GTAV PS4/Xbox One coming November 18th, PC coming January 27th

I really hope that Rockstar Social Club will actually track the 100% stuff properly this time. In the PS3 version I missed flying under one of the bridge properly and wasn't able to figure out which one. There was no way I was going to go back and fly under every single one again. If the game tracks this stuff then I really don't understand why they can't display it on the social club website.
You only needed to fly under half the bridges for 100% though.

Ever played GTA 4 on PC?

Those comments always come over so weird, those can't possible come from a person that has experience these versions first hand and not years later when everything got a community fix or the hardware was able to brute-force the shit.

I wouldn't even call Max Payne 3 a truly polished product on pc, plenty of things were fucked and it took a while for R* to even give a shit and patch it.

Edit: Biggest issue that i have with this second delay is the lack of an answer from R*, the best we'll get is some R* support drone promising a quality product and that'll be the end of it, i wanna know who made this decision and why and if their very loyal fanbase was ever taken into account.

AFAIK the GTA 3 port was not that good either and plenty of people had performance issues, comparable to the GTA IV disaster.
But luckily I had no problems with GTA 3 PC back then, just like you.

Obviously, I can't speak for everyone else, but it was running brilliantly at the time on a Dell something or other with GeForce 3 ti 200. Definitely had no issues at all

Max Payne 3 was a PS3/360 non-open-world game. Of course it's going to run well. It's not particularly demanding outside of a few PC-only features. I wouldn't consider that a "good port". Just an average one.

GTA V PC's performance is going to be largely depend on how it runs on PS4/XB1. If it already runs pretty well on those console you can expect it to run well on PC. Likewise for the opposite scenario. This is just a trend I see across most current-gen multi-plats (WD, DR3, etc.). Hopefully they go for something clean and stable on consoles and not another janky mess like the original version.

Perfect timing on PC for me. After finals and Xmas travel break, doesn't coincide with other titles that will be wanting my time. I played this obsessively and thoroughly on PS3. I'll wait happily, not because I think it'll be massively superior but because it's my preferred platform for a variety of reasons. I'd get it on XB or PS if I really needed to.

This "war" is just people announcing how much, in increments of $500 or so, they've spent or are willing to spend on hardware. Who gives a shit. Enjoy what you've got. Most PC gamers have at least one console.

The only children I see here are the console gamers who are getting lured into double or even triple dipping the same game.

Lured? What are we, fish? I make my own decisions, no one "lures" me into shit.

Why does spending my money on what I want make me a child?

I see Rockstar hasn't changed their attitude toward PC. If past GTA games are any indication, I expect there to be plenty of technical issues even with the delay.

God I hope we can disable or mod this out.

R* has been pretty good with options in Gta IV and MP3, i'll give em that so i doubt it's gonna get forced on pc gamers.

Console gamers though, probably shit outta luck, shame cause it's a shitty effect.

True, MP3 had some pretty big issues with the mouse controls and MSAA was borked at launch.

Yo why the fuck R* hates PC as a platform? They either delay the release or don't release at all. Has there ever been a time when they released the game on PC same time as on consoles? No matter how much I love their games on consoles, but they are still a scumbag when it comes to PC. Not to say, they give shittiest ports despite being a top developer.

shhhhh!!! Quiet you, it's only two months, stop acting like a child!

Think about it financially and developer wise. It maximises sales and leaves enough time to polish up the game that has had an iffy outing on PC last time it launched.

As much as I hate it myself it makes some sense when you think about it. They don't "hate" the PC crowd

The PC delay is expected. PC will never be a priority for Rockstar over consoles. Especially next gen console buyers that are dying to have some good content. As long as they give a good and polished product all will be forgiven.

But what of new heists in story mode?
What of heists in GTAO?
What of the casino?
What about Lamar?
What of a patch to remove Franklin's stereotypical cringe-worthy ex from the game all together?

These are what I must know before I double dip into 1080p boobies.

PC date does not upset me. I am sure they did for quality control. I'll have other stuff to play this holiday anyway:) AC Unity, Dragon Age and... okay so maybe it sucks a bit, but fuck it. FUCKKKK ITTT. ITS COMING. WE know its coming!!

I got it for 360 and sold it and the system awhile back and have been missing Vinewood ever since. Was going to get on PC but man I feel impatient, plus my PC is aging and I'm pretty sure I'd have a better guaranteed experience on PS4. Granted I don't have one yet, here's hoping for a bundle! I feel like I'm at a crossroads again where I'm gonna go back to consoles for a bit and still use PC for indies and the occasional, ever so rare exclusive with a moderate budget. I didn't think a last gen game that I already played a fuckton of was what would be the motivating factor for me hopping on the current gen wagon but damn, R* knows how to pull me in like few other devs can.

How much polish did they do on Bully, GTA4, LA Noire or Max Payne 3?

All ran like shit when they were released. MP3 too had tons of problems despite being a PC franchise.

I am betting one reason they didn't prioritize the PC version is piracy and steam sales. I would wonder how much money they make off the PC version between those two things vs. the console versions?

It may just be sucks to be PC users but it could just be they just don't make as much money on the PC version. And sorry, you can't blame them for prioritizing the platform they make the least profit on last. In fact, I'm betting it's something like that since the PC version shouldn't be too hard after the PS4/xbox one versions being similar. And they may just not had enough developers to split amongst three versions at once so they shorted the PC team.

So, is there a new trailer available?

Also, it doesn't seem to be 1080p, at least not on XB1. Would've said so otherwise instead of just mentioning higher resolutions.

Still hyped as fuck. GOTY, again.

Those of you who keep saying "there is no reason PC version shouldn't come out same day" are flat out wrong.

There are two exact platforms to worry about with current gen releases, where as PC release has to take into account tens of thousands of possible computer builds, multiple GPU and CPU types, scaling for RAM availability, resolution changes, and additional PC only tweaks.

Well, they've made sure it's gonna get pirated to hell now and don't forget the folks that will now just wait for that summer sale, all in all gj with this move R*.

Without blowing your load over this game being the biggest and best ever, explain to me why this isn't an issue for other developers?

Steam sales? That's up to the developer/publisher, not Valve. They don't lose money from the sales either. If anything, devs flourish because of them.

Rockstar really is full of shit. This is disgusting. That disrespect seriously. Another one that doesn't remember where it comes from...

True, but PCs were also present when GTAV first launched in 2013, well before the release of the Xbox One and PS4. When viewed from this perspective, the PC version's delay is longer than just a couple of months.

EDIT: Well, maybe the release wasn't exactly "well before" the new consoles, but the start of development certainly was.

Any idea why the Steam page of GTA V says "Early 2015" and not 27.01.2015 as a release date?
I hope for them not to delay again. The shitstorm will be ridiculous.

I wouldn't care. I waited over a year now, I can wait a few more months.

You are trying to make it look like as if it's a bunch of newbies making the game on kickstarter.

We are talking about a top tier developer like R* which has huge amount of resources and talent. Also it's not like they are doing this firs time. To me, it seems they don't really get much profit from PC. But then again, if they disrespect the community like this, then you can't expect good sales. Seems a shitty situation to me.

What are the chances of a GTA V PS4 bundle? I'm itching to pick up one up now, but I'm wondering if I should wait for a possible announcement of that.

It started on pc, it was even timed exclusive on pc, the original also had a pc exclusive add-on.

This whole situation is just amusing considering they have a studio dedicated to porting stuff to pc, lack of resources my ass.
I would argue that the Houser brothers' 3D series that we have today started as a PS2 exclusive.
