Super Smash Bros. Direct - Oct 23(US) & Oct 24 (JP/EU)

So, Tournament Creation and the Miiverse stage aren't going to be there at launch, it seems. Anything else?
Besides Mewtwo, of course.

Oh, the picture sharing thing is coming later, too.

Example? I can't think of anything.

There are a ton of chapters in the single player, there are a ton of weapons, the multiplayer modes, etc.

I also think Hyrule Warriors will have more content than this game will (not counting DLC). In HW there are 13 playable characters, and 19 different movesets spread amongst them, 133 challenges to complete, costumes to unlock, weapon tiers to unlock, etc. And all of that isn't even counting the DLC.

No. I can spend way more time on several Musou games.

I think possible hours spent isn't quite the same thing as actual unique content created for the game. Smash is bound to have a lot of redundant-feeling content, but I would guess that most Musou games don't have hundreds of awesome trophies and like 15 hours worth of music.

Smash has.........

When people are talking about how much content the game has, they are speaking to the variety of content. How many games even vaguely approach this? Certainly, no fighting games do.

Did he hint at any of this going down at all? Not the announcements, just the fact he got called in to do a whole direct. Must be a hard secret to keep.
He had to leave for a little bit back to Seattle. It wasn't hard to surmise, but he didn't give details, and I didn't press. As both a developer and a voice actor myself, I have to respect NDA's.

I haven't looked into Hyrule Warriors much so I can't comment on the comparison but do you think it's enough to fill a 30 min video?

Granted, there was a lot things that seemed repetitive and a bunch of stuff that I, personally, have ZERO interest in... but there was a lot of stuff!

If stuff like my music gets a segment, then yeah, there's more than enough to fill a 30 minute video.

51 characters, a lot of stages, 140 challenges that rely on other modes, an unspecified number of events, classic + all-star, 3 levels of target blast, special/crazy orders, a board game, multi-man smash, and home run contest.
Forgot the custom moveset for each character?

Trophies, trophy picture mode, a music player, voice clips, image viewer, image editor, stage editor, amiibos, online, tournaments

what else?

Good lord, the amount of content. Man, if there is hope in this world this game needs to sell like bread, I'm actually astonished, I always expect Smash to deliver like crazy but goddamn... Fuck you Nintendo, just release me man, let me go...

The stuff you make is just so damn good.

The Mario Kart developers need to take a long hard look at Smash Bros. Mario Kart needs a *lot* more content and modes.

Mario Kart? There's just no game that gets close to this. Smash is a freak of nature, don't expect this kind of content from any game.

I said it before earlier but it got lost in all the hype. The lack of true voice chat in this game is bullshit. So many online games have it consistently and don't suffer from any issues. Ridiculous for a 2014 game and easily the biggest disappointment of that trailer.

I was just listing off things that affect gameplay. I didn't list amiibos since they require a separate purchase.

Not sure how I managed to forget about tournament and custom moves though.

You've been playing too much Hyrule Warriors. :)

Well, I'm not saying it has to have as much content as Smash Bros, but come on, Mario Kart definitely needs a lot more modes/things to unlock and do. I like Mario Kart 8, but it feels so incredibly barebones.

Yeah I dont get the complains about the 3DS version, it is still an incredible game with a lot of content, my goty so far.

When the time comes I'll share 2 NA Smash 3DS codes with gaf because I got 3 copies for the house and only I have a Club Nintendo account.

I feel overwhelmed by all the content that will be in this game...it's legitimately incredible.

If there ever comes a time when a behind-the-scenes look at the development of this games comes to fruition, it will be interesting to note how long it took Nintendo to develop this specific version of the game. As you mentioned, there is just so much content, its hard to fathom it, development must have begun a long, long time ago for this game. So hyped!

I see you what mean.
Does anyone know how the development time/team size compares for the two games?

After watching this direct, I curse myself for buying the 3DS version. I'm throwing the 3DS version in the garbage (selling it) after the Wii U version comes out. Each day I play with the circle pad, I just get sadder and sadder.

I'd be pretty content with bringing back battle mode(arena maps at the very least) and mission mode ala the DS version.

I'm hoping event mode is great, because target blast and trophy rush are pretty lame in the 3ds version, and I don't think I'll get a lot of enjoyment out of smash tour.

Please have Pit say he's a huge fan of the Mega Man games and that he wants his autograph or something like that in the convo. That would make me so happy lol

tapedeck

Do I win a prize for talking about my penis on the Internet???
Somehow I was on the fence about buying this game, this direct has fucking sold me.

I don't care about voice chat.
I don't play game to voice chat with people if not needed.
