Smash 4 at least has for fun as well as ffa/team for glory matches, which could improve your chances.

I played roughly 10 matches for glory and only lost 1 :) It's not too terrible. I'm not great at smash and did pretty well, I think.

ah felt kind of bad jumping into your game with someone else earlier as my pika...didn't know it would work that way, maybe we can have a 1-on-1 later

W/ makai? Those were just for funsies, I don't mind that you jumped in. I only had half an hour to play anyway. :) You don't get your records saved when playing w/ friends. It's only the for glory where your win/loss ratio matters. That's what I was talking about.

Still haven't decided who i'm going to play, as I main Link. Probably Zelda? Gotta learn her a bit better. Trying to get a hang of her teleport. I often miss the 2nd hit :/

Not super proficient with How GAF works, is there a way for me to be kept up to date on JoeInky's custom move updates rather than digging through all of the pages of this thread?

I want to play and see matches where all items are set at a Very High spawn rate but all of them are turned off except for the Cuckoos. I think it would be amazing fun.

Wii U better get a goddamn Rogueport stage. Or just any stage from Paper Mario 2.

Sakurai pls, make my greatest dreams come true. Ideally a TTYD stage would be on the actual battle stage and have varying battle scenes from all 2 4 games going on in the background, but Rogueport or Glitzville or the Excess Express or basically anything other than the SS Flavio or Petalburg and surrounding areas would be great.

I actually didn't know how to get the number of posts per user in a thread thing to come up on the website lol.

I'm alright if you use that strategy against me in the tournament :p

Nah, for you, I'll take you on head to head
straight off the stage

Most of my demo play has just been Mario, oops.

Time to practice other fighters.
I've played 99% Mega Man, and everybody else once. He is my drug.
Actually, I'm feeling like maining Dedede come Oct 3. Partially because he's a less popular character.

To add to what I said about losing, I've definitely improved my play. I can feel it. DHD has allowed me to rack up damage on people handily, I just need help learning how to finish.

Right, thanks. I completely forgot about the records...I'm scared to look at mine after that Little Mac guy :'(

Probably going to main Pika again until I learn Rosetta if ever...still haven't unlocked half the cast though

That made me look at the list. And because of that, I feel like I should make one more post right here to hit 100.

I'd say about 4/5 of my time with it has been Mario. He has some simple combos that are really satisfying, and he feels really agile. All his aerials are fun to use all the time, except fair, which is especially fun if you can get them with the spike. But only then.

.. okay. ovo;

Current version I'm uploading is 11min (will upload them onto YT later~) long and the closest to original in quality (Original is 20khz / 100kbit, mine 22khz / 160kbit [to counter loss on re-encoding]).
Higher quality is currently impossible. Wait for my WiiU rip if you're into 32khz.

My greatest weakness is landing aerials, from anyone. I whiff ALL THE TIME with all characters. Always have. My ground game is solid, though. My projectile game is fantastic. So, if there's something I need to learn, it's aerials.

Any tips, help, etc? I'm so bad, and it's basically 50% of smash bros.

Anyone know if you can unlock characters while playing online multiplayer? Do those count toward win count?

Timing and spacing.
I'm bad at it too though.

My biggest issue is landing bairs, haha. Stuff like intercepting with Mario's bair completely escapes me because I can't figure out how to consistently manage the positioning.

Mwuhahaha. Everyone talking about their losses excites me more in what will change, once my tournament begins. >:3
Super excited for this, BTW!

So guys, if Nintendo were to add DLC stages to Smash 3DS, what levels would you like to see?

If they're not in the WiiU version, maybe The Mole Train (DKCR3D), Zoness (Star Fox 64 3D) and Saturn Valley (Mother 2/3), as well as a new Icicle Mountain, if DLC brings back Ice Climbers.

Wario and Jigglypuff are excellent characters for this. Their high air speed combined with a fantastic set of aerials should get you used to the air. Wario's aerials are easier to land due to their long active hitbox but Puff stays in the air a lot longer. Try both out.

Let's start by actually giving each franchise at least 1 new stage. Including Duck Hunt and Gyromite.

A Link main would have a good projectile game. :p

What's causing you to whiff? 'Landing aerials' is a really vague thing, and a lot of it just depends on how your opponent is moving; observe their habits, when they advance/retreat/shield etc. If it's a laggy aerial, make sure you autocancel it or use it off stage. If it's not, worry more about staying safe after it than always hitting them. In theory, I'm thinking it would help to space aerials just in front of opponents. Then it hits them if they come in, and if you place it right you're safe if they try to retaliate, and it might even scare them into retreating and giving you stage control. I'm not really sure that plan is smart right now though, since this game is pretty different from what I'm used to. I'm just kinda tossing out thoughts here, I'm not actually good enough to be giving advice lol.

A stage based on:

Donkey Kong Country Returns (if not in Wii U version, also would prefer Factory world)
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (World 2 or 5)
Anything from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Bowser's Castle (Will it ever happen? lol)
Lorule from ALBW

Stages I'd like to see:

- An EB stage. Either Saturn Valley, or King Porky's Playroom from Mother 3.
- Saffron City, the N64 version.
- Something from Tropical Freeze
- Something from Metroid Fusion. Maybe it could be similar to Shadow Moses Island.

Ridley's ship from Zero Mission
Artifact Temple from Metroid Prime
Pirate Homeworld Leviathan from Prime 3
Norfair from Super Metroid
Wherever the hell Samus fights X-Ridley in Fusion

Bowser's Castle is actually the third part of the Paper Mario stage.

For Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, I'd love a stage based on the second world, Haunted Towers. You could have a tower on either side, with walls that disappear like Tomodachi Life, and a bridge spanning the middle, with the colossal tree in the background. It'd also be neat to have a rainy stage, and the man-eating plants could be stage hazards. :)

Pushmo Stage
Luigi's Mansion Dark moon
Metroid Fusion stage

Posted some time stamps for the character breakdowns D1 did on stream yesterday in the FGW thread, so I might as well paste them here too.

Greninja
Falco
Shulk
Robin
Duck Hunt Dog
Palutena / Palutena Custom "Jump Glide" (I'm singling this bit of footage out just because what the fuck, they put tridashing into Smash)

Murasame Castle (because I want that new song playing on a stage and you can never go wrong with castle rooftop levels), Zoness (glad I've sold more people on that), Tane Tane Island (Mother 3), Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy (Yoshi's Island), Mario's Castle/Macro Zone (Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins), Kremlantis (Donkey Kong Land), SR388 (Metroid 2).

I think an upward-scrolling Ice Climbers stage would be cool.
Not upward scrolling like that awful Donkey Kong stage from Brawl was. Rather, every 15 seconds or so, after a warning, it would scroll up one level. And each level would have a different layout or hazard.

Man Sonic is just SO much better this time around. I don't know that I could main him, though, because my reflexes aren't good enough to handle his speed.

Edit: Melee had an upward-scrolling IC stage, didn't it? I seem to remember it being really annoying.

Fortree City (Pokemon RSE)
Tal Tal Heights (Link's Awakening)
Some sort of Canvas Curse moving stage where the platforms are being drawn.
Miiverse stage like Pictochat, except instead of drawings it's the great and insightful posts you'd typically see on Miiverse.

Where is your location and who are you generally playing?

If you're looking for an overall look at how the online plays in the various modes, you should watch Maximilian's review of the online/netcode

He's played a ton of different fighting games online and generally knows what he's talking about with this stuff.

(IMO, this video should be linked to anytime someone asks about online because it seems to happen a lot in this thread >_>)

Oh didn't know that about the Paper Mario stage, well at least it happened finally! :p

I like your idea for the Luigi's Mansion stage. The second mansion would be a pretty good candidate for a stage as well.

I completely forgot about a NintendoLand stage as well, but I think that is a given in the Wii U version. (same with DKCR stage)
