Parts of what's shown throw me back to this fan concept from a while back.

Every time I see this game I'm amazed by how much the basic level design reminds me of Mario 64.

Not necessarily in the obstacles, and of course it's not a platformer, but just in the basic shape and how things are laid out.

Stages like this one:

Captain-Toad.jpg

Fairly small, super dense, with a main path through the level that you can deviate from for exploration, and just about every spot on the course has something worth moseying on over for. Perfect miniature 3D worlds. Beautiful.

Nintendo's done a fantastic job with this one.

Man I'm so excited for this game. I can't wait to see how they expand on the concept. And geeeeeez, it's pretty.

Charming and beautiful. Nintendo has really nailed the art direction with this and Mario Kart!
I think the art direction has slightly changed since early shots or am I crazy?!
It looks more clayish or something?

I know Mario Kart 8's overall look changed from last E3.

Do wonder what people would have preferred.

Extra DLC for 3D World, something in the league of Super Luigi U, that is extra platforming levels and some Captain Toad Levels. Or the Captain Toad spin off NIntendo is releasing?

Edit: We are asuming the Mario Team has limited resources and it could only be one or the other.

Game looks as sharming as always.

More 3D world levels that are as challenging as those from NSLU would also be awesome. Still, this might offer some more creative stuff to play with.

Treasure Tracker. The Captain Toad levels rank consistently as one of the best aspects of 3D World. I just didn't feel we got anywhere near enough of them.

I believe 3d world dlc would require less effort. A smaller team could have worked on a dlc simultaneously, I'm quite certain this was just a business decision.

I really don't care the Wii U is last gen, its capable of amazing graphics unlike Wii.

I would have preferred 3D World DLC, but I think this is the better choice. It's a unique and creative thing to flesh out into its own full game.

I want Nintendo to make an T-rpg like this.

While not a Toad dedicated RPG, would be nice to have a return to a Super Mario RPG type of... RPG using this visual style.

On the topic of one or the other, i think i too prefer the Captain Toad spin off. However, it would be nice to have some extra DLC for 3 World. It would be a nice initiative if Nintendo gave the substantial DLC (close to Expantion) treatment to some key franchizes like they did with NSMB U or MArio KArt.

Oh man, I can't wait for this.. Fortunately there's HW, Bayonetta 2 and Smash to keep me entertained until Toad gets released. Still I would have prefered a 14 release in PALland :(

I am fascinated by the look of this game, people laugh at me when I say it's one of the many reasons I want a Wii U. :(

I would love a true sequel to Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars in this style or the new Kirby clay tech.

Still one of the best looking games I've ever seen. The type of look that last across generations instead of being hot for a few weeks then completely forgettable afterward. Really looking forward to seeing this at 60fps on my tv.

I liked that they showed longer/tougher levels in the Treehouse stream. I hope this will satisfy the people that were worried about content/variety.

Hopefully the game has and tracks player challanges. It would be nicce to have a challange like: "complete the game withouth harming any normal baddies".

Here's hoping that the game eventually shows up on the 3DS, the stereoscopic 3D effect will suit this game level design perfectly.

I guess this is as good a place as any to post this. I went to GS this morning and was going to pre-order the game but the person working there said not only is it not in their pre-order system yet, but in addition he thinks a Nintendo rep told him the game has been delayed to Spring 2015. I told him I had heard about the EU delay to Jan. 2015 but that last I heard we are still getting it this year in NA. He said he wasn't sure and might've been thinking of a different game. So, take this all with a massive grain of salt, but, just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone else has heard anything like this.

I think that's rather improbable, as if that was the case the game wouldn't have been in the Treehouse stream.

Considering the European delay has been announced for a while and the game was just on the Treehouse stream as a Holiday title I find it hard to think they would delay it at this point. Especially to the spring when even in Europe it's coming in January.

I really wanted to be excited about this game, but I just don't feel it. Feels like another Mario game instead of a new Toad adventure. It lacks the pull of Luigi's Mansion.

I'll bite on 3DWorld instead, which I haven't been able to play and Smash.

Would have been happy either way, but there were already a ton of great Mario platforming stages in 3D World. The few Captain Toad stages just left me wanting even more, so I'm especially glad they're giving me some!

It only would be good news if it was delayed until spring since it would imply more content and polish.

In reality is a 2014 lock it seems.

This is one of the aspects I really love about Nintendo. The effort they put into the art styles is amazing. You will be able to comeback 15 years from now and still say they look great unlike other AAA games that will look dated once a next gen arrives.
