Is that a reference to something I'm not getting? Or is it just that it looks like ness is about to bash her head in with a baseball bat?

Wait? Is Town and City and Smashville seperate stages? They look nearly identical to me.

Yes. Visually similar, but Smashville just has one platform that moves back and forth while Town and City seems to have several platforms that move around.

Really glad Smashville is apparently coming back though, I'd have assumed Sakurai would cut it since they are similar. Without a doubt the best Brawl stage IMO.

That's Smashville, unless Town and City lost a lot of detail on the villagers and textures since we last saw it and set the backdrop to look like Smashville.
There is no bus stop on Smashville, the ropes in Smashville are brown, and there are no cliffs in the town in the background in Smashville, so unless you're suggesting that Smashville was turned into Town & City in everything but platform arrangement, there are no pictures of Smashville in the new picture set.

Yeah, actually... it is Town and City. The background is way different from Smashville.

The gate that you can see in the background of Town and City isn't in Smashville.

Frankly, I'm not even sure why people thought Smashville is in the game it always seemed a little weird to me that people forgot that Town and City uses the same platform and characters in the background as Smashville does.

Smashville is in the game, there's just no new screenshots of it

The angle of the background is way different, the ground texture is different and the villagers are a lot lower quality.

Because we have a screenshot where the ground texture and background (look at the placement of the townhall left in Smashville, right in Town and City) is identical to Smashville.

Okay, I didn't notice that until I compared to the image I posted. :p

But yeah none of these new pics are of Smashville.

They're all Town & City. The style of the clouds in the sky gives it away.

That doesn't explain the different textures on the platform or the lower quality animal spectators. Unless the screenshots are just really old and they were initially just using Smashville models and textures and later replaced them.

Town & City also doesn't have the same rope barricade in front of the spectators.

As in "Heathcliff"
Looks like Town and City to me (cliffs running through the middle like in City Folk). God, these two stages are look too similar.

My bad. I forget what smashville look like.

Because Town and City have two/three floating platforms when Smashville only have one floating platform.

Also there is a picture of Smashville with Wario in it.

I don't see a change in model quality. They've always been low poly. The textures are still higher quality than Smashville's.

Can't wait to try out all the different control options! I think I'm either going to end up with the Pro Controller or GameCube controller...

Pic of the day. Here's the settings menu for Rules. Comical pictures appear on the left when you go through the options, so I'll briefly introduce them.

Going clockwise from the top-left corner, here are the pictures that appear for Rules, Time Limit, Custom Fighters, Stage Choice, Damage Ratio, and Handicap.

In the Wii U version, you can customize additional rules from the beginning of the game. Here are the pictures displayed for Stock Time Limit, Team Attack, Pause Function, SD Penalty, Damage Display, and Score Display. You can almost hear Fox's cry in the picture displayed for SD Penalty settings.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
The stage Kirby is on is almost certainly a new stage based on Wii Sports Resort, as that's one of the three unaccounted for franchises listed in the 3DS version's code (alongside Wrecking Crew and Miiverse).

Now I'm curious what a Miiverse stage would look like

Temple being back in makes me damn happy. I strongly hope that Great Cave Offensive isn't a scrolling stage and is instead a gigantic stage. Would go well with the 8-player mode.
As for Wii Sports Resort...eh. I kinda wonder what exactly it can do stage-wise. We already have a stage that travels around Wuhu Island, so if it's another stage like that, it'd seem kinda pointless.
