Just watched the first episode of Akame ga Kill, that was NOT what I was expecting, but still highly enjoyable and promising.

Sword Art Online II 03

I cannot take this gun phobia shit seriously at all.

Same. I like the show so far, and Sinon is great. But she really needs to get the fuck over it. What I'd like to know is what
happened to her mom? Did she abandon Shino after the incident? She looked scared-as-fuck of her own daughter after that
.

And so we go back to the questionable writing of the first season.

But really though, how can she not get a panic attack from a video game about guns and yet simply imagining one will set her off? And the nurse...? Really?

Ok, this was genuinely great. Didn't see
Princess revealing herself and Slayne deserting
, those are pretty huge game-changers. Though they were going to drag it with MISUNDERSTANDINGS and whatnot. Protagonist also did something instead of just looking bored most of the times.

Thanks to the Japanese Wiki entry for telling me how these stories are split up. Watching the entire first book in one go made it more cohesive. This show has a lot of the same people as there were behind Dantalian in the production committee, and Dantalian is one of my favorite series. While KamiMemo's Alice was more about justice and Dalian was more about learning how to be human, Victorique's motivations amount to simply being bored. The period-piece but not set in a real place nature of the work also intrigues me. OP and ED are lovely. I knew going into this that Japanese mystery series are more about revealing facets of the characters than revealing facets of the case, and in this case Victorique's very similar to Dantalian. Genius girl tsundere detective. Only she's fully human.

Something something triceratops.jpg. I don't have a problem with Kazuya. He's confident and plays off Victorique well. Grevil's a total blowhard, but he doesn't appear to present any real threat to anyone either.

The atmosphere aboard the Queen Beryl was suspenseful, and although CR's streams aren't 720p, it's not exactly a deal breaker for me. I'm pleased with what I see overall.

So I can hold you up by doing a finger bang?

Yeah also signed up. I'll have that ps4 come august. Just dl the ps3 beta right now.

Or something Americans are desensitized to. :p

I never want to touch a gun IRL either.

Hehe probably are. Also it's weird seeing knowing how many peps don't want anything to do with one. You hear shots go off every so often were I live. Although I am a part of that when I sometimes go clay shooting.

I wonder about that, too.
By the way, why would the mom look so scared at her child for shooting the guy? I mean if he wasn't hurting anyone to that point or so but... he's a complete lunatic that's killed one already and targets her next. Yet, when her daughter kills the guy she acts... scared of her daughter?!? Like what? Shouldn't she be extremely relieved about Sinon (as well as herself) being alive? Just seemed off. Then again, SAO's author doesn't understand people so it's more of a surprise when something seems right.

Okay this gunphobia thing is really getting the piss taken out of it here. I agree that it was poorly done in SAO but it's not too hard to believe someone could react this way. Think about it for a minute. You're <10 (at least that's what she looked like in the anime) and you shoot someone dead. That's a pretty traumatic experience for anyone let alone a kid. Any time someone reminds her of that experience,
even if it's a stupid finger gun
, she probably feels like absolute shit. This is probably amplified even further in a non-gun culture country like Japan.

I read somewhere, it was possibly even here on gaf, of someone who stopped a robber by shooting him when he was a teenager. Everyone called him a hero and that he should be proud of himself for killing such a villain. However, he felt like he had done something wrong. He had taken a life and everyone calling him a hero caused such conflicting feelings he wanted to commit suicide.

Phobias and the human mind are a strange thing. I don't like guns but most of the games I play are shooty shooters. You can separate reality from games and the feelings you get from both are much different. Perhaps it is because you know it is a game and the consequences of actions are much different.

It was alright, wondering if the extra visual flair Minako and Usagi had to them is mostly character specific because Rei's had it somewhat but it's been lacking in Makoto and Ami.

Aldnoah Zero 03

I was wondering about the soles of the feet last episode! It's not really a practical point of attack, so it's not surprising that they were looking for a more accessible weak point.

I'm a sucker for "Try to figure out how the enemy's power works" stuff. It allows the show to provide explanations for how stuff works without either clunky exposition (because the characters are investigating and discussing things that are as new to them as they are to the audience) or the antagonists just blatantly explaining. (I love Jojo, but...)

It'll be interesting if this show achieves technological parity between the two sides by instigating a civil war, rather than the protagonist stumbling across a super prototype. From the title of the show I guessed it would revolve around the Earthlings using a precursor machine of which all the other Martian Kataphrakts are but pale copies, but I'm not sure about that anymore.

Gintama 183
I tend to watch Gintama in chunks of 3~5 episodes in a week and then forget about it for at least 15 days, since for me this anime has a lot of ups and downs. The past few "serious" episodes were really boring for me and Jiraia's drama was unbearable.

Then, comes an arc about the popularity contest. The first episode was funny, so I decided to watch the second part right away. And it starts with a weird Hokuto no Ken parody: I AM SHOCK!!.

The opening was also amazing. (couldn't find it on YouTube).

This arc pretty much saved Gintama for me.

It makes me feel good to see oreimo get put on blast. I
would have loved the show so much more if it had been about a brother and sister overcoming years of separation to become great friends again instead of them overcoming years of separation to decide they're gonna fuck each other like rabbits once they get out of high school and get married.

Whatever you think about the show as it is now, I think most would agree with that.

School Days 04

Never have I fallen in love with the cast of an anime so quickly.

Makoto is loyal and dependable, Sekai helps her friends with their problems in the best ways she thinks is possible and Kotonoha knows exactly how to deal with others.

And it looks like we get a pool episode next...

And to think you've not even gotten to the really 'good' parts yet... :p

Lol. So AnimeGAF is like a Hydra? :p

Yup ;)

Well you were in a low part , i'm pretty sure that the next "serious arcs will move you"
It moved everyone else.
In 17 eps you'll have the cut , and the start of gintama' And you should expect good things from that.

I thought the opposite that Yoshihara and Jiraiya Arc were one of the best in Gintama let alone boring though all serious arcs are great. And that fight with Housen was so fuckin great. It even had one of my favorite and best girl in Gintama, you know Tsukuyo and that chemistry with Gintoki. Though I hope you enjoy the next serious arc.

Seeing Oreimo mentioned here...

I can't be the only that considered the premise of that show insanely stupid? The idea that Kirino loves eroge games, particularly the incestuous ones, because she... because she thinks the little girls in those are cute is so outrageously stupid that I just can't... even... what.

I didn't even know what Oreimo was until I started and figured "oh it's that my little sister can't be so cute" show... uh. Well I've read plenty comments saying that it's not actually so bad, so okay. Incest is one of those wtf-anime/Japan topics but maybe it it's dealt with decently...

But no. It's just your generic low quality harem trash. However that they even go so far and try to tell the audience that Kirino likes all that eroge shit because of how cute the little girls in there are, that's just about the biggest cop-out I've seen.

It started out with a fun premise but I think everybody knew it was gonna go "there". What pissed me off about it generally was Kirino herself. Had she been even slightly likeable Id have no problem with incest is wincest.
Still we got Kuroneko out of it. Cant complain much.

I feel like I'm in a minority when it comes to liking the direction of episode one of iM@S.

Nah I loved it too. It was creative to frame it that way like a documentary.

Sailor Moon Crystal 2

Plotwise I've no issues and I think Usagi sounds far better in this ep.

What gets me down is mostly me being terribly unfair about the production. Animation and art is such a shadow of what I'm getting in in Sailor Stars. I mean, I assume that group was at the top of their game after so many episodes of work but I don't think I'd even find myself making a comparison if the current show's visuals weren't so perfunctory.

This is new age Sailor Moon. Its made for a new audience, so I think some allowances shoud be made. Its not trying to be the original exactly. They are rereleasing the original for fans of the original anyway. People should let the new show be what it is.

This may seem random but who believes that Mulan is better than Frozen from Disney. I say this because people really hype the shit out of Frozen and make it out to be the best shit from Disney. And people singing Let it Go, that song is so overrated. I'll Make a Man Out of You is so much better, such a classic. Don't people miss that 2D art.

I think theyre equally enjoyable moves from Disney and provide some variety. They shouldnt really be compared because Lion King blows them both to smithereens anyway.

You'd think re-establishing itself as something that doesn't look bad would be a priority especially if they have weeks between eps.

Kuroneko deserved so much better.

.

If it's for a new audience, it wouldn't be released bi-weekly on a streaming site only as is.

What do you mean low part. You didn't like the Yoshihara and Jiraiya Arc. I thought they were great.

Its surprising one of the shows I was watching just to fill time has become probably #2 from last season for me.

The Crimson Prince is also the most like-able 'villian'

wait. I thought fujoshi was those girls with penises....
What did you think I was talking about when I kept refering to fujyoshi all those times? lol

(Also, SAO podcast? lol)

It's terrible. Sounds like a grandmother trying to pretend to be a teenager.

Isn't that her original VA?
She is like 120 years old now. A little to old to play a teenager.
Pretty much.
