I added details to the OP. The PS3 version is the ONLY retail release in Japan (with regular, CE, and LE). The remaining platforms are all download only. Including PS4.

Well, that's the right treatment for niche platforms in Japan I'd say.

right now it decidedly does not look gorgeous anywhere if the screens are any indication

weird filtered blur crap. i was hoping they had rendered the pre-rendered backgrounds at a higher resolution than was in the actual GCN version and would have been able to use them or something

sort of like that thread which showed all those higher resolution images of the backgrounds from FFIX, because I guess they were rendered in a higher res originally.

I'm not into RE but I'm honestly pretty hyped. I've pulled out REmake a number of times with the aim to play it through but it never happens.

And someone who complains about tank controls, the new option is great. HOWEVER, I will stick with tank controls...just to stay "pure"

Well, If the backgrounds are just upressed still images I'm cautious about how it'll look in higher than 1080p resolutions. Hell, even the 1080p images here look a bit iffy. I don't really care that much though, I've always wanted to try this version so as long as they don't strip content out I'm in.
