I just reached a point today after playing where I realized there is no point in playing. I play the same missions and maps so I can get better gear to play the same missions over again?
Vince is right. To this day, I enjoy games without an engaging story, Mario, Donkey Kong, Sports Friends, fighting games.
What makes our medium different than other mediums? ITS ABOUT THE GAME PLAY!
And for the redundant-boring retort of "But Bungie promised an amazing story"
Give me a fu(&!ng break!
Hollywood AAA script-writing and conversanal-script has arguably only been achieved by Th Last Of Us.
Who did you think was making this game?
That's right, it's Bungie. And you arguably got THE BEST DAMN FPS EXPERIANCE IN A DECADE!!!
LOL, that is basically how it hit me.
The game is server-based. "In the box" is old man talk.Irresponsible to do what they've been doing since the beginning of game reviews? Publish a review of what is in the box so the consumer can make an informed decision? You're simultaneously covering for Bungie and making the reviewers out to be some evil conglomerate out to get them. Stop.

I did not think IGN would give Destiny a 7.8.
The Verdict
Simplistic “it’s like X mixed with Y” comparisons don’t really add up when attempting to explain what Destiny is, or why it’s worth playing. It borrows from many well-established gaming destinations, but the climate of each is wildly different, and often incompatible. It’s a complex production that boils down simply to this: Destiny is a mechanically excellent, visually evocative FPS housed within an under-developed RPG framework. The endgame might hook you for the long haul once you fully understand it, but Destiny is ultimately unable to be all the different games it’s trying so hard to be.
I'm genuinely surprised that "Destiny has better gun combat than Uncharted and TLOU" is causing so much controversy and static. It's the simple truth.
Nobody said anything about Uncharted in here.

IGN 7.8
Sounds like everyone at IGN is relieved to finally get it out. Maybe the reviewer got overwhelmed by having this big of a review?
There is something going on behind the scenes at IGN for this review. I am 100% not saying they are being paid, or pressured. It looks more of a personel or time-management issue.
I'm probably feeling crazy, but if there's anything going on regarding moneyhats with Destiny, I imagine it to be Microsoft spending money to spread negative public awareness for this release.
Very well explored and justified in the review text/video itself. If anything I'd almost say the 7.8 seems on the high end considering the critiques. But then again, the core combat is still a lot of fun.

Again, not moneyhatting. Maybe they had trouble in the video production or something. But something happened there...
It's an opinion.LOL wow. Last of Us poor gameplay.
I was merely talking about encounters, but beyond the story and graphics, I found the Uncharted series (and TLoU) to be thoroughly average, with a couple of good moments. I would much rather play Destiny's "campaign," whatever it is, even with its repetition.Holy shit, I know people have options and all but Uncharted 2 and the Last of Us being worse games than Destiny in terms of single player? Those two games having worse feedback? Those two games having more shallow gameplay than bullet sponge, brain-dead boss plus adds?
It's opinions, dude. From what I remember of the train sequence, that was just one huge set piece that wasn't all that fun to play again to me. The enemies were extremely generic, lacking in personality and were incredibly dull to fight against. Nothing like the fun Vex, Hive, Fallen, and Cabal that's in Destiny. You're going to get wrecked for this and you should.
Uncharted 2 absolutely demolishes Destiny's mission design and encounters. The train sequence alone in Uncharted 2 is leagues, absolutely leagues, better than anything in Destiny.
Holy shit. I don't have enough tinfoil for that hat,

To each her own.
It's just a crazy thought, but I would not be surprised. I'm honestly shocked to seeing this game receive sub 6/10 scores. And I'm the last person to say that it is a flawless game.
It probably isn't a PR campaign, but whatever is causing this negative hype is very interesting to me.
Making snide Bungie/Destiny comments has almost reached meme-like levels.
So it has come to this...
