I don't understand. It's a comparison thread for grass, and who is to say what is important?
The entire point of Digital Foundry is to analyze the tech of games. What are the "more important things" that should take priority in these threads for a website that literally only analyzes things like what version has more grass or p's or texture resolution? What UI is snappier, or who has more friends on a given system, or what controller someone prefers? That stuff has nothing to do with the technical aspects of a game.

It's sad that we're comparing grass that isn't even the better looking than last gen this strongly, but when everything else looks near par I guess you need to judge what the biggest difference is.
Truth be told, that's nothing new in the world of gaming. At least we can all be happy that the difference is just grass and not crippling framerate or severe graphical downgrades.

How showing performance analysis to the audience as fast You can is a click bait? Its the most important thing about the release.
Pre-eliminary article doesnt need to about everything. Its not like they wont make big one with other differences.

They are not perfect by any means, but they are delivering content that no other sites do. Dont people realize that making those comparisons, especially in open world game takes quite a lot of time?

I think this says far more about you than it does anyone else. If someone says A and B are the same, but B is slightly better, what one do you want? I'll take B. I mean, why not? Why is that so ludicrous that someone deserves to be freaking judged for it?
I sure as hell know if I had a 360 in addition to my PS3 back in the day, I would have gotten RDR on the 360 and not the PS3. Didn't stop me from buying the PS3 version, but if I had the choice I would have gone 360. I guess I should be judged silently for that because it's so ludicrous that it deserves judgement?

BUT, what if they compare the two versions...and the PS4 version has a more stable framerate AND denser foliage?
Ever since the first TESIV: Oblivion bullshots I have enjoyed me some dense foliage in games. It does a good job of hiding the (almost always pretty hideous) low-poly ground surface with smeared textures.

Its worth pointing out definitely. DF's articles are founded on such details.

Meh, I think they did more of less. It reminds me of Destiny. A cross gen game, they changes the resolution and put a little more gloss on it. They had a target (1080@30) and probably nailed it early on for the PS4 and spent a while to get there on the XB1, then called it a day. Throwing a few plants and grass here and there is not really playing to the platforms strengths.

I do like the approach the dev used on this game. Keep the framerate and resolution the same but pair back detail.

The PS4 is a LOT stronger than the Xbox One. That shouldn't translate into slightly better grass in some areas.

DF makes a ton of money with these articles and they deserve to be called out when they fuck up. They used to make one big article with everything included. Now they make 10 articles, often with only one version of the game. No clickbait at all. Anyway, I am not even against the idea of doing multiple articles, but at least have both versions...

I have a PC that might not cut the mustard and a PS4. I want to know if the PS4 version has a stable frame rate. Some random people are reporting the frame rate is not so hot in the city. If this is the case I can probably make the PC version run at a stable frame rate when it releases next year. If you want some console war gibberish I prefer my DS4 on my PS4 over the DS4 on my PC since a lot of games are a QTE fest and I don't like having to convert A's and Bs to X's and O's. So yeah, I wish they would make with the analysis already and cut out these click bait articles so I can choose GTAV now or DA:I.

It's clearly a PS4 is better than XBONE and here's another reason why. And it's using possibly this years biggest game. It's incredibly obvious. The comparison should be done as a whole.
But it's fine, go ahead and try to get a technical discussion about about the grass going. You wont.
It's a technical discussion not a platform debate. PS4's higher GPU grunt allowed for better environment quality.

Isn't the point of DF purely technical? What does fun have to do with anything?
I'm not saying fun isn't important, it is. But in these specific tests, and what people are looking for, it has nothing to do with things like the story, it being fun, or even the level design itself. It's about the technical performance.
Gamers have a lot of options to choose where to buy their game. And it's nice to know where it performs the best on (some people like myself, have X1, PS4 and PC. And while yeah PC is almost always going to be the best, sometimes it's nice to play on a console).
