Sledghammer: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare not coming to Wii U, Treyarch not on game

I think 3rd parties know most people who would be interested in a game like COD and own a wii U have another platform they'd rather buy it on.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
It would surprise me if it didn't, because the recent BLOPS2 DLC seems to demonstrate a willingness to keep the Wii U CoD audience satisfied.

They didn't. High Moon is making the 360/PS3 game.

Those are the versions Sledgehammer is making. They have another studio doing the PS3/360 ones.

Exactly, which is what I'm driving at: to me, it looks like he's saying that Sledgehammer isn't working on AW for Wii U, not that such a version doesn't exist (otherwise, he would have said something like "game is coming to PS4, XB1, PS3, X360 and PC only).

....

See, that's why I hate how ambiguous Activision have been regarding CoD on Nintendo consoles. So many times they said 'nope, not coming', only to say the total opposite a few weeks later. Impossible to get a straight answer from them.

Not that I have much hope for a Wii U version, but the wording there is a bit interesting.

"no, no WiiU. That was an Activision decision." ---> This is pretty definitive and leaves very little room for interpretation.
"We are focused on XboxOne, PS4, and PC." ---> but then for some reason he felt the need to say this.

To me that just sounds like he is trying to put a positive face on it and getting as far away from any backlash as possible. It's like he's saying "That's not my department." or "It's above my pay grade."

One thing is for sure, the way CoD has been handled on the console leaves a lot to ask for. Super late announcement not letting Wii U in on the hype at time of reveal, no pre-order maps, no DLC, and you can't download the games on eShop.

Your loss, Activision. The game is going to sell 30000000 copies now instead of 30000004. Such a stupid business decision.

You know, Splatoon should really be a 3D platformer instead of some 5 vs. 5 MP nonsense with no SP mode.

Yes, Nintendo definitely needs more platformers in its lineup. Maybe it'd be even better if they could make it star Mario instead.

I don't REALLY need to point out this is sarcasm, do I?

OT: Honestly wouldn't be surprised either way. CoD on Wii U is a weird one to predict, but either way believing the console would be better without these ports (as some above have alluded to) is just insane. I hope it happens, Activision should give it one more shot.

If you do 0 marketing for it and basically not acknowledge its existence at all until very short before its release, then you can't expect anything else but it not selling at all.
Might as well not bother with it then.

Yup, the myth that any console (not just Nintendo's) can survive without strong 3rd party support is total bs.

and just imagine how awesome would it be if you could have both.

Software sales are too low to justify the cost of development I'm assuming. You'd think a big brand like activision could stomach the cost and simply release it anyways, but as a business decision it seems unlikely. I'm actually fine with it and still interested in the wii u with it being nothing more than a box for nintendo games. I don't know how sustainable it is, but things are looking good so far yeah? That E3 direct really changed peoples opinions around here about the machine from the posts I started reading.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
The question he was asked was "call of duty advance warfer is goin to be on wii u ??", not "Are you making Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on Wii U?".
I thought you were having a stroke. But no, that's actually the entire tweet. It has one tweet too. I don't think anyone expected CoD:AW on WiiU.

Someone needs to ask Treyarch cuz they're the only developer that would port it.

I just don't understand why they can't officially announce if it's coming or if it's not coming. Why is it such a secret every goddamn year?

WiiU install fanbase is low, but this kind of shit doesn't help

Yeah, you're right, but that wasn't really the point of my post.
I'm just saying that it would be great that besides being a "box for nintendo games", you could also play the big multiplats there.

don't get me wrong, I love my WiiU, but I really wish that I wouldn't have to buy a separate console to play multiplats.

Well, let's break down the statement:

Question: "@MichaelCondrey call of duty advance warfer is goin to be on wii u ??"
- This appears to be a question asking "Is Call of Duty: Advance Warfare on Wii U?"

Reply Part 1: "@1422644 no, no WiiU."
- This appears to state the game is not on Wii U.

Replay Part 2: "That was an Activision decision."
- He states that his previous statement was an Activision decision, implying Activision decided not to put the game on Wii U.

Reply Part 3: "We are focused on XboxOne, PS4, and PC."
- Michael Condrey is the second in command of Sledgehammer games, who is developing the XB1, PS4 and PC version of the game. Given that 360/PS3 versions are publicly announced, this would imply he's explaining that his studio (Sledgehammer) is focusing on XB1, PS4, and PC.

There's no "we" language present in the first two statements.

Shocking.

Who was even planning on getting it for Wii U anyway? It'd probably be the worst version of the game.

higher install base than xbone, which is their lead platform as far as advertising is concerned

ok then, install base for that kind of games.

COD: Ghosts. Sales breakdown
Xbox One: 6.42%
PlayStation 4: 7.39%
Xbox 360: 55.45%
PlayStation 3: 30.42%
Wii U: 0.33%

Bummer, CoD fills a nice gap on the Wii U, I bought BOs 2 and I still play it occasionally. AW is looking very good and albeit small, there is a COD following on the Wii and Wii U, although the latter one is even smaller.

not a surprise when ghost and BO2 only has like 2k players playing everyday. There's also like 5 other platforms you can buy it on, that most CoD fans have so it's not too big of a deal.

This is coming from someone who owns ghost and BO2 on wii u. I likes the ability to play on the gamepad and my brother play on the big screen while we were online though. Oh well.

Sure, but he might not be aware that Treyarch is making one and might be speaking on Sledgehammer's behalf. It's not his business to know whether or not another studio is working on the game as well, unless they're sharing assets (which they would be but who knows).

Again, it is unlikely but still possible.

To be honest I as surprised Activision bothers to fund a PC version as well.
The COD franchise seems completely irrelevant on PC.

Every single CoD Starting with 4 on the Wii has been in some sort Fog until it's almost on shelves, why would this be any different?

It's not his question to answer, since it'll be done by Treyarch per usual.

Why Activision had decided to keep the Nintendo versions in the dark each and every time, and also deny them DLC and then wonder why sales are low, well gee that's Just the M.O. When it comes to bringing any sort of support to the big N.

Boggles the mind....

Treyarch is not working on it.

Another guy asked a follow-up question about High Moon. He hasn't answered that one yet.
