The hate in this thread. Never fails. Apparently FFXIII = Superman 64.

Anyway, they made this decision just to screw with me.

I beat XIII and XIII-2 on 360 when they first came out and then earlier this year I bought the whole trilogy for PS3 because I wanted to watch the FMVs without the artifacting. And yeah, I actually like the games quite a bit and wanted to revisit them.

Then last week I decided I was going to marathon them to get them off the backlog in time for the holiday season and glut of new games. Now, this. I won't buy them a THIRD time, Square Enix! I WON'T!

That being said, there's no reason, technically speaking, why Squeenix couldn't include all of the languages. The language included in your initial download is determined by the language Steam is set to; any other languages are optional and can be selected in the game's properties window.

FYI you have to tick all the available languages for every region on Steam.

If on the Store page it says it's available only in EFIGS, it means that, because the store page description is bound to your location, the tick boxes aren't.

In other words - if you're outside of Asia you cannot play the game with Japanese Audio. Sorry.

Question? Steam has quite a lot of users, would it be unreasonable to assume that at least 1 million users would buy this by Oct 9th? Of course you have to factor in that not all steam Users have PCs that can run this, this may not be their type of game, etc. But I truly would like SE to start porting more Final Fantasies and maybe this will really grab their attention? I know Kingdom Hearts can't go digital because of Utada though...

Very unreasonable, yes. The original release in Japan didn't get that many preorders despite all the hype. The game is now 5 years old. 350,000 to 500,000 lifetime would be great sales for the game.

Yeah, didn't happened in one day for other platforms... well, the price isn't the same to be honest. But I think that it could reach more than 200k ltd, which IMO, would be fair enough for Square Enix do make more PC games.

so my only two questions would be... will the pc version include the patch that only the japanese versions got (that added the easier settings)

and will the future games include the DLC or will they be individual (i imagine at the very least a more expensive version that includes them all should exist on steam but it would be cool if it was all included from the start)

You couldn't even pay me to play this crap again. This is one instance where the game actually lives up to it's horrendous reputation. Almost all the hyperbole is justified imo. There is that train wreck curiosity though so I wouldn't fault anyone for buying it.

That's a shame, but what GhostTrick mentioned is sort of what I'm thinking. A million is perhaps too much, but the price point is fantastic. Shame Valve doesn't release sales numbers so we can at least compare it to other titles. Namely Final Fantasies and PC ports that came much later than their platform counterparts.

1 million by the time of the Steam Summer Sale next year..maybe. But not day one. I know Steam has a ton of users, but this is a Japanese RPG on a platform that isn't exactly known for having JRPGs releasing 5 years later than it's console version, and a game that garnered a lukewarm reception and reputation, at that.

that being said, I mean, this is basically a "we already did the work, may as well throw it out there!" port, and I mean, why not? They make more money, and hopefully see the market demand for more products like this leading to more products like this popping up on PC which leads to a healthier and more attractive PC gamer scene.
The fact it's climbing the top-selling charts at all is pretty good, IMO. (FFIV is #7 as of this post, too!).

This is one of those games that I'd said I'd play if it came to PC. And well, here it is... so I guess I'm playing it. Good price too, but it is rather old now so I can see why they priced it that way.

Well, I personally liked the game but the criticism often leveled against it definitely has validity to it. So I'd say read up on it and see if it sounds like something you'd enjoy.

It really is linear and the story is a whole bunch of nonsense. But the combat system can be really fun if you avoid that "auto-fight" button and start really messing around with it.
