while true, i still stand with it not being Christensen's fault that Anakin Skywalker in Episode 2 and 3 was an obnoxious character and couldn't carry the "hero turned villain" arc Lucas was hoping for.
The "hero" thing died when Anakin committed Sandpeople genocide (he killed their women and children), way before Lucas meant for him to be "corrupted".

The entire pace of the Prequels felt off. You know where the story is heading with 4,5 and 6, all you have to do is guide the prequels to there, and Lucas still couldn't get that right.

There's parts of the prequels I like, but the fall of Anakin was piss poor.

Was the "Light" part of the vo supposed to refer to the light side of the force? I sure hope not because from what I've been told, there is no such thing in the Star Wars universe.

Better source. Had to re-gif my favorite part.

Imagine a Star Fox game that looks like this mmmmm

That hilt looks super dumb

Narration was terrible and Palpatine-y

Still not fond of the sub title

But glad they focused on the new characters

X wing shots flying over the water, beautiful

Millenium Falcon flying circles around dudes, great

John Boyega being a Storm Trooper is super cool

This is the thing i hate about new movies. look at the face. she is supposed to be in desert but face is all clean no dust no sweat nothing . it look to artificial

She probably hasn't been there that long.

Coming from someone who is a moderate Star Wars fan, it works as a teaser, but as a trailer it's incredibly scant. I was hoping for a bit more; but with this and Jurassic World, I guess minimally informative trailers for old returning franchises are in.

Best shot has to be the X-Wings over the water; the mountainous environment and everything looked really nice. The shot of Millenium Falcon was both cool and kind of a head-tilt. How is that old piece of crap cargo freighter still combat worthy after all that time? All I know is that it takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi. And it has to take place 30 years later because they "need" to put Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill in the movie, in JJ Abram's style. I can already imagine "Crystal Skull"-esque one line references about how old they are.

No real thoughts on the new lightsaber besides that it seems way less practical than a double-sided one introduced in the prequels. Even useless, aside from a handful of very specific cases which I'm sure the film will make present itself.

Not to clown too hard at your pulling a single frame from an 88 second trailer and using it to make a judgment about the movie entire, but there's dirt all over the bike she's on, and she's got a giant pair of goggles on her head, sitting over a headwrap that i'm pretty sure COVERS HER FACE. So if her face is clean it might be because of the fact she keeps it covered when she's driving around the desert on a giant creamsicle engine.

FWIW, modern militaries are still using 40 year-old bombers.

The F-14 Tomcat, for example, was in use for over 30 years by the US before being retired in favor of more advanced versions of the F/A 18 Super Hornet. Point being it's entirely normal for well-designed military machines that have proven their worth to remain in service for a long time.

Considering how badly damaged the Empire was over the course of the original trilogy, there's no reason to assume that they'd retire their bread & butter fighters. They're cheap, efficient, and always got the job done. I'm sure we'll see some Tie Advanced-caliber fighters sooner or later. If not in Episode 7, maybe 8 or 9.

Hell, the B-52 was introduced in 1950 and it's still in active service today, and it's expected to continue service well into the 2030s.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
Yeah thats where im at. I wanted some wow factor. I felt other SW teasers teased a bit more and interested me.

I am expecting this to be better than the PT for sure lol.

Yeah. I'm only worried about Abrams taking a similar approach to Star Trek.

Star wars is pretty 'idealistic' fantasy (moreso than Trek in some respects), but it isn't meant to be a shiny, lensflare-filled bright world, unless it's the Empire's polished evil-ness. The rebels have seen some shit. And if the war or whatever has still been going on for however many years, it shouldn't look as...clean, as it does.

The setpiece with the presumable sith showed some darkness, but otherwise everything was super bright.

But even if that happens, it'll be better than the prequels, so it's w/e.

The X-wings rising up was super cool to see, if nothing else.

trailer fucking STARTS with the sense of urgency that was completely missing from the "lets talk about politics lol liam neeson has no expresions" prequels

like star trek as a whole or not that shit was pumping so abrams is already gonna bring what I missed from those films the most

Jurassic World was teaser (glasses of water) -> teaser (snippets of the trailer) -> TRAILER

this is the very first TEASER - it's not meant to be an actual trailer.

Am I alone in liking Abram's Star Trek?

I loved the first one and didn't mind Into Darkness as much as others. (i liked it, in fact; even though i don't think doing another "Wrath of Khan" was a good choice. Especially since Star Trek Nemesis as well as the first Reboot film borrowed the motive of the "superior but eventually blinded by his lust for vengeance" villain from Wrath of Khan.)

I loved that it made Star Trek accessible for people like my girlfriend, who want exciting, funny adventure stories in space, and not stories about space politics and plasma coils.

Yup, the urgent/tense feel of the trailer definitely elevated it.

Sitting and talking, standing and talking.

Absolutely.

Still the face is too clean

Do you remember Leia looking sweaty and dirty?

Well she wasnt air brushed too much

I am not making judgment about this movie. This is generally the trend i have seen recently in movie. I am sure the movie will be great but this thing stood out

I enjoyed his first Star Trek a lot. I thought it was a great character piece and had great pacing, motivation, and even the cameo was handled fairly delicately considering the story sort of demanded it. Into the Darkness was way too nonsensical with its plot and its action.

I don't understand how I can get so happy from such a short teaser like this.
The camera shots, the scenery, the designs...they just all work. Ah man I can't wait for this movie. Considering the prequels were the first Star Wars films I watched, I'm pretty sure I can only be impressed by what Abrams does in this film rather than be disappointed.

Not to mention Boyega is sweating up a storm in the first shot.

Definitely not. It's a totally good action/sci fi movie that happens to be the wrong tone for a good Star Trek movie (but a good tone for a Star Wars movie). Incidentally, most of the Star Trek movies haven't been particularly good (with the exception of 2, 4, and definitely 6).

My takeaway in the light on scenes teaser is the X-Wings for sure. Loved that shot. And good point, I don't want too shiny things. Wonder when we will get another glimpse of EP7.

I assumed it was what the thread title said it is.

Is there going to be another longer trailer coming in a week or so? If that's the case, I'm pretty excited.
