[Rumor] New PS4 UI leaked

Indeed. That part is sweet. I was referring to the part where Sony would be removing the type of trophy you received on the first screen (revealing less information than they currently do) and also telling you to press the playstation button every time you get a notification. There has to be a better way to do that. I mean this is from the same company that had basically no on screen tutorial when you first startup the PS4 to tell you how double tapping the playstation button actually works, etc.

You seem to be pretty pedantic about this. Press the PS button and there's your trophy, what type it is and what you got it for.

If you're going to bother to respond, I'd appreciate you actually respond to the points I'm making.

The outline of the trophy icon is of the same color of the trophy you unlocked. Bronze for bronze, silver for silver, gold for gold.

Ah I missed that. Thanks!

The RP showing on Killzone Shadowfall in 1 picture, and not showing up in the others leads me to believe that it's fake.

A shame, cause its awesome looking. Hopefully Sony will at least take notes.

I want to believe but there are so many obvious mockup clues. :/
Even in the video. The whited out name moves perfectly with the slide-in animations. If someone added that white box afterwards, then I would expect the box to not match up so perfectly. :/

In addition to all the other stuff that's been pointed out, if you open this and this in separate tabs and flip between them, you'll see that the second screen is shifted horizontally a few pixels for no reason. I don't see any reason for a screenshot function to introduce this kind of change... but even if you want to take it as a bug, it's not consistent, because the same thing happens with these two screenshots of Guacamelee, except the shift is vertical, so it's not even consistent. It would be a very easy mistake to make when editing it, though.

Loads of improvements, nice! Still not as good as the XB1 UI but I'll take it.

The only thing the Xbox UI has is that it's way more flexible. In that way it's much better. In every other way it is the worst piece of shit I've ever used. Navigation and the way apps are loaded is a giant clusterfuck. No thanks.

To be completely honest, I'm surprised this is still open as a "rumour" and not listed as a PS4 UI concept. Because quite a few signs point to it being fake.

It seems fake, but I'd love to see Sony use some of these ideas. Being able to see exactly what the trophy you've just earned without having to trudge through menus would be awesome, and that invitation overlay looks sweet too.

As much as I'd like to believe it's true there are too many elements that make you think the other way.

The Rating logos on KZ and Knack tiles at times, and the wave background effects looks simplified, and is the same and repeated across the screenshots but just moved at little or it's transparency changed... So obviously not a live running OS and then screen grabbed, even though they bothered to change to time by 2 minutes.

Only hope maybe is that these are Sony's rough internal mock ups, if not they should definitely take note and get to work!

Would've been nice, hopefully something similar to this will eventually come out. I wish in future updates when people send you a message you get to see the first sentence or two. Tired on getting "new message" pop ups for them to be just a few words.

Also, Damn Rayman looks pretty might have to get that!

Killzone shadowfall in 'My favourite games'? clearly fake.

How would you know? The game hasn't even received an ESRB rating, yet!

Yeah, because of that I am also inclined to go with fake.

i like it. as long as the friends list and social features get even more streamlined this supposed update could only be a good thing.

No, it's actually quite easy to do it, even without using motion tracking.

Personally i don't know what to believe, there are some elements that point to a fake, but on the other hand, the improvements of the UI, are not something hard to swallow.

Instead of a redesign they should focus on under the hood improvements:

- Contextual PS button (it's already there for party invities, add it for everything else too)
- Fix messages (so unreliable I refuse to use the messaging system, conversations don't load properly etc)
- Automatic trophy sync (it's ridiculous to say the least that I have to manually sync when checking my recently unlocked trophy & that it still shows the trophy as locked when I have the trophy menu open in the background when it was set to show that set of trophies or the individual trophy -> have to close trophies and re-open for refresh & sync).
- Fix the overall notification system. I still get friend request notifications even after accepting the individual request 3 days before on my PS App.
- Add sorting/filter options to the library (sort by A-Z etc, filter demos/DLC)
- What's New feed is completely broken here (?), I have to manually refresh it every time I turn my PS4 on (or it continues to show stuff that happened weeks ago).

That new notification system in the screens looks nice, they should definitely look into adding something like that (it'd definitely be better than taking you out of the game).

Folders (or any equivalent) have always been a when rather than an if. That flat horizontal design wasn't sustainable without them in the long run. Hell, between the Plus games, the cross-buy games, the upgrade plan ones and the few I've bought, I must already have 20 games on that row.

As long as they keep that upper shortcut row, which I really like.

Looks like pressing the PS gives you more detail on the trophy you've unlocked, similar to the 360.
At last. I was baffled the console didn't ship with this TBH.

Instead of a redesign they should focus on under the hood improvements:
Agreed with that list. Also make the Share button behave as intended 100% of the time, remove the moronic Facebook requirement and add YouTube support. Share feels like a Beta right now.

Great! What I would really like to see are shortcuts. I'm not familiar with Xbox's UI but Sony has never implemented this. Imagine you want to go from game X directly to Storage Management. Navigating the UI takes a while sometimes and adding shortcuts (touch path gestures maybe?) would do the trick.

At first I figured it was real because the update is hardly an update. Vintage Sony.

Then the pictures felt off because of the bottom right trademark labeling. It doesnt look right. Kinda try-hard'ish to make it look real.

While this is prolly fake, hopefully it's a wake up call to Sony letting them know how shirty the ps4's UI is right now in its current state.
