I hope not, they already did that on the 3DS.

Another would be ludicrous. That said 1) Does Falco even say that line in SF64 and 2) I am taking everything with a grain of salt until the Nintendo Direct.

The artwork for Falco looks like it was taken from the 3DS remake. But if Miyamoto is planning an episodic release, I don't think Star Fox 64 would be a model to follow unless you added more planets.

Could just be asset placeholders.

This is amazing on the concept of Miyamoto seeing a franchise that died due bad management and getting his full backing to bring it back.

I'm so confused right now. You guys know NOTHING about this game. You have seen 1 screenshot. From that 1 screenshot, you have already decided that it is an eshop game, and are shitting all over it. How about everyone drinks a tall glass of calm-down juice and waits to hear about it in the conference? Even then, why don't we wait until we get some real hands on previews from the sites and people we trust before we all go off the deep end.

You wanted StarFox, They're giving you StarFox, The choice is now yours. You can buy and play it when it is released, or Nintendo will never make another StarFox game again, because "they don't sell".

I predict precisely 4x people will listen to you. FWIW I wholeheartedly agree.

People should actually read the article.

Maybe then they'll notice that these are experiments and not even proper, green-lit projects yet. And definitely won't get mentioned during the Digital Event -_-

The Wii U's gamepad is a lot better for motion controls than the Wii remotes. You guys should play Nintendoland's F-Zero or Donkey Kong attractions. The control is precise.

I have awoken to good news, very good news indeed.

But haven´t you heard: Something something sinking ship, sleeping on a not good looking sandwich ..... Star Fox was AAA 20 years ago !

.....................................................
Edit: Can´t we please wait till we see the game in motion ? For all we know, there could be a non-motion-controll-mode.

and youve derived this from one picture

Bra-vo

I derived this from logic. It's a game where you are a giant fucking robot and you lean and move the pad to move the robot It's clearly meant to be one of the games Nintendo wants to use to show off the gamepad controller. It's doesn't require a stretch in logic to determine that Nintendo is trying to justify the gamepad.

I think it's hilarious that every other game and company gets judged on screenshots and leaks and information but now that that same thing is happening to Nintendo you guys are shocked and want everyone to hold their horses.

I don't know if this was in reference to me, but Nintendo seems to be asleep at the wheel as their ship is sinking, other consoles are making their games look prehistoric in comparison, and they supposedly couldn't work out a Star Fox for Wii using the Wii remote's nunchuk and pointer controls over the course of 4 years, despite having a perfect analog in the form of Sin & Punishment 2. Now they're trotting out super early demos that remind me (both mechanically and graphically) of games I've seen on the app store. I think Nintendo has lost its fucking mind.

Have you seen Mario Kart 8? People were complaining about the graphics not looking that great during its first showing.

Now the screenshot threads are flooded with MK8 pics and people going on about how great it looks in motion. Seriously, aside from Warioware, how many bad looking 1st party WiiU releases have you seen?

NSMBU (not that impressive, but looks decent in motion)
Super Mario 3DWorld
Pikmin 3
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Mario Kart 8

Hell even Wind Waker HD looks really good. Nintendo isnt going to release a first party title that looks worse than its previous efforts.

It's really funny to me that people expected Miyamoto's new projects to be anything other than small when he's specifically talked about wanting to do small scale projects in the past, and that people clamored for a new Star Fox on a system that explicitly uses a gimmicky controller and then - upon getting that game - are outraged that it uses the controller's functions. Especially after the CEO of the company stated that they will start focusing on making games that utilize the controller's special features.

Have people not learned to expect certain things from Nintendo by this point?

Or at least to read and remember.

I'm just as pumped and anxious to hear more as the next person, but I really, really, really hope the gyro controls aren't mandatory for starfox.

I'm just going to reiterate this here for all the peopel acting as if motion controls are the end of the world:

Metroid Blast used a combination of sticks and motion controls in the Gamepad for the ship controls, and that game played brilliantly.

A rail shooter that uses twin sticks rather motion controls is a rail shooter that is using a more inaccurate, inherently inferior control mechanics for aiming a reticule.

CHOO CHOO!!!!!!!

Maybe you missed my point, I meant you'd expect the company to be run more competently than it really is.

That is true of all games publishers this entire generation, It's a sad state but these facts were obvious from the beginning which why it's extremely strange your only realising this now.

The TIME interview seemed to imply the game is to be released episodically, which is where the eShop comments are coming from.
Everything is speculation at this point.

This is similar to the situation with the original Wii demos that eventually became Wii Sports. These are gameplay concepts. Actual shippable games are 12-18 months off.

MK8 looks like a PS4 game.

I was under the impression the game has been worked on for years on the Wii but only transitioned now to becoming an actual game on the Wii U since they didn't know where to take it

the fuck are you on about

im talking about Star Fox lol

Why are people complaining about motion controls? Are you too lazy?

It's Wii u. People complained that there aren't games using well the gamepad... What a world.

actually I am too lazy. I loved the Wii when it first game out but i would just like to play games now without the tedious work of motion control. I work all day. I work out 4 times a week so I don't need "the exercise". after a long day and the kids are asleep i'd like to sit and play Zelda without having to snap my damn wrist!

A link between worlds on my 3DS was so enjoyable because i could play the whole thing almost with just buttons.. i boot up skyward sword to finally finish it and it's so annoying after years of motion control.

Other's love the motion stuff and that's fine.. me personally.. i just want all the games to have an option to not have motion control and still be very enjoyable.

Motion controls, probably more than anything else, are just really hard to gauge from video/articles/screenshots. People have been burnt by poor implementations in the past and are naturally skeptical. I think there's a lot of promise here because Ninty has also had good implementations in the past and, of the games they could add motion controls too, Star Fox is a fitting candidate. Mild reactions on either side make decent sense, but I don't get why anyone would write it off or, on the flipside, be so optimistic that they don't see why others have some skepticism.

Hmm, not too stoked by the bits of info here. But I'd like to try them, they might be fun.

If Miyamoto's mission is to demonstrate that the Gamepad is actually useful and not just a gimmick, though, I'm leaning towards "mission not going well". These look just as gimmicky, if not more so, than Nintendoland...another game that's fun, but did absolutely nothing to generate interest in the Wii U.

Guys, we're getting a NEW STAR FOX!!

And I'm really excited about those other games, as well. They smack of the sort of innovation found in Nintendo Land. Looking forward to playing them with friends!

Is that Teddie from Persona 4 in the top left of the pic of Miyamoto playing Star Fox? SMT X FE?

Nah, there's no way, it has a yellow stripe and teddie doesn't-well I'd be damned, he does.
Still, that UI doesn't have the visual flair I'd expect from SMTxFE, so I'm doubtful it will be that. But color me wonderfully surprised if it is.
