lol I don't understand the second question but

I picked NSMBU as my free game and I got 599 points out of it. Got a code from that alone. I'm also 4 points away from yet another code. What the shit lol

Does the free game count as "digital purchase" for the deluxe promotion?
Yes it does, since you're using a code to download it from the eShop.

With the free game you get:

60 Club Nintendo Coins (registration)
10 Club Nintendo Coins (post-play survey)
499 eShop points

Just make sure your Wii U/NNID/Club Nintendo account are all synced up before taking any further action for rewards or promotions.

Can I use it to "unlock" the promotion? They require you to buy one first in the eShop
I have to say...I don't know. But since people are getting points for redeeming the codes after having already "unlocked" the promotion, I'd imagine the free game being downloaded on the eShop would unlock the promotion itself.

You basically just need to download SOMETHING from the eShop for the promotion to kick in. Something that would be redeemed for points anyway. Unless all you have to do is download something in general, where in that case you could just go for one of the F2P titles. Wish I knew more. Just trying to think of the logic of it first.

In regards to this, I actually didn't really do my research.

I pre-ordered a digital DL copy of Mario Kart 8 (From Game.uk) and couldn't register it to my Aus account :( (I didn't know that PAL REGION only applies to physical games according to Nintendo). So naturally I contact the supplier of the code and they gave me a 'too bad, contact Nintendo' answer.

I ended up just buying a digital copy from the Aus eShop. BUT I still have a digital code for the UK of Mario Kart 8, and I'm not sure what to do with it. I would love to sell it to someone cheap, just to get some money back :/
You should have really asked here before taking the bolded step.

If you had just made a non-Oceania NNID on your Wii U (in system settings change country then make a new user) you have have been able to use the GAME.co.uk code fine and can also play it on your Australian NNID.

As for getting rid of the digital MK8 you can't use try the Buy Sell Trade thread in community. Make clear it is a European copy of Mario Kart 8 and see if anyone bites really.

Yeah, I know I should have. I attempted changing settings, but as I hadn't really done that on Wii U before, I definitely didn't do it properly. Thanks anyway :)

I have posted in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread, but I didn't want to advertise it as anything other than a UK code, as that is what I am lead to believe is the case. If not, I might get desperate and just make a UK ID and at least claim the free game (have to the end of the month, if I remember correctly). I really only want something back, so I am not just left kicking myself, especially since I am usually a really patient person :(

If my wife has her nnid and I have my nnid on the same wiiu, would I be able to use another code for her and get another game?

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Sure, but you could also just redeem the game on your NNiD its a general code that can be used on every NNiD. And WiiU users can play all games installed on the system, even if bought and downloaded from other accounts.

I just bought a Wii U and was happy to find out that this promotion is still going on! It ends July 31st (in North America at least). I thought I'd bump the thread for other folks who didn't know.

So is it a physical copy?? Or digital copy for NOA?? I'm on the fence, but might pick up Mario Kart 8 and a free Wii Party U for my gf, if I can redeem the code for a physical copy at BB or Target.

The free game is a download code from Club Nintendo. If you buy a retail copy of MK8 you have to register the code found in the case.

I just wanted to give a heads up about something I have heard.

Guys be very careful. I downloaded 5 titles and nintendo revolked two. Don't forget the games are tied to your nintendo console and as such they have access to the serial numbers etc. They revoked two games which did not play, and when i went into my download history they were not there to be re-downloaded. Contacted nitendo and they said theyre doing this now due to ebay code abuse.

The funny thing is they did not tell me why they allowed me to keep some and deleted the rest. They just said the most recent two titles were deemed not eligible due to ebay abuse blah blah.

Whilst I understand I downloaded 5 but still, just thought I'd warn you guys on the possible risks of the whole thing. Especially since these are "ebay codes". Anyways hope it helps.
Like anything NOE related they could have handled this better by issuing a warning first and just generally not being in really bad taste.

I would suggest avoiding the eShop until you've played the games. Makes me dread what will await me (Wii U is offline for now and lack of NAND space meant I couldn't get downloads of my lot).

Soooo Wii Party U is kind of awesome...

this is honestly better than any Mario Party game I've played, I think. There are so many cool modes outside of the board games, and they may or may not even utilize mini-games at all. Some are just completely standalone.

If anyone is in my situation where you already own copies of the other three games, and are considering just selling the code instead of redeeming it for Wii Party U, just know that it is actually a fantastic party game, so you might be missing out.

So my cousin downloaded MK8 to his Wii U before making a club Nintendo account and linking his system and now he dosnt have an option for the free game, even though MK8 shows up as registered to his account. Is he screwed?

(assuming Europe) Have you entered the PIN on the eShop receipt? I found I had to do that despite MK8 showing up on my account.

NA. So you get a PIN in the email they send you to confirm purchase?
In Europe going on the eShop and looking through the purchase history and viewing the receipt for Mario Kart 8 has a PIN but it might work differently in America. In any case NOA customer services are very good at resolving these sorts of problems since the game is showing up but the promotion is not sounds like a glitch. It is odd though since in Europe you have to make a purchase while the Club Nintendo link is active for it to show up in your account.

he did it wrong, but he's not screwed; as Starwolf said tell him to call NoA customer service and they will work it out without much trouble. this is a very common issue.

I will be livid if they revoke any of my games...

Crap.. I was going to pick up a second copy of MK8 today. Hope they don't revoke my copy. You're supposed to redeem the code on a family Club Nintendo account right?

Edit: Didn't realize this was for NoE. I should be good since I'm the US I guess

Is this offer still going in the UK, then? I might be getting a Wii U this or next week, and i could do with a free insta-backlog.

Oh, and what's in the EU free game list, if so?

Scratch this whole post, read the OP.

So, another question: Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD or Monster Hunter 3 U? GO

Actually, yet another question: Does anyone think that Nintendo will do a similar prommotion with Smash Bros.? Either version.

W101. 2013 GOTY.

Awww, Europe gets many more options. :(

Once MK8 arrives for me, I will pick Wind Waker but if I had Europe's options, I would pick Monster Hunter 3U.

What a shame :(.

How do I register my second MK8 code to a family account? I added another account to me Club nintendo. Do I just enter the code like normal and it asks me which account it belongs to or is there a way to switch to that account?

The sub-account will have a username and password. Open that one and enter the code.

Is it possible to redeem the free game promo code without access to a WiiU? I ordered one of the refurbished WiiU's but there's a possibility that the WiiU won't arrive in time.

When does this deal expire in the US?

The promotion will expire this July 31st while the download code will expire on Sept 30th.

Yes. Someone already asked this from the other thread. Let me see if I can find it.

edit: Here you go.

Has anyone here gotten a code without having their Wii U yet? I don't want to waste a chance at a free game.

I can confirm it: you don't need a Wii U linked to claim your free game; I got my code before I had a Wii U.

Thanks!

Just to clarify, I just have to register MK8 on Club Nintendo and I get a download code for the free game?

But then you must get the code by selecting the game you want from the Club Nintendo by August 31. The code itself must be redeemed on a Wii U by September 31.

Damn! I said I was going to wait at least another year or until I cleread my backlog (lol), but this is tempting... And WiiU's are currently 20% off around here... Someone talk me out of this!

I caved and ordered a Mario/Luigi bundle and I'm getting Mario Kart on the eshop. Is there anything I need to know? I remember some people missing out on a similar promotion for the 3ds last year but I can't remember what they did wrong. I already have a club Nintendo account thanks to the 3ds, I'm assuming I can use it for the WiiU as well, provided I can remember the password?
