I think it'd be okay.

Yeah, I was more asking from a theoretical "does this distribute copyrighted code?" angle rather than "OMG YOU COULD MAKE A PLAYABLE GAME OUT OF THE PATCH" because clearly it's not big enough for that. If it is the CGI movies with baked-in English subtitles, I guess there would be no other way to make that work well without a big download, but then could that be grounds for a C&D? I hope not.

The head of the translation patch already said C&D orders pretty much don't exist in their country, anyway. As long as they're not selling it, next to nothing can be done about it.
