The only thing that's debunked is that Shulk is revealed today. Chrom was definitely on the list of newcomers.

Exactly, and Chrom isn't playable. Gematsu is gone, or at least not entirely correct. Don't get me wrong, I was actually a fan of it being real, but there's just no denying it now with Chrom getting disconfirmed.

In Fire Emblem Awakening, Lucina starts the game as a mysterious person in a mask going by the name "Marth". The real Marth is available as a DLC character, and their battle models are just head-swaps on the same body, with the same animations. So if Lucina is a Marth alt in Smash, it would be fairly appropriate.

I'm sad that I haven't gotten around to playing FE: Awakening, but ever since a friend of mine spoiled who Lucina was for me, I haven't been interested. Even with the new reveals, I'm not all that interested as Lucina looks like a Marth clone.
