Gran Turismo 6 |OT| Moon Rover The Castle

I've been playing this for months, and only just recently got one of the 20m cars.

I also just figured out you can repeat some of the seasonals and keep getting their prize money...

Kaz is a board member of Sony Computer Entertainment, so I highly doubt he was caught by surprise.

My biggest problem is that this is PlayStation's #1 franchise by sales and yet PD is this way. While it is deeply frustrating and perhaps fundamentally flawed, we have no choice but to accept that this as the way PD works and continue to shout from the internet rooftops.

I agree, this is the most frustrating part.

In other news, I've gone back to Dirt 3 in the absence of anything GT related. Dudes, bros, I forgot how dudebro it is. "Yo amigo post that footage to youtube. It rocks!" rofl

I was wondering today if the PS4 didn't catch Polyphony by surprise and screwed up their planned roadmap. Surprised, as in it's so much easier to develop on the PS4 that GT7 would be considerably faster to develop and some of the planned GT6 features will be just ported over.

It would make financial sense, instead of releasing more features to a shrinking audience. DriveClub and other racing titles will be out soon, further encroaching on the GT player numbers.

Don't beat me up too much.

That's why Spec II will be launched on PS3 / PS4 this December, but with no Logitech support I won't be upgrading.

They better not gimp the PS3 version of Course Maker.

At this point, re-releasing GT6 on PS4 would probably be the worst thing they can do.

In fact, they should not put out a GT game on PS4 until wheel support is taken care of. I´m not spending another 1000 dollars or so to buy a new wheel considering my G25 is perfect for what i need.

They should also scale back and focus on a smaller game next time, with more attention to core features, but hey, beaten a dead horse and stuff.

There´s a good chance that even adding digital sales and rest of the world GT6 might not even hit 2.5 million sales. It might be bellow Forza 5, released in the xbone... this should tell them just how serious the situation really is.

If Pcars is good and Assetto Corsa gets a port, GT might not even have time to recover.

From my european perspective, stance is the most excessive insult at both automobilism and taste.

Same goes for almost any kind of visual over-tuning.

I simply can't comprehend how can anyone choose Hamman or Schnitzer over normal factory M-tuning for BMW for example. Or Lorinser (or even Brabus) over AMG for Mercedes.

To each his own I guess.

Mmm, stance baby. I'd never drive anything so slammed but I have an odd love of them regardless. They're not to everyone's taste but hey ho, neither is marmite!

Off topic but if you like that Lexus do find some time to browse the beautiful photography here (most of the cars are a little more "tasteful" but they come from the same motoring sub-culture):

It just looks like the suspension has collapsed :)

I *think* that's sort of the point... you grumpy old codger. :)

To be balanced though the engineering which goes into these is actually pretty inventive and in most cases incredibly slick, the quality and attention to detail is insane on some of these cars! Even cooler, the guys behind them are passionate and usually super friendly enthusiasts more than happy to talk for hours about their frankencar whether you dig it inherently or not.

I find it hard to believe any petrol head can or would look down their nose at the rides other folk love, whatever they are, to be honest.

For me, if a person loves their car/truck/bike/bus, whatever it is or looks like, whatever trend or subculture it harks from, modified or unmodified, performance or aesthetic, wherever it - or they - come from and look like, I can appreciate, recognise and respect their passion, dedication and the joy they get from their vehicle of choice.

I can appreciate that some people have no taste, doesn't mean I need to agree with them ;-)

I just can't see past the way they ruined the car in a tasteless fashion.

I'm not saying that tuning is bad or that people should stick to the manufacturer option (AMG or M-series), but if the looks of a car get overhauled, I personally prefer a more classy look. This here is definitely something I'd prefer over these squashed cars.

But it's all a matter of personal preference, of course. It would be great if PD would offer a bigger variety of body parts of commercially available body kits. Especially for old cars.

The stance thing is just... Completely lost on me. It's so absurd to me, it's like taking the hood of your car and bending upward through the middle, and saying it looks cool. Functionally it's stupid, visually it's just idiotic looking.

Then again, I like matte and chrome paint colors, so I'm kind of in a glass house.

I just got this today. My first GT game. Well I got GT 2 as well for 3 bucks. Been on the mood for a good racing game. With that said should I invest in a wheel? Or is a controller perfectly fine. Im not a hardcore racing guy. What does most of GAF use? Wheels and pedals are expensive. I may just wait for GT7 on PS4 and get a wheel for that.

Once you try it with a wheel, there's no going back.

The Logitech DFGT is your best bet for racing on a budget.

Bear in mind, at this point in time Logitech wheels don't (and possibly won't ever) work on PS4.

Wheel is nice. Controller is fine though, even though the DS3 is not necessarily a great racing game controller.

If you're not a hardcore racing game fan, I would stick to controller. Decent wheels aren't cheap and take up a bunch of space.

I've been using the controller and so far so good. I just don't want to buy a wheel for PS3 when I can just wait for the next GT and get a wheel for PS4 when a decent one comes around.

This game is a lot of fun but the AI needs work. It sucks because with the vast amount of content here I don't want to play another racing game. The career mode is excellent, the detail is excellent, I just wish the AI was... better, aggressive, something.

The oddest thing about the AI is that once you get to first place, all the other racers just... Give up. It's like a reverse rubber-band, where they all fall drastically behind and never attempt to get ahead again.

Yeah, I was assuming this would be a harder racing game than what I'm use to (NFS, Mario Kart, Burnout, etc.). With it being "realistic" or attempting to be or something (since I still hear it's still an arcade racer). But no. After the first 2 or 3 races, once I got the hang of things, I was able to easily dominate each race. It sucks because I'm not a multiplayer guy and I was at least hoping I would have really work on my driving skill to compete, but you don't. Makes the Forza drivatar feature seem interesting. I've never played Forza but I enjoy all the content GT has to offer.

IMO the challenge is provided by the cars, not the AI. Try driving something like the Zonda R with no assists. It's a steep learning curve. There's plenty of other cars that take time to learn and master too.

That's where I get my kicks; the driving rather than the racing.

Finally golded the Senna 97T challenge last night after trying Brands Hatch for about 45 minutes. The car just didn't feel good to me and I really hate Brands Hatch.

Now I'm working on the Red Bull challenges and I'm hating the fact that I can't restart a race if I'm in a championship. I know it's realistic or whatever, but I'm playing a game, so I'd like to have the chance to restart when the AI screws me over like it has a few times so far.

Ok, I don't hate it in all cars, but most powerful cars are just no fun on it for me. I'm fine with BTCC style cars but anything more and it's just a chore of a track.

I'm right there with you, touring cars are awesome.
