"Yeeaaah, umm... I'm going to need you guys to stop talking about Ridley, okay?"

Another exciting episode of "Beelzebufo vs SmashGAF: Who cracks first?"
Huh? It's not really a contest.

It's pretty commonly accepted that they're not the same, I'm surprised you wouldn't know that, since you seem to be a Metroid fan.

One month to go, so they gotta start revealing them, probably.

List of characters that were always starters since their first Smash game that aren't yet revealed:

Ice Climbers
Meta Knight
Lucas
Wario

Since 3 of those are Brawl characters, I only would largely expect Ice Climbers to be on the starting roster. Although, if both Lucas and Ness return, I'd expect one of them to be a starter and the other to be an unlockable.

Hopefully we all learned from the past lol.
Oh God I apparently haven't.

You're right, it's the Varia Suit.

(The modified Screw Attack symbol was made up for Smash and was obviously based on the Screw Attack. Metroid later adopted it for its logos and, in Prime, the suit upgrades and credits. You happy now?)

Uh... exactly lol. Don't know why you needed to start all the drama then when you could have just said that in the first place. It's not a screw attack, like you said.

Fun fact though, before the Samus symbol was created, the Metroid symbol was the screw attack, but has since been changed. Maybe that's where the confusion comes from?

At this point I'm kinda expecting the majority of the remaining starting veterans to be revealed in another Smash Direct before the Japanese release.

It just seems odd that we haven't had any PotD veteran reveals in so long, though maybe I'm reading too much into that.

Probably the remaining vets are truly hidden, or in newcomer trailers the way Falcon was. Would be very weird to see Ice Climbers as a hidden character

Yeah, only character left that has been a consistent starter for two games, probably why they are a popular pick for next newcomer.

The symbol is still used for the Screw Attack in Zero Mission.

It kinda makes sense; with Brawl, we only got one veteran past September (Sheik). I'm guessing as they get into the last six months of development, they get to a point where they're not 100% certain who they'll be able to finish, and thus are less sure who'll be starting, unlockable, etc, and thus don't reveal veterans as frequently.

The symbol is still used for the Screw Attack.

Right... you misunderstood my post. In Smash 64 and Melee, the symbol for the Metroid series was the screw attack. After the Samus symbol was created (I guess in Prime?), the symbol for the Metroid series changed from the screw attack to the Samus symbol.

The screw attack also appears in Brawl and WiiU/3DS, but as an item.

You've been agreeing with me ever since your second post.

I'm still waiting for a new smash direct.. But I dont know if it will come before the 3DS, maybe one focusing on the Wii U version

The "Samus symbol" is a modified Screw Attack design.

This is stupid.

So considering that Smash is coming out in only 6 weeks in Japan, we should start seeing some ads start to air.

One ad I hope to re-purpose is the class Smash 64 ad that easily told the premise of the game, namely that your favorite Nintendo characters are kicking the crap out of each other.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K783SDTBKmg

My question to you is if you are going to re-create this ad for modern audiences, which 4 characters would you use for your Smash commercial?

My picks:
Keep Mario, and Pikachu, and add Wii Fit Trainer, and Link.

Probably get both, one a week or two before the Japanese release of the 3ds version in September, and another a week or two between the wiiu version is release in Japan probably november/december

The "Samus symbol" is a modified Screw Attack.

This is stupid.

It's not though... it was used for the Varia suit, and later for Metroid in general, as you pointed out, while the screw attack stayed the same, as you showed. That's why you see a difference between the Samus symbol and the Screw Attack in Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS. Like I said, you've already said this yourself several times. I don't see what the problem is.

The prime series did eventually make a design for the screw attack, and it looks pretty close to the normal screw attack design, albeit the lightning bolt extends over the sides of the circle and are sort of curved.

Mario, Pikachu, Sonic, Donkey Kong.

You guys really need to stop arguing with people like Beelzebufo who are just contrarians trying to start arguments just to start them and not because they actually believe what they're arguing about.

He's not even arguing with me lol. We're agreeing with each other, but he's being really hostile about it for some reason. And I'm the bad guy?

SO HOW ABOUT THOSE NEW STAGES
Since we were talking about Rhythm Tengoku stages yesterday may I make the suggestion of a stag based of Screw Bots from the Wii version. The stage hazard would be the arm that will attack the players with the robot heads, a screw attack if you will.

So, what new Kirby Stages could we possibly get? I haven't played any Triple Deluxe, and I've played very little Return to Dreamland.
An Epic Yarn stage would be cool, but I still think we need a stage based on the city from City Trial (even though we now basically have a whole mode based on it).

Could pull a lot of areas from return to dreamland, not sure if triple deluxe is too new to have a smash based stage. Might get something based upon mass attack

I could see an Epic Yarn stage happening

I would adore an Epic Yarn Stage, but I would also love a City Trial one that moves around like Mute City/Delfino Plaza.

A Return to Dream Land stage would be pretty great too, but I think the other two make for funner ideas.

City Trail stage would be amazing. They could have a bunch of events from the city like Dyna-Blade showing up.

Mass Attack was a god damn blast, I'll take any references to it we could get.

I like Royal Road from Triple Deluxe. Nice-looking place and the site of some big boss battles. You could have Sectonia and other Kirby final bosses in the background.
Okay Samurai's Ninja, what will Monday's PoTD be?
That's classified.

Ooh, a City Trial stage would be great, but I'm not expecting it. Unless we get two stages, I'm expecting a Return to Dream Land stage over an Epic Yarn one. I think Triple Deluxe might be too recent to make a stage out of, if even XY were almost too recent.

While I wouldn't expect anything from Triple Deluxe (probably too recent), I'd want this as a stage.

linked because endgame spoilers (in case those bother you in a kirby game)

Simple neutral layout, boss battle motif, obvious choice for awesome music. The boss hazard wouldn't have to be any more intrusive than the Main Cannon #2 was on Halberd, and there's some dynamic stage stuff they could pull from the fight as well.

RtDL doesn't have too many memorable locations, but battling on the Lor Starcutter as it flies through Another Dimension might be cool.
